The service is top notch, the food is excellent, the atmosphere is great. It's been a Raleigh treasure long before I moved here (40 years ago). The Wild Turkey Lounge, upstairs, is great for a drink with friends, business clients or for dinner. You will NOT be disappointed!! I was there a month ago and it's just keeps getting better. I wish other restaurants were this dedicated to great customer service.
Great atmosphere but definitely a special occasion place for me and my family.
The best way to describe this place is Ruth's Chris meets Cracker Barrel. Food was outstanding and service was top notch. Would definitely eat here again
Nice place, had reservations for almost a year. They emailed me with about two weeks to confirm the reservation. They have a lot of rules for the guest, have to be within two guest or they what to charge you for the missing guest, mustt arrive within 15 minutes of your reservation or your table will be give away. We arrived 15 minutes earlier and still had to wait 30 minutes. We did have have a nice table. The server was very helpful and did a great job. The food was very good and everyone enjoyed the Angus Barn in Raleigh North Carolina.
amazing service from Mike the bar tender and very attentive Ken the manager oyster Rockefeller s are a must would highly recommended this place enjoy everyone from Trish London England
Very rustic place. I visited for the first time. Great place for wine and excellent steaks. Service was high level. Deserts to die for if you have the room. Worth a visit if you come to Raleigh.
The magic of the Angus Barn is the attention to detail. The decor and the atmosphere are timeless. The food is as good as it gets.
We go to the angus barn at least 2-4 times a year and we absolutely love going to see the decorations each year. We went for my birthday last night. As always we enjoy sitting and enjoying the warm and comfortable dining rooms. The decorations this year are outstanding and stood out more than normal. They ve done a great job. Our wedge salads were to die for, the cheese and handmade crackers are delicious. The food was great. Our service was ok.
Very unique atmosphere! Between the wine, the steak and the sauteed greens, I had a beautiful time.
Best stake I had in a long time. I like the decor too.
My husband treated me for my birthday. Wow, customer service that can't be topped. Food that was amazing.
very impressed with the price of their meat considering the upscale atmosphere! definitely the place to buy a new little black dress for
This place gets high marks for it's unique atmosphere. I'm not sure that I can do it justice or explain it properly. There were all of these knickknacks (seems like a lot of k's in that word) dotting the walls. There was a wall of guns that probably numbered in the 200's dating back from the 18th and 19th centuries. The wild turkey room had a number of ceramic turkeys lining the ceiling near the bar. It was like if your eyes were in a country western nightmare while your mouth was in beef nirvana - that makes sense, right? Good. Go to this place.
Van and her team do an amazing job of living the definition of "hospitality" - every guest is treated like a rock star here, whether you're just joining for after-work drinks or dining with 20 on a Friday night during the holidays. Check out the "meat locker" and outdoor patio for a fun look at the activity of Northwest Raleigh while enjoying an expertly-crafted drink and cigar.
Service was great the food was great and the decorations were beautiful
Carla was awesome. The food and service was amazing as well. Well worth it.
If you ve never been, you have to go at least once, even if it s just for the experience. It s really awesome ambience and the food is excellent, although I do feel it s overpriced. They can get it though. People pay for the experience. The cheese is amazing and you can buy a crock to take home at their gift store.
Love this place. As always food was awesome. Service was good
Delicious food and great service, but a tad on the expensive side.
Dinner at angus barn, table in porch area, much lower noise level, happy with seating. Service at 5:30p Friday SLOW, weak bar drink burbon/h2o.
Oyster soup very creamy / few, 2, oysters
Filet dinner cooked fine, service still Slow, waiting for coffee! Owners need to open eyes,
Lots of competition out there!
The food was pretty good, however it's expensive. Definitely a good place for a celebration or special occasion. Our food took an hour to arrive though, even for my two year old. Management was excellent however and more than apologized for the inconvenience, and our waitress was very attentive. Would recommend and return one day.
Place is cool, lots of stuff to look at. It is extremely busy. The food is decent if pricey. I got the new york strip, medium. It came a little over medium and needed seasoning. Was a great cut of meat, very tender, no fat or gristle. Over all a cool place to eat.
