Hotel is at a very convenient location--right in the heart of the city. There are beautiful views of the Sydney opera house and circular quay. The rooms are excellent. The hotel is very clean.
The room is very nice w/ the best view of the opera house & bridge. However, the gym is too loud to hear my own DVD player workout instructions b/c of the loud music background & people running on treadmills. Lastly, the elevator is too slow. The average waiting time is about 3-5 minutes.
Went there only to go to the cocktail bar on the 46th floor. Wow what s view and great cocktails.
The good, location, accommodations, views from rooms, cleanliness of hotel, public spaces, bkft buffet selections and the Shangri-la honey and the entire Altitude staff was awesome especially the gentleman that is responsible for the operations. Sorry horrible with names.
Areas of improvement, staff seems robotic in certain areas and uncomfortable in particular in restaurant for breakfast, some front of the house staff could be a little more pleasant by simply smiling, rooms need updating.
Overall I would recommend this hotel and would stay here as well as other Shagri-la hotels.
The view is very good and there are many decent restaurants around. Public transportation is also on the other hand.
Awesome rocks location great to tour Circular Quay and surrounds
One of the top hotels in Sydney. Amazing location and some of the best views as well.
We went to see the giant gingerbread train on display and the staff were very accommodating.
Was there for a conference not a stay. Employees so very professional and helpful, especially the front desk and catering.
Always a pleasure to stay at the Shangri-La in Sydney. Stunning views!
I have stayed at many Shangri-La's in the world but this was by far the worse experience. It did not live up to the brand. I carried my bags in myself, checked in by a young lady who was busy trying to sell me f&B vouchers and when I asked her what cuisines were on offer, she could not even answer.
I stayed in the Shangri-La in Singapore the week before and it was a wonderful experience.
I will not be staying in the Sydney property again.
One of my favourite hotels in Sydney. Beautiful views and excellent breakfast.
Was very helpful with a difficult request relating to a new car being delivered. Also provided an upgrade and fantastic welcome gift for our anniversary
Had room 2302. View great. The king size bed was none, but that was not the thing. Had complained if it had not fit. But the cleanliness in the room would not have been okay for a 0 star hotel. Towels were missing on one day, the bathroom and toilet were not cleaned. For the number of stars and the price that does not work. Staff is very polite and tried hard.
5 rating for location, views from room and staff at brunch and room service person
3 rating for staff (felt understaffed and absolutely no feeling of personalized treatment
2 rating for room cleaning- if you asked them to come back in the morning there was 50-50 chance they would and would have to call.
We had evening turn down service only once in four night
1 rating for the 36th floor restaurant/bar- tried three times and all times it was full and no special treatment for those stating at hotel.
Also, no other place to lounge with view or to be outside
Stand out employees were Minh and Hitomi at our last brunch-
2 rating for staff at check in,
The best thing about your hotel is your people. They were unfailingly polite and helpful. You have a proactive team who anticipate needs. Well done!
We visited the bar: very nice view and great cocktails
Hot water and pressure of water was shocking. For the price paid I expected alot more. Will not recommend or stay at Shangrila Sydney again. Very dissapointed.
Not worth as u can see the view of Opera house, rest services are not upto the mark of 5 star hotel
Lovely view of the harbour from the restaurant. Food was good but not spectacular. Service was personable and attentive.
The food drinks and service was top notch.
Didn't like the event room sizes, no sitting arrangments and lack of open spaces. Overall experience was great.
Best hotel experience i've had in Sydney - been travelling there regularly and this was my first stay at the Shangri La, hoping to return!
Pleasent stays, great service and awesome view from the room
Check in was delayed by an hour. Staff was nice and compensated the inconvenience by throwing in breakfast.
Views amazing. Disappointed by limited room service menu (maybe it is because of COVID). Overall will highly recommend hotel.
A lovely time. Our breakfast waiter Silvio was so delightful! Testing alarms at 7am Saturday was a bit surprising.
Stayed for weekend mainky for Vivid festival. Went to buffet dinner twice and breakfast. Enjoyable experience. Nice decor.
Even if you presented a credit card at check-in, you were asked for a deposit only here.
Although it was a Chinese woman, although it was a gold card, the family was angry at a suspicious response.
The luggage was kept in advance, but was not transported to the room.
It is disappointing that the response that you bring like you when you go out.
It was other Chinese female staff at the time of checkout, but it was very nice correspondence.
The elevator has a very long wait time.
Cleaning was good, but I felt that the facilities were getting old because the door was not built properly.
I ordered a box breakfast for sightseeing, but the bread was like the previous people and only the fruit was fresh.
Clean, quiet spacious rooms. Friendly staff and a great location
hotel was wonderful
very helpful concierge
great service all around
delicious food
unbeatable views
By far the best hotel in Sydney, great rooms and veiws to die for it ain't cheap buy it a once in a life time opportunity to rent a room and experience how the rich people live life.
