They are following the social distancing rules. It's a big pub in a very cool location. The staffs were polite. I ordered a hamburger and it was well done. They didn't ask me how I would like to be cooked. I like it medium. But it was good. Onion rings were fresh and it's a big meal. Its not the best burguer of my life, but it's good.

One of the few spots you can find in London that are so close to the river bank. Really good selection of drinks and food as well as a variety of seats as the place is quite big. The terrace has an amazing view. It's a great place to spend a lovely evening or just drop by while visiting nearby sights.

Really an awful place to eat. It's the oldest restaurant London, so they can easily get away with serving incredibly awful fish and chips and other food that my friends ordered. If you're looking for overpriced food and drinks that are beyond awful, feel free to eat here but do so at your own risk.

I can honestly say I have never been treated so bad when buying a drink - after waiting over half hour to be served she then swore at and told us to f**k off!!!! She then continued to main and abuse the customers until eventually walking out herself! I think your staff need training on customer care !

The Anchor started life as the 'brewery tap room' for the Anchor Brewery, first established in 1616. It is the sole survivor of the riverside inns that existed here in Shakespeare's time when this district was at the heart of theatreland and the Thames was London's principal highway. It was frequented by many actors from the neighbouring playhouses, including the Globe, the Swan and the Rose. It is where diarist Samuel Pepys saw the Great Fire of London in 1666

Just went for drinks before dinner to celebrate our final day in London. We had an hour before the reservation, so we wanted to spend it with a drink or two.

Great location and well decorated inside. The staff seem very nice, including the bartender who was downright jovial.

But the bar was out of, 1) Guinness and, 2) all ales. It was crazy. They were out of a lot of their tap beers. But they re a pub! They have 1 job in life:
Make sure there is beer.

I was disappointed and would probably chose another pub next time.

Went there tonight - as was local to hotel but wish we had checked reviews first.

Food arrived very quickly all at same time -

Large fish meal- fish was cold in the middle as hadn t been reheated in microwave enough - curry sauce had a skin on top as obviously those reheating hadn t made any effort to at least pass as freshly made- peas reheated to point of looking dry - and bread was dry.

No children s menu - so ordered a Macaroni and cheese which was more just a warm cheeese dump-

Right at the Thames' bankside is the nice Anchor Bankside. From the outside it looks very inviting. Inside there's plenty of room for groups of people. We were with 6. The beer was tasty, the coffee good. Free refills for coffee. A very cosy place to revisit. Worth the 5 stars.