Portions are more than generous, sides are massive, steak so tender I'm not sure I needed a knife. If what's on the menu doesn't suit your needs they can customize a cut for you, just call ahead. This place gets packed, so I advise making a Reservation in advance, waits can be upto 3hrs at the door. The ambience & aesthetic is on point, very accommodating Staff, super friendly. They also have a Humidor as well as a package section for additional purchases. Only thing is, that it is a bit pricey, but well worth it in my opinion & experience.
I was looking forward to coming here so much, so it's a little heartbreaking for me to leave a mediocre review. First off, the service and ambiance is great. Our waiter was knowledgeable and super sensitive about dietary restrictions. Starting salads and cheese and crackers were all great. In fact, everything was absolutely perfect until we got to... The steak. My NY strip was overcharred and tasted dry and bitter, even though I ordered medium rare. This might have been the first time in my life that I did not want to finish a steak (but I felt I had to because I paid $45 for it)! My fiance had a filet mignon (supposedly medium) that was actually crumbly in texture because it was so dry. It's a shame, but unfortunately this restaurant did not deliver for us where it mattered. Perhaps it was just an off night, and the otherwise great service will allow us to give them another shot.
Beautifully decorated, waitress was slow!!! Steak to be a filet mignon wasn't up to par, sorry ,but its the truth. .for what you pay I should of been able to cut the steak with a spoon...
The service was excellent, food was absolutely incredible, good to place to go and have a nice meal for whatever occasion you may have
Great steak, ribs, stuffed potatoes and cobbler! Really good food... But wear pants you can let the button out on... Because it's hard to so say no to such good food and you WILL over eat
Great food and wonderful service! You're definitely going to pay top dollar...so for us it will be a rare trip to Angus Barn. My wife ordered a 7 oz filet mignon and I ordered 15 oz New York Strip. She had water, I had a Pepsi. She ordered a slice of cheesecake to go. Together with tip the bill came to $125.00. We had a gift card which paid for most of the bill, or we wouldn't have gone.
All in all a great experience: No problem parking, .nice ambiance, wait staff was excellent, like the cheese and crackers already on the table, good salad.
My only complaint would be the french fries. I hate it when restaurants serve fries with coating on them. Just not a fan.
Like a high end steak house without the high end prices. Went away stuffed each time!
Scrumptious food! Our waiter, Mr. Gagne, was very polite and attentive! Loved seeing all the Christmas decorations!
Absolutely fabulous. I went for my birthday and it couldn't have been more wonderful. The steak was perfect. I would give more than 5 stars if possible.
Went to this place on 2/1/20.Steak was loop warm tea glass went empty twice and we were stuck there for 3 hours. To drive a hour and a half and spend over a hundred dollars. Not worth the trip. O and got upset stomach the next morning just terrible.
4 Stars. In my opinion this is the most over-rated steak restaurant ever. Don't get me wrong, I like Angus Barn. Their food is good but you can get a great steak cooked exactly the way you like at many other places. Menu items are typical to what all the other steak house restaurants offer. Wait times to get a table can be very very long. The Turkey Lounge bar or, when the weather is nice, the back patio are first come, first served and may be a better option than waiting for a table because you can order food from the regular menu. Customer service from wait staff is great, but at the high menu prices it should be. I was treated to a birthday dinner, complete with a balloon tied to my chair. We had our dinner and the waiter asked if we wanted to order any dessert so I had chess pie. When the check was being paid the waiter brought out a box with a piece of birthday cake for me to take home. I really would have preferred to have it for dessert instead of paying for something from the menu. I don't know if that's typical for how they treat people celebrating birthdays but I found it odd compared to other restaurants I've dined at for my birthday.
Beautiful Christmas decorations but nothing after that.. Service was terrible and food land nasty. Only thing good was coffee and most people were lined up at the bathroom probably because of food not sitting well on their stomach! AnyWho my family was treated very unkind by server over and over again. The only reason we did not complain is because we did not want to ruin our time. The manager stop by (really) rushed by asking to ask how we were doing but I just feel like the food does not add up to cost. This is my second time eating hear! first time was OK but this time terrible terrible terrible. I'll enjoy the outside decorations but never again will stop in this place.btw total bill was over 250.00! By the way Daniel was the server. Run from from That snobbish guy!
