I called Americollect on May 17, 2021, because I noticed that a bill sent to them from Baton Rouge Radiology Group was still on my credit report. Baton Rouge Radiology received the payment and cashed the check in March 2021
I sent Americollect a copy of the check, both the front and the back, and they told me they would check into the matter. When they did not call me back, I called them. The young woman looked up the information and implied that Baton Rouge Radiology Group replied that I did not make a payment. I asked her for clarification, and she stated that the Baton Rouge Radiology group never returned their correspondence.
I then called the Baton Rouge Radiology group, the main number, and the billing department's number. I spoke with a young man on the phone who verified all my information and asserted that I paid the $143.50. He also stated that he would contact the collection agency, Americollect, and tell them the account is closed. I should call Americollect within the next five business days to verify that the account is closed because I paid the balance.
On May 24, 2021, I checked my credit report. The Americollect debt was still on my account, so I called and spoke with a young woman named Sarah. I told her about May 17 incident. She said that Americollect contacted Baton Rouge Radiology Group on May 14 and May 19 and received no reply. I called Baton Rouge Radiology and told them the story.
The young man on the phone stated that his partner called Americollect on May 17, and he informed them that I paid the debt. The young man left me on Hold to check to see what may have happened because either Americollect or Baton Rouge Radiology lied.
He then gets on the phone and tells me that Baton Rouge Radiology wants to refund me the $143.50. They had already accepted the payment. I became enraged because Baton Rouge Radiology continued to damage my credit after they received payment. I demanded to speak with someone higher up because this fraud was unacceptable.
The young man transferred me to a supervisor. This supervisor told me only the manager could contact Americollect. I informed her that no one told me about this chain of command on May 17. I told her that I want to speak with the manager today. Pam was not at her desk, so I stated that I would wait on the phone until Pam returned.
Baton Rouge Radiology received the payment in March 2021; however, they never contacted or informed Americollect about the debt payment. I called Americollect and Baton Rouge Radiology and merged the call. Pam was still not at her desk. I refused to leave the phone because I want those charges removed.
Americollect's representative mysteriously received a copy of the check and informed me that they would remove the debt from my credit report. We will wait and see what happens.
