This is by far the best tailoring experience. I am happy to report that the dresses were altered perfectly and look like they were custom-made for me. Definitely recommend this location!

Marva is AMAZING!!!!! I cannot say WOW and THANK YOU enough! I had a full lace backed wedding dress that needed to be altered due to some Covid weight gain and now being pregnant. I thought all hope was lost, but came across Alteration Specialists and Marva and she promised they could tailor it so I could still wear the dress my dreams -- and they did! Marva found a matching lace and hand sewed additional pieces in the back so that it matched seamlessly and added small additional panels on the side to accommodate by growing belly. I couldn't be happier and more impressed with Marva and Alteration Specialists. She was a joy to work with and calmed any fears I had that the dress wouldn't fit and that it would be ready in the month's time! For all the work done, the cost was very reasonable too. Five Stars all the way.

I've had several dresses altered here. This place has extremely talented tailors. The work product is excellent. I needed some last minute alterations for an event and Alteration Specialist's uptown location was able to turn around the alterations successfully. Very happy with the experience and results. This is one of those services that you just never thought existed. Once you use them, you will never be able to get something tailored elsewhere. Took a tough shoulder job on an older suit, and it was tailored perfectly. Not an easy job either, 2 other tailors said it wasn't possible. From the experience, to the service, this company is really the gold standard in tailoring. So happy that they are near my home and work as well. My wife is going to try the home office service, she is super excited about that.

These guys are awesome. Super professional, engaged and efficient. I had an emergency with a button that came off on my suit before a dinner. Called them up and they said come on in and fixed it in minutes. Not a big alteration, but you can tell whether a business is with it or not within seconds of walking in...these guys run a great business and care about helping people.

I had my wedding dress altered here and the wedding jumpsuit I was changing into for dancing. My dress was very complex and very detailed and I knew it would not be an easy job for any alterations professional. If you need your dress altered ask for Marva Edmund. She helped fix my wedding dress to literally fit me perfectly. She was professional, very pleasant and her work is flawless. She put my needs first overall which I appreciated because most places only see you as a price tag. If I ever get married again I'd definitely come to her again for my alterations

Great Experience !! My specialist was Ms. Marva ! She was lovely. My event was less than a week away and Marva got he job done. I went to several places and I was not convinced the job could get done in such short notice. She worked fast and efficiently . Sweetest person not to mention. The details were amazing! Another amazing experience exactly like their downtown location! I'm so glad that I found this place and that they have two locations where my work and home is in in-between them! My overall experience and the place itself was clean, organized, smooth, and very professional. The price is decent especially because they're the best of the best. The tailors and the front desk lady know what they're doing and allowed my dress to be done for rush the following day! I'm definitely coming back here again for my next alterations!

I brought in a new suit for altering. They hemmed the pants which was fine. The work on the suit coat was disappointing. Straight away I pointed out the buttons not being lined up properly with the button hole stitching. I also asked for stacked, kissing buttons. Some buttons stacked and others did not. They took the suit coat back (as I waited) to fix it. It came back the same. To me, they don t care about the work they put out. I took the suit coat to another tailor. I will not be giving them future business.

There's nothing better than a confident tailor! Prior to going to Alteration Specialists, two different establishments denied tapering my pair of designer cargo pants because they said design was "too intricate alter." I was very fortunate to discover Alteration Specialists because not only did they accept the task to alter my cargo pants but the tailor also displayed 100% confidence in his craftsmanship during the fitting which is something that I find truly valuable. My pants alteration came out amazing! I will be going to Alterations Specialists moving forward for all of my clothing.

The team worked magic on the my vintage 1973 leather bomber. I couldn't even tell that alterations were done. That is the sign of a good tailor! Highly recommend. Experience was night and day better than typical alteration shops.

Best alternations in NYC! I booked an appointment just a few days in advance and I came in with a cocktail dress that needed to be shortened within two weeks for a party. I was scared because it was so last minute and other tailoring places I've been to usually don't accommodate for rushed alterations. But Nigel, the manager, promised me that his tailors would have it done in time. I was really happy when I got a phone call telling me that my dress was ready to be picked up - it was earlier than I expected. In terms of atmosphere, everyone there is really friendly and willing to give you exactly what you want. I recommend coming here for any alterations you need.

