It's not in a very noisy part of the city. I like going here when I'm due for a donation but can't set an appointment. I don't feel rushed here. Only drawback is on a few occasions, the computer system was messed up and they had to cancel the appointments. I've gotten there 2X to have this happen. A third time, I checked my email before heading out and saw the cancelation notice.

My family and I needed shelter and they did not provide us a place to stay. They claimed its because my dad was an "owner." Very sad about that because now we're living in a horrible condition in the Bronx.

After losing my place to a fire from a neighboring place, I got told my home was deemed hazardous & not livable. Red Cross finally shows up late into the night, with out enough blankets or water. Then they took sweet time to assist all the families.

Great place to volunteer. Caring staff. I volunteered to install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in people's homes. Very gratifying experience and the recipients were very appreciative. It's always good to give back to the community. It was part of my company's (Keller Williams NYC Real Estate) day of contribution to our community.

This is a great organization. The historical posters on the wall inside the building are a pretty cool touch. I've been here to get first-aid training and both instructors I've had were excellent. The place is way on the West Side, so factor that into travel plans.

I went to get trained in Pediatric CPR First Aid. Waited over an hour for the instructor :/ Overall it was quite a learning experience. Very hands on especially when you have a class with only three people.

Classes are good. Customer service sucks. They ripped me off on supplies. I gave them the requested 2 weeks to fix the situation and they did nothing. My next step is contacting my bank, a lawyer, and the better business bureau for guidance on how to get my money back.

The building is a bit sterile and empty, so it feels cold and unwelcoming. However, the people who work here and administer your blood donations are incredibly friendly. If you're looking to donate to an organization with a national network, this isn't a bad place to do it.

Overall it takes a bit over an hour and you get snacks afterward.

I seem to live and breathe in the place 24-7 ( I work and volunteer as a Supervising Full Responder and Field Trainer for the DAT Response Department), so my comment here could be considered as bias. But I will state this: it is a fact that the ARC provides services that help bring countless others out of despair and into resolve. Be it responding to fires and vacates, collecting donated blood for those in greater need, providing free fire alarms to the less fortunate, or offering and teaching necessary training and skills to those looking to also make a tremendous difference, the American Red Cross in Greater New York is certainly an entity or organization that strives in the field of absolute optimism and overall benefit to those living in the greater NY area. Again, that is a fact. Ya heard?!

During a NY natural disaster I traveled to this location to offer my volunteer services. I had previously donated money during other disasters but wanted to offer REAL help not just money. I sat through an orientation/training and was even photographed by their PR dept during the meeting (I was a successful model and actor). I was then led to a hallway and left where I sat alone forever waiting to be dispatched to the location to actually help those in need. It never happened and I finally left dejected vowing to never support this organization again.

The American Red Cross and MIRA USA come together to help in disaster areas such as tornadoes, earthquakes, fires, etc. The Red Cross trains anyone who wants to be a volunteer sharing the experience that characterizes them and so the help is for millions of people including animals. You are invited to be part of the difference and being that helping hand. Thanks to The American Red Cross and MIRA USA for the opportunity and knowledge they share with us to bring it to those who need it.

Update from July 31, 2020:

Update from July 31, 2020:
Unfortunately New York Blood Center refuse to provide donors with information about the count of COVID-19 antibodies present in the donated convalescent plasma. My calls to American Red Cross to clarify such donations also went unanswered. Disappointing that during such a crucial pandemic time, with billions provided by government to fight the outgoing disaster, the New York Blood Centers refuse to inform donors if their convalescent plasma useful for treatment of hospitalized patient with Covid-19 infection. As I understand that if the count of donor s COVID-19 antibodies is below 380 I.U. convalescent plasma donations are useless. I donated my plasma on May 21 and getting calls and texts from the New York Blood Center asking me to donate again. I would love to do it, but it is not reason to donate and waste much needed financial and human resources if my plasma has low count of antibodies, it makes any plasma (of recovered from COVID infection donor) worthless.
I really want to donate my convalescent plasma as often as possible to save lives, however my calls to administration of the New York Blood Center to change this policy are useless so far. If anyone know how to check the level of COVID-19 antibodies please send me an email NewYorkCityDad@gmail.com My name is Sergio.
