I was transferred here from John Muir Concord. The private rooms in itself is much needed plus the ability to take a shower as well. The care from the team there was excellent.

It was great until you have to wait for the doctor to come back the hospital is correct cold like the North Pole so get ready you might need full puffed jacket and long pants.
My Son did time there they where great Team of workers from front desk too luch lady and security They all show me family big love when needed it Most
I've been to Alta Bates' ER twice and had surprisingly pleasant experiences both times ("Surprisingly" because I've had some downright awful and humiliating experiences in other ER's). Wait time was less than 30mins... Doctors, PA's and nurses were all extremely kind and patient with me... My medical issues were resolved within 2hrs... Kinda hard to find a downside! Hope I can continue to count on them in the future :)
I hate this place with all my heart but they have a wonderful team in the ICU. Thank you.
A company is made up of the people who work there. Dr. Joseph B. Nakhleh's behavior is very shocking and very unacceptable. What doctor would tell a very ill patient, "this is not a hotel." He is just the opposite of what a physician should be and how a physician should act. Treat people the way that you want to be treated. The leadership, David Clark and Dr. Ursula Boynton are very poor examples of leadership. We have yet to hear anything back from them regarding Dr. Nakhleh's behavior. I would NOT recommend this hospital. Period.
Pneumonia took me there. Waited 25 minutes to be tended to; waiting room was full. Quickly sent To Xray, met with Dr. after 25 minutes and he reviewed the results-pneumonia.Filled prescribed meds at pharmacy. Checked out
My experience at Summit Hospital was outstanding. The treatment that I received beginning with the triage nurse and doctor to the two nurses in the emergency room was spectacular. I was in a very bad way with A-fib. I spent four days in ICU and the care I received , is difficult to put in words a simple thank you doesn t do it justice. The doctor that drained the fluid from around my heart took the time to explain to me what was happening. The doctors that followed up on my care were very professional and also planned with us my after care. I would like to mention the nurse s name in ICU and on the eighth floor but I will protect their privacy.
Was the contact for my family member who had a cardiac procedure done. 2 hrs of waiting for updates when I contacted a staff member was told she was in procedure room. After the procedure she was transfered to the 8th floor I was given a phone call to advise me she had been transfered, the staff knew I was waiting outside in the lounge . A little more consideration and updates would make the family less stressed with the added anxiety. Maybe invest in a board that shows where the patient is when having procedures and surgery.
On August 1 at 2:30AM I was admitted with A fib and heart attack - a large terrible nurse named Mark was one of my nurses and he was so obnoxious and rough physically that he grabbed me and cut my skin. I said I am older and fragile why are you rushing around like this; he said I do everything in a hurry and then it gets done. I looked at my arm and said look you cut me; I was bleeding. He muttered some kind of sorry and went on his way while someone else had to bandage me. He was nasty with all the persons in that room while I was there for 5 hours. He should be discharged. Nursing is not his profession. He reminds me of a vietnam vet who is taking out all his agressions on the patients. God help me if I ever have to see him again-- I would scream bloody murder. He does not deserve to be a nurse. The other nurses were fine; but because of him one stars.
I want to thank all the fire and rescue workers who carried me down 82,Rocky uneven step, thanks to to ER staff that worked so quickly to save my life, and the staff on PCU8 who cared for me till I was able to go home for Christmas
Suzanne
5 plus to all staff members.
A family member suffered a heart attack who later passed, the Doctor and staff were very comforting and patient.
Terrible place. Was in er 3 hours plus and not seen by anyone and was bleeding They dont care here
Ill never go back. Dont go here..even if your life deprnds on it. Go elsewhere please
My mother was admitted to Alta Bates with sepsis secondary to PNA. She was in and out of ICU r/t fluid overload, low O2 sats, afib and heart failure. During this 10 day stay, she had a significant fall, causing skin tears and bruising. This occurred when she repeatedly pressed the call light with no response and attempted to get up on her own as she needed to use the commode. She was left sitting in her own feces on the floor for 20 min.
When a charge nurse questioned why a family member was staying overnight with my mother, my sister mentioned the fall. The charge nurse became irate and denied that my mom had fallen, stating there was no documentation of a fall.
We had my mother transferred to Stanford where she has received excellent care and recovering. AVOID ALTA BATES! POOR NURSING CARE, DIRTY ROOMS, UNPROFESSIONAL.
Small private prayer room on the bottom. I recommend to find peace and solitude. God is good!