This place is awesome!! Very pricey but you get what you pay for. Fanny did my dress and she's amazing, please ask for her she did such a great job on my dress! It was a long ball gown with difficult panelling and she managed to take it down two sizes and still make it look good (and not distorted), and I didn't trust a normal dry cleaner to do it. Thank you Fanny!

Best tailors. I was using downtown location for a long time. But the uptown is the biggest GEM. This space is amazing and super high end.

I used their downtown location and was very happy. I was so happy to learn they had an uptown location (so much closer to my apartment). I worked with Nadine at the uptown location, and she did an excellent job altering my dresses. I would absolutely recommend Alteration Specialists.

I used Alteration Specialists' Union Square location previously and had an awesome experience. I was thrilled to discover this uptown location that was way more convenient for me! Had a great experience from scheduling my appointment, meeting with the tailor, and receiving my garment in a seriously impressively short timeframe. Can't say enough about the work Alteration Specialists does. The customer service, quality (and speed!) of work, and the price point-- all in all, can't be beat.

If you have patience and time to spend with multiple fittings I would recommend their services 10/10. I brought in a vintage gown with bias cut geometric panels to be taken down 3 sizes...no easy task! The end result was perfection and I am happy with the results. My advice for tricky pieces: make an appointment with their "specialty" tailor, he is the one to go to initially for hard projects as he brings a very close eye and attention to detail!

Ornela was so amazing. She made my life before the wedding so much easier. She simply delivered accurately and timely, she was dedicated and very thorough. I bought a sample dress with a lot of beading. She fixed everything perfectly, double checked and cut all the threads right before I picked it up before the wedding. She gave the best suggestion of tools to use to help get dressed and undressed. It seems to be slightly pricey if you compare them with some other places, but honestly it is totally worth the money in my opinion. I've heard so many horror stories about how dress fitting could go wrong from people around me, and with Alteration Specialists, I didn't have to worry at all and completely trusted their amazing work.

Nothing should be more simple for a tailor or seamstress than hemming a pair of khakis. Perhaps sewing a button... Take 'em to the seamstress at your local dry cleaner and, presto! Unfortunately, not so fast. How many times has my local hack screwed this up. Ok, so I'm particular, very particular. But really, outside seam top of band to bottom of hem 40" is not that difficult an instruction to follow. I recently brought a dozen pairs of khakis of various shades and weights to Alteration Specialists. Half were new, half were redos. My only instruction beyond the above was to please do a good job--no uneven legs, please, and 40" means, well, 40". I've tried most of them on and actually worn four of them (the only real way to try). The verdict: fantastic! So far, spot on! I will, for sure, be using them again. By the way, I was shocked by the price. Given the address and "this is not your seamstress stuffed in a corner of you local dry cleaner" setup I expected the price to be far higher. In fact I almost felt I was undercharged. Well done, everyone!!! BTW, I HAVE NOT BE ASKED OR SOLICITED OR KNOW THE OWNER OR RECEIVED SPECIAL CONSIDERATION FOR POSTING THIS! -Will

The cuffs of my Canada Goose jacket were ruined by a subpar trailer and alteration specialists came to my rescue. They went to the garment district and replaced the cuffs perfectly and quickly so I didn t freeze my a** off without my warmest jacket. Lol Great work I plan on coming back with more prices.

Terrible experience - in shortening the sleeves of a blazer, they altered it so that my arms could barely move (they made the armpit opening tiny, preventing any mobility). I had to wait around for them to try to fix it - and when I returned I spent 10 minutes trying to buzz at the entrance (and call) for someone to let me in. Only managed to get in when someone else left... won't return.

Beautiful and open space - very clean. The staff was very friendly and attentive and got what I needed done very quickly. I was surprised since I thought I had a difficult task for them, but everything was done perfectly!
