This was perhaps the most humiliating, disturbing, unprofessional experience I have ever had with a clinic or health-related office. When you are seeking help, you need to be listened to and treated with respect. Here, the patient is treated as sub-human. They also did a few things that were illegal. The counselors are undereducated and lack experience, the one doctor has a very poor, hostile bedside manner. Absolutely third world. I can back up everything that is said here with documentation. This is an honest and real review. The experience here did damage. I've since heard other seriously negative reviews. It was just absolutely demeaning. I have seen reviews elsewhere where the executive director jumps in and says he will not respond to anything negative, which he says can't be true, but will only listen to positive constructive criticism. That is part of the problem. They/he cannot handle criticism, and if you dare to give it-- that's when it gets illegal. They won't give you your chart (illegal). They won't give information to you that you request (illegal). They won't return phone calls. Much harm was done. I strongly advise others seeking help to please please take into consideration the very upset reviews across the internet from many different people over many different years.

I want to counter some of the negative reviews as I've been going here for 7 months now and have had nothing but generally good experiences.

There is a bit of a wait to get a therapist, but this place provide good quality care at affordable costs.

My experiences with Dr. Paul, the psychiatrist, have been fine.

The communication is good. They were quick to defer me to a new therapist when my therapist left the clinic for personal reasons.

I'm seeing a lot of negative reviews for this place, and I just wanna say that I've been seeing a therapist since November 2016 from the clinic, and they have been very helpful, professional, and understanding. Not once have I felt judged, ignored, uncared for, or as a "sub-human" as someone here described. On the contrary, I have found it to be a good place with a holistic approach to psychoanalysis- not only focuses on the psychiatry of the mind, but attempting to unpack the subconscious.

Not all therapists, and not all clinics will be ideal or good for everybody. Unless someone has been actively discriminated against, or made to feel disrespected or inferior, disliking the methodology implemented by a given establishment doesn't make it bad. It makes it unsuitable for that particular individual. To whomever has had a bad or negative experience, I'm really sorry you've felt you've been treated unfairly. But I'm here to defend the place that's helped me overcome some of the baggage I've been carrying.

Before dismissing a place because of one bad review, try it out and see if it works for you!

Dr. Paul is by far the worst psychiatrist I have ever seen, including the ones who have straight up fallen asleep on me during our time. He has now tried to re-ecommend at least 3 or 4 times a medication that gave me severe chest pains and trouble breathing/swallowing. Then, he tried to prescribe a medication that was going to cost $1000/month, and when I said it was too expensive, he said that I just didn't know the process and it wasn't that expensive and tried to represcribe it. Turns out, I was right, it was going to cost $1000 even after insurance, and the supposed alternative I was supposed to have sent to the pharmacy was never prescribed. Trying to get anything done with Dr. Paul requires days of phone tag, because even when I have talked to his assistant about problems with medication I was having (you know, like sever chest pains, or insane price tags), those messages never seem to actually get to him. This is all not even gracing his terrible bedside manner, like noticing that I have tattoos and saying that he's noticed a correlation between people who have multiple tattoos and those who do hard drugs. I could take the fact that he has almost no social graces if that's all I had to deal with, but the fact of the matter is he's completely incompetent as a psychiatrist. Unfortunately, I am absolutely in love with my therapist here, so I don't want to leave the clinic, but it's almost worth it with how frustrating and terrible Dr. Paul is.

Undoubtedly the best therapists I have ever seen in my life, and I've seen over 10. The waiting area is comfortable and clean with a water cooler and plenty of tissues. Everyone is really friendly and all of my experiences have been completely positive. I would recommend this clinic to anyone, especially if they feel that therapy doesn't work for them.

I make an appointment to see a therapist at the Karen Horney Clinic since a lot of of life challenges had hit me at once, like a move, job loss, father having a triple heart bypass, and an intake specialist asks me fortyinutes of personal questions as my intake, and she then says it takes a few weeks to be matched with a therapist...I leave thinking okay, I can wait a few weeks...Months go by, and nothing. And today, almost three months later, still nothing.
What does it take to get mental help!!
This is why people crack.
Instead of cracking, I'm going to pay attention to the Michael Phelps mental health ads: Safe Space, and see if I can finally talk to someone who cares about helping someone who is simply going through a tough time.