One of the best hotels so far. Exceptional level of service. Highly recommend.
The light in the closet was fliquering and making terrible noise
I could not sleep all night
When the engineer came (past midnight) he had a very loud radio and did not understand there were kids sleeping in the room - very 2 star service
This hotel ticks like a finely balanced Swiss watch. On arrival I was greeted by Malvina,an impeccably attired, and charming young lady, who escorted me to my suite on the 27th floor, the view from here, overlooking Circular Quay, the Harbour bridge, and the Opera house was absolutely spectacular.
Every member of staff I encountered, during my stay, were polite, efficient, and obliging.
A splendid hotel, surely the best in Sydney.
Unquestionably one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at and we have travelled to over 30 countries. The views were sensational, the staff were excellent and could not do enough for you, the room was just fabulous and the food was above average.
The Club Lounge was on par with other hotels but opened a bit late at 6 p.m. which is the latest we have experienced, otherwise it was perfect.
The view is amazing! Overlooking opera house and harbour bridge. Close to everything.
So professional. Exceeded our expectations. Service is excellent.
Wonderful staff.Won't see anyone without a smile.True value for money.Special thanks to cafe mix manager Vinay for his dedication. Kids love the indoor pool.Valet parking is great. Will be back again for sure.
Blu Bar is the place to go for the sunset. Get there before they open, as space is limited.
Very nice hotel. Super located with great views of the harbor and the opera. The restaurants should be improved. Atmosphere and offer!
Truly a world class experience. I have stayed in your property in Nov 18 and recently from 8-10th Feb 19.
Your room and service meets the five star level which most of the 5 star hotels lack.
I would definitely stay in other Shangri-La properties and highly recommend to my family and friends
Always excellent. Room was superb. Clean. very comfortable.
The food was beautiful to look up, and the food was very good, we have the degustation menu, the best dishes were the sashimi, and the beef, the rest were OK not amazing. Although the service wasn't bad, the attention to details left them down. We have to ask twice for water, my boyfriend was asked which bread we wanted it, but got the wrong one. I just being more critical because when you pay $500 for dinner you expect more. Perhaps my expectations were too high
Awesome view and great staff working the bar. One of Sydney's hidden treasures
Great service however average food options in the Horizon Lounge and buffet breakfast.
Been to Blu bar many times. Love the cocktails and the excellent service delivered by lovely staff, especially hostess. However, the bar manager in blue suit was extremely rude. After drinking a glass of cocktail, I closed my eyes for few mins to rest. I was suddenly woken up because of him and he tried to expel me from the bar and I have NO IDEA. I m here to support your business and you expel you customers away. AWESOME!
Had an exceptional stay. Thoroughly enjoyed the facilities and magnificent views.
Excellent in all areas: Staff, Service, Location, and the view from our room was spectacular. High tea was a high point during our visit.
The Shangri-la or as it is known the Shang
Has one of the most stunning views which makes it one of the most sought-after hotels in Sydney the lobby is just stunning and it's clear to see the staff love their work
The top floor of the hotel hosts the altitude restaurant and the Blu bar
The Blu bar opens at 5pm it does not take reservations so get there early however altitude does need reservations
- Update menu (mainly breakfast)
- Staff in person are great, staff on the phone when calling from your room, very poor... it sounded like i was an inconvenience to them
- Room Service was not a good experience. The hot food was cold, only warm in parts and the garden salad which you expect to be cold was warm. I don't know how long our food was sitting there for but when you order $100 worth of food across 4 dishes (pasta, club roll, bowl of chips and a salad) you expect it to arrive to your room as if you were ALMOST dining in the restaurant. (Almost... I do not expect it to be the same but the simple things need to be right such as temperature)
Just splendid, the most enjoyable hotel room I've stayed in.
Your staff are wonderful.
If you were to add some more options to the breakfast menu (grilled tomatoes, tobasco), I'd be incapable of asking for more. I feel bad even saying that.
Service was great but food variety could be better.
Great service, let us check in early which helped as we had just landed and wanted to drop our luggage and go for lunch, we will probably stay again when we are in Sydney
I was very disappointed. My daughter and I checked into our room at 12 and were told about maintenance in lifts but we're told one lift was working which was not the case we were unable to get down from 34 floor u til 1. Also my daughter had a bath and there was something wrong with the drains and the bathroom flooded it took 45 minutes for someone to come up which is totally unacceptable it was very dangerous and Inconvient I contacted the duty manager and we were moved rooms apparently to an upgraded room I didn't ask to be upgraded. We were given complimentary breakfast. My disappointment as I mentioned to your manager was my daughter and I had one night in your hotel and our aim was to be sitting in the lounge on the 36th floor for sunset of course this didn't happen due to the long wait for the bathroom and new keys before I could have a shower. Not that
This is your concern but the reason for
Our trip for 1 night only was my husband has just had a major operation and my daughters grandfather passed away last week so it has been a very difficult time for a 13 year old girl to take . What should have been a beautof mother daughter night in the city was held up but silly things. I also found the manger to be quite dismissive. And definately not the way a expect a 5 star hotel manager to talk to their guests.