Experience was great. Food was awesome for the prices. Definitely check out Happy hour. The service was very prompt, had a very great waitress by the name of Tiffany, she was very polite, and kind. She was fast and efficient. Two thumbs up for her, I will definitely be coming back and asking for her.
The Angus Barn has wonderful food and what I really liked the most was the Oyster Rockefellers.. the steak that was in featured ribeye was cooked to perfection a really great Birthday experience.
Quality of steaks superb! Interesting setting love the inside lights near rooftop giving impression of stars. Cheese and crackers before dinner unparalleled.
The "Barn" is my most favorite restaurant! Each time I'm there, the food & service is great! Tonight, since it was late, I enjoyed 2 appetizers with s salad, which was plenty and delicious!!!
It was good, not great. Overpriced. Great Christmas decor, but not what I was paying for.
Great steaks, huge portion size. Love the cheese spread. Good service, friendly atmosphere.
Steak was a litttle tough but the services was good. But will go again. The atmosphere was very nice.
Absolutely amazing! You've got to do the chef's table. Book it months and months in advance.
Enjoyed a nice relaxing evening meal. Sample to Chateaubriand with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh steamed asparagus. Finished it off with a nice Trefethen Vineyards bottle of wine. They have a nice area out front where you can show up before your reservations have a nice beverage some snacks and watch whatever is going on on the big screen TV
This is a neat looking place. They have probably the fanciest women's restroom I have ever seen. It is pricey, and you may have to get reservations ahead of time as it is a very busy place. I loved the butter that comes with the bread. I got a cheeseburger. Heads up their burgers are literally 16oz of beef. Though in itself the size is impressive, the taste wasn't. I ordered medium well, they said there was only 3 choices "red, pink, brown". I went with pink which would be medium. However they gave me what was clearly well done beef, that was frankly burnt and crunchy on the top. Even still, it's a nice place to go on special occasions, we will go back. I will just try something different next time. My wife got filet mignon she loved. Their $18 pound cakes are not worth buying. We got one free because we were celebrating a birthday. Even still they sell for $18 in the gift shop, don't buy in.
Food is good, nothing great. It can be a bit of a stuffy crowd. Interesting decor. Wild Turkey bar is comfortable, but expensive... everything generally is over priced at the restaurant.
All-around amazing! Not only is the food delicious (my husband & I split the Chateaubriand steak...so savory!), but the service is wonderful, too! The atmosphere and history of Angus Barn really makes it a special experience. Our server, Conner, was so helpful and even gave us a tour of the property. Will definitely be back!
A Classic American Steakhouse.
The Angus Barn is an institution in Raleigh, NC. It is the quintessential state capital watering hole. Owned by a local family, it exudes a down home friendly atmosphere while providing first class service and a foodie fit menu. My GF & I stopped in today after Christmas shopping for a cocktail and some apps at the Wild Turkey Bar. We had the Oysters Rockefeller and Crab Dip. They were very nicely prepared and flavorful, as usual. Don't go to the Angus Barn if you are on a budget. But, you get what you pay for and then some. Bon appetite.
Generally a great experience. Service is excellent. 4 stars this time as my meal arrived luke warm though the tuna was cooked perfectly and was tasty ( I was a little steaked out at the time). We had a party of 9; perhaps the the giant 42 ouncer caused mine to sit too long.
You will spend some money here, but it is amazing food and great wait staff!!! Ask your wait staff for a tour.
Allergy friendly! They showed us the separate kitchen they use to prepare meals for people with allergies. This place is outstanding. The people were great and the food was even better.
Food was excellent, service was top notch, couldn't ask for better
Atmosphere was excellent and food was even better. A definite return when I am back in the area.
This place was fabulous. We enjoyed our evening at the angus barn. Our server Andres was fantastic. Only thing that might have been a bit off was my ribeye steak. It was just slightly under cooked. Still tasted great. Atmosphere was cool and very enjoyable. We got a nice corner table for just the two of us. So quiet and quaint. Will go again.
Food wasn't like I expected from listening and reading all the hype but the atmosphere was nice.
