Update from July 31, 2020:
Unfortunately New York Blood Center refuse to provide donors with information about the count of COVID-19 antibodies present in the donated convalescent plasma. My calls to American Red Cross to clarify such donations also went unanswered. Disappointing that during such a crucial pandemic time, with billions provided by government to fight the outgoing disaster, the New York Blood Centers refuse to inform donors if their convalescent plasma useful for treatment of hospitalized patient with Covid-19 infection. As I understand that if the count of donor s COVID-19 antibodies is below 380 I.U. convalescent plasma donations are useless. I donated my plasma on May 21 and getting calls and texts from the New York Blood Center asking me to donate again. I would love to do it, but it is not reason to donate and waste much needed financial and human resources if my plasma has low count of antibodies, it makes any plasma (of recovered from COVID infection donor) worthless.
I really want to donate my convalescent plasma as often as possible to save lives, however my calls to administration of the New York Blood Center to change this policy are useless so far. If anyone know how to check the level of COVID-19 antibodies please send me an email NewYorkCityDad@gmail.com My name is Sergio.