Punching above their wait.for the price pretty average.lift a nightmare
Good Service, good food, and the great view .
Loved the inclusive food deal with afternoon tea & dinner.
I was overwhelmed by the amazing view of the 6-hole-a-la-carte restaurant
Perfect! Staff very nice. The whole place is beautiful. Room with a great view of Opera house. I even asked if i can have a room at a higher level as i was originally booked on the 5th floor and it was approved. Bed very comfy. In room dining was great. Room very clean. Highly recommend this hotel. I had the buffet breakfast at Cafe Mix, $42pp, had everything except mushrooms or tomatoes to go with the bacon n eggs staff very friendly, food great. I only stayed one night but it's a night i won't forget anytime soon!
To be honest this stay was disappointed. Firstly we were given wrong rooms (we booked for connecting rooms) so that we had to come back to the reception and wait for the staff to find the connecting room for us.We spend at least half an hour struggling maintaining kids while they were looking for rooms for us. Secondly, the pressure of the shower water was so low. I did not enjoy showing at all. Thirdly, we booked for Horizon Club room. We went to the afternoon tea. I felt embarrassed by the limited food provided for afternoon tea (only a few choices of cakes, scone and two types of sandwiches). My husband and I felt so lucky we did not invite our friend for afternoon tea. Otherwise, we would lose face. There are some other small things as well. The whole facility looks needing refurbish badly; the pillows were not comfortable. When I asked for contour pillow but the pillow they sent me did not feel like that was a contour pillow.
However, the staffs are very nice and help. They are your true asset.
Great room with great view of the House of Opera and city centre. Walking distance to the pier
Very nice hotel with the best views of Sydney habour bridge and the Opera house. Would recommend!
Hotel in the best location. Located close to the in district THE ROCKS. Corner room with views of the Opera and Harbor Bridge first class.
The windows should be cleaned, otherwise very clean. ALTIDUDE restaurant on the top floor with the best view. Breakfast buffet very rich.
Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney in the rocks area. Free Review no charge. #wozzellocalguideoffocial
Great room, good front desk, great breakfast.
Slooow bartenders and Valet damages your car.
Skybar (Blue bar) took 45 min waiting to get two glasses of champagne! Bartenders took forever. Sunset was over when the glasses arrived.
Car was damaged when we got it from Valet parking and they deny that it was their fault. I don t trust people who self check if they ve done something wrong. They won t let me watch the security camera tapes either ( you need a warrant for us to release it ). What can be so sensitive watching a car park video? (Maybe my car getting damaged?) Luckily I took our older car since I had read about similar customer experiencies at their valet parking. Won t come back to Shangri-la anytime soon.
Wonderful hotel, stunning views, excellent service, all in a great location.
The room was for 18 guests and I felt like the room is too small and view wasn't good. (Outside of room was much better) The most worst thing was 5 course of meal. We are not satisfied with foods. We were waiting the next course for ages. It took so long!! One dish in every 40mins...
Stayed at Shangri-La for few nights. We drove there so we had to use their vallet service to park the car. We didn t use our car at all during our stay so the car stayed overnight at the hotel. Upon checkout and got our car back, there s an external lighting warning on our car dashboard. Obviously we didn t have this problem before (otherwise we didn t need to mention it here). So we went out from the car and checked all the lights to make sure they re working allright. When checking the rear light, we noticed that few areas of the back of the car (left bumper) dented. We reported this problem to the attended staff and manager. They took some photos and asked us to fill out an incident form and the hotel promised to call us within 3 business days as they need to investigate and watch the CCTV video. After waiting for more than 5 business days (no one called), I called the hotel. They said the parking manager was not in that day and the next day they will call me. No one called the next day. So I waited few more days and called again. The parking department staff picked up the phone so I told him about the incident. He told me the manager wasn t around and asked me which car was mine? I asked them back how many incidents did you have?
He took my details and said that the manager should call me or email me very soon. Few days later (today) no one from the hotel called or emailed.
We can t believe how 5 star luxury hotel can be so ignorant and not professional at all. We re thinking to file a formal complaint to the Australian Fair Trading.
Large rooms with great views. Hotel was very family friendly
Great place to stay in The Rocks - near to a lot of the attractions and transportation. Very nice hotel, get the breakfast option, totally worth it.
We loved our room with a view and enjoyed a lovely lunch (also with a great view) at Altitude. Only issue, we had to wait for over half an hour on arrival for our room fridge to be replaced as it wasn't working but apart from this we really enjoyed our stay.