Great place. It was my first time and we took my 93 year old mom. The turkey wings for appetizers were superb and our waitress was great. It was a party of 7 and she gave great attention to the things that we needed and she offered excellent advice
Our building closed down last week and we went here to say our farewells wait staff was great and the food was awesome.
We came here for a party for my cousin. Decor was very country but they pack the people into every nook and cranny. Since that party would have been one of the only times I would be eating there I decided to get a better cut of meat than I would normally get. I came away unimpressed. The food was nowhere near worth the prices they had on the menu. I've had better steaks at Ryan's Restaurant in Winston-Salem, Flemming's in Greensboro or Ruth's Chris in Greensboro. Decent for a one time experience but I probably wouldn't go back unless it was for a special occasion. Definitely overrated. It seems it has lasted on reputation alone.
Made reservations a month or so in advance online and our table still was not ready for the reserved time. Even rented a limo to enjoy our night out and celebration. Will end up paying extra limo fees due to the extra long wait time at the restaurant when we had made reservations in advance. Very sub par for a restaurant with this kind of reputation. Not impressed
So good! Everything was top notch! Loved the 10oz filet mignon with stuffed potato.
This was a group function and we had a fixed menu. I had the salmon & my husband had beef tenderloin. We were both very satisfied with our meals, including drinks and desserts. Servers were attentive and efficient. Loved the venue.
Atmosphere great, food not so good. T Bone Steak was tough and tasted like hamburger.
My husband and I had a phenomenal time for our Anniversary. The food was awesome, the wine was amazing and the service was even better.
Great place to go if you're looking for a drink in a very country-homey feel and/or you love steak. For some reason they talk about their special cheese spread, which isn't actually that good, so I recommend skipping it. Otherwise the steak cuts are solid, well cooked and very delicious. It's also a staple of the RDU area and worth checking out whether you live here or are from out of town.
An amazing place for Graduation dinner. The rustic environment coupled with the some of most delicious meat, cheeses and desserts I've had. They were extraordinarily accommodating. Having a party of largely elder people, we requested a secluded environment and recieved a fantastic little corner of the restaurant to ourselves. When a waitress accidentally disturbed the exit door, the manager stepped out and personally apologized and gave us all free deserts, a huge value for a party of 9. Other than the ice tea being a bit weak, the Angus Barn is the perfect place to eat with any group of coworkers, friends or family.
It s the angus barn! Of course it s 5 Stars! The staff is always amazing and so is the atmosphere! We love coming back time after time. The food is great and plentiful! It s a must if you are visiting or live here!
An experience like no other - a time to remember! Make a reservation for this delicious steak house. Jessica was a fantastic server for my son's birthday celebration. Don't forget to ask to go on a tour. Candy was a great tour guide. We met our chef, toured one if the six kitchens, went to the wine cellar, the old meat locker that is now a 'man cave' for smoking cigars, enjoy the back deck & even roasting s'mores around the fire. Enjoy the old elevator from the Durham Prison, the Turkey Lounge upstairs, the gift shop - there is so much to see. The antiques and the history are wonderful. My steak was truly the best filet mignon I've ever had.
A Raleigh gemstone with astounding service. Love the bloody mary, not on the specialty drink menu but ask for it, soooo good. Skip the appetizer and save room for one of their homemade desserts!
The Captains table is very unique experience. It was like having a personal chef and staff. We asked questions about the meal and even joked about some of the food and had a great time. This table is slower paced and more relaxing than hustle and bustle of the main kitchen.
We went for wifey birthday, Captain s table since little one was with us. He had bubbly ginger ale while we had the real bubbly. He is not a fan of veggies, so they brought some ribs from upstairs. Chef enjoyed our son so much that he was asked to help make desserts for the parents.
Priceless experience!!! We will never forget.
Angus Barn always treats you like family.
I took my family out for a special celebration. The food was very good but the service was less than fantastic. Our waiter didn't seem to be very familiar with the menu, we waited quite a bit of time between our courses, we had to remind him to bring us a drink.
For the price, I feel we didn't get our money's worth. I have been here before. It it good but overeat!
Great atmosphere. The service was excellent and we were given a tour of the restaurant, kitchen and wine cellar. Everyone we spoke to said that its a must see if you are in the area.
