Not sure how to describe the experience of visiting here but it was sobering. I recommend to book well in advance but there will still be a wait and a queue to enter.
I didn t know this wasn t their family home, but there are still artefacts from their stay here to look at and wonder what these poor people went through.

Beautiful and profound place which after reading Anne's diary and watching the Ben Kingsley movie, made it all the more special. We bought tickets 4 weeks in advance for a Sunday morning at 9am. We were third in the queue before the doors opened (precisely at 9am) and had the whole place to ourselves (us and a a small group of 5 others!). No large bags can be brought in nor are photos are allowed; a cloakroom is available for guests. There are several TV screens which offer short interviews and information about Anne and her life here. Stairs are narrow and steep but there is a railing available for support. Very glad I visited this place.

If you visit Amsterdam you have to go to the Anne Frank house. The audio tour is great, very informative. Make sure you reserve your ticket time otherwise you won't be able to get in. Once inside everything moves slowly as people slowly shuffle around the different rooms. The slowness and eery quiet add to the emotional experience of where you are.

Beautiful, a somber reminder what can happen when men in power want to push a national socialist agenda. The 20miniute briefing before the tour really helps set the stage for what was happening from 1932 - 1945. Also great history lesson for young teenagers

The Anne Frank story has been part of my life since I read the book, 35 years ago!
Visiting the actual location brought the whole story back to me, reminding me of the horrors of the not so distant past.
Anne Frank, her daily musings and this shrine to the family, will ensure that her suffering and that of countless others, at the hands of an evil regime, will be remembered for many generations to come!

What good is a visit to Amsterdam without stopping by Anne Frank's House.
The place has been renovated to preserve the history.
I prefer that it stays close to the original state though.
Tickets sells out fast though so do get them in advance if you can.

You can feel the terrible situation while walking through that annex.. it is a reminder of how things can go terribly wrong when people are not kind enough. Thanks to Otto Frank for making it into a museum

If you want to go you have to book in advance - usually about four weeks!
Incredibly powerful. If you have the chance please go and learn all the details of what happened not only to Anne, but to all the victims of the war

Anne Frank huis is one unique experience. Is hard not to be emotional. Worth completely the visit. If you can book in advance via the site. It will save you a lot of time avoiding the huge lines outside.

It is one of the museum that one must visit, but does not necessarily enjoy the experience.

The set up of the museum is respectful, crowd was controlled and trickled in, in an orderly fashion. This is the museum for history, not for entertainment...

A must when visiting this beautiful city steeped in history. A chilling experience to visit but an excellent site.
Highly recommending booking online as numbers are very restricted due to the small size of the building.
30 min plus self guided tour with audio guide was 14.50.
Spent nearly two hours here.

Advisable to book tickets online. While the tickets are generally sold out, they release tickets for sale the previous evening for the next day. I guess tickets are available at venue for current day evening visits. Not sure.
Coming to the experience, it's quite a Moving one. The travails of Anne Frank have been captured well.
While it's expensive compared to what's on offer, it is a worthwhile visit, given the fact that the venue holds so much of history and stands testament to the horrors of the war.

Wonderful experience and literally stepping into history. Of course it was sad but they do a wonderful job of celebrating her life and ideals. While I think it was probably worth missing my flight, budget a fair amount of time to get through, it's so cramped that after you get through the line, you can't exactly run through.

A must visit for everyone visiting Amsterdam. Pay the extra a book the pre tour briefing, it so helps you cut the long line. It's well worth it and provides you with a great background of the Frank family and their life in Amsterdam during World War 2.

Went to book for 3x adults and 1x child only to be told you can only book 1 at a time. There were 64 tickets available. When we went to book the next ticket they had all sold out now leaving 2x adults and 1x child not being able to enter. How very annoying this is. Can't get a refund as you can only book on line. Very angry.

I was so impressed, so touched when I read her story cos I was a child and didn't how was the holocaust.
I wasn't thinking, first, that we will be inside the house and it was a choke for me.
It's a beautiful and painful experience.
Everyone should visit it.

Incredible experience. So well done with individualized audio tours. Limit the number that can go in at one time so it is not super crowded. Mix of bare rooms, artifacts, film, and stills makes for a varied and full picture of what the family went through and the bigger impact Anne had on the world. GET TICKETS 2 months in advance online. No tickets at the door.

Wow! Such a fabulous experience. We had a 30 mins introduction before walking around the house which was amazing. I learned so much about about the situation and what actually happened. Definately worth a visit. Very steep stairs actually in the though.

Excellent audio tour that turns off at the hiding place. Very somber experience. Important to remember that this is just one small example and that there were so many more who are not remembered; who do not have a museum. Imagine if you could feel the aspirations, frustrations and hopes of the millions who were killed, when just this one is overwhelming.

A touching experience that really made you dwell on your knowledge, gave a vast insight into the struggle of the Frank family and Jewish religion. although thought the restaurant/ bar or what ever was wrong but apart from that brilliant preservation of the house unfortunate they left the actual attic vacant and didn t recreate the furniture in there but apart from that it was good

I would visit again at a less-busy time of year (if that even exists). The rooms allows you to stay as long as you like, but even with the organized line-ups and staging, there are generally too many people, and there's some competition from others to read write-ups & descriptions. The experience still appropriately conveys the heartache & trauma of the Frank family, and leaves a lasting impression.

After reading the book I was really looking forward to the visit. I really think the Anne Frank House is amazing. It transfers the story of her life really well. BUT BE AWARE!!! You have to get tickets online now. I would have loved to visit it at my latest trip too but the tickets were booked our way in advance.

A definite must visit in Amsterdam! To avoid queuing outside the museum for a long time, strongly recommend you go buy your tickets online before visiting the museum. I booked the one that came with the 30 minutes introduction which was very useful for me.

Does not worth the cost of standing outside.

Does not worth the cost of standing outside.
Tickets should be ordered 3 month a head, that if the transaction with the wird pay app doesn't stuck during the transaction!!
Nothing really to see, just a place to stamp on you mapping tours.

Nice museum filled a special historical atmosphere...

Nice museum filled a special historical atmosphere due to it being the original hiding place. The tour takes an hour due to queues and listening to the audio guide but very nice. Be aware of very steep stairs to get to the top so must be in shape and have good footwear.
The negative points are having to queue outside in the cold rain for your slot when there is more than enough space to accommodate these queues inside the entrance hall and the toilets by the museum's coffee lounge were dirty, blocked with no paper so not a nice experience for such a famous museum.
Other than that, enjoy the visit and take a moment of history with you on your way out...

Powerful and moving. Definitely recommend reserving tickets in advance. I went with the Museumkaart, ordered my ticket online and picked up my Museumkaart when I checked-in for my museum reservation time. Take your time going through the museum and be patient. The spaces are small relative to the group sizes coming through (and I visited in an off-peak time), so it's important to be respectful of others as they are experiencing the museum. Thank you to the staff and stewards of this important history.