Very bad waiting experience at the ER, despite the team s hard work.
Basically: if you don t have a life threatening condition don t waste your time waiting there, as the Hospital is set in a very deprived neighborhood, with mostly harsh / neglected cases around. Escorted my friend who needed prescription drugs urgently (for a neurologic disease, yet not a life threat) we were triaged to the bottom of the list, waited from 10pm till 4am to be seen. Triage Nurse: please clarify this may be the case, allow folks to decide to revisit in the morning
At the same time, the team is fulfilling a very important mission in an admirable way, with an emergency / crisis zone like hospital.
My daughter was in so much pain but the dr. Refuse to let her have the medicines and how much she needed to make her comfortable enough to at least sleep
The worse hopital,my son is in special needs because there's no anesthesiologist in matrnity room,so I'm not received atetion property and my son o most die befor born.
Beautifully designed and updated, kept superl clean. Services are great by the most part. Lots of pay to park lots, and street parking. Handicap accessible.
Horrible place.
went to ER here for complicated pregnancy issue. Couple of the nurses and a doctor were nice. Although slow as heck. Didn t tell me anything about my results, but kept ordering tests.
The ULtrasound technician in ER was the worst experience I had here. She was just absolutely heartless and awful . She got annoyed at me because I was bleeding and literally said will you just get back into bed told me I could not have phone in the room and demanded I put it away (I was texting family to let them know what was going on as I had been waiting several hours for ultrasound and my husband was waiting in the car worried. They wouldn t let him come in due to Covid). I would love to file a formal complaint against her but by the reviews most people here have had terrible experiences. I spend half the day in a dirty bed I was bleeding heavily. Do not go here, worst hospital I have been to.
Most pathetic service. My wife was hospitalized in rehab and they did not give proper attention. Medication delay for 3 plus hours reason given was that pharmacist did not deliver the meds.Unavailability of doctors from 9am to 5 pm until shift change and when enquired answer is that doc is in transit. inspite of having an MRI unit it was not functional. I had to take my wife in an ambulance to mri unit and back.
Overall physical therapists speech therapists and neuro psychologists are awesome but the medical directors are not responsive and too pathetic. Nurses had the audacity to tell us that they belong to different floor and will not be able to cater to my wife s needs. Overall they are a nonsense facility and they play with life s. My wife had to get readmitted to ICU and then additional 15 days of hospitalization and then a month long rehabilitation. Please do not get anyone admitted here.
Was immediately seen by the triage nurse for vitals. She was the most pleasent and helpful triage nurse I've ever met. She addressed each waiting patient she thought might need something as they waited. I was then called back to the first room and seen almost immediately by the doctor. This was the beat ER visit I've ever had. I'll be coming here now on for my emergencies.
Excellent patient services and care, as well as great services for family members with seating, places to rest, & snacks.
Took grandma here to their ER couple times, once even hopitalized. Very impressed with their facilities and professionalism. Top notch!
excellent medical staff. beautiful rooms in the new wing. efficient most of the staff are kind, considerate and mostly nice. one or two not so great but over all A+. cardiac center is best in the area!
Had a laughably incompetent, week-long scheduling experience with the pre-operative clinic for a benign breast tumor removal, including follow-up that re-cast the information. I was already stressed out for the procedure, but now I lack the confidence that any info I provide will be communicated effectively, or in the administrative side of this healthcare facility.
The scheduler just left me a VM expressing "confusion" on her end, while getting facts wrong (you didn't "keep calling me", i did get a call from a NP with no prior warning, you didn't call me back yesterday) so it's nice to know that they're super on top of it over there.
Just beyond words. The nicest staff the most informative and informed medical professionals
Nice people that works there .they care a lot
. love them all
Terrible business and treats there employees terribly
Three stars is bing very kind. DO NOT ENTER THIS PLACE ON WEEKENDS IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!
My mother got acute cardiomyopathy, and had a chest pain, dizzy, short of breath. She stayed in Unit 8711 Summit Medical Center (Sutter Health) for 3 days. My mother received an excellent care, all doctors, nurses, dietary manager are great. She recovered well and is very happy with her treatment and stay! Thank you very much!
Do not go to this hospital for anything, especially now during a pandemic. My daughter went there fotreatment related to her diabetes per our primary care doctor. They incorrectly placed her with those infected with the virus. They did not address the problem related to her diabetes and they gave her meds that her endocrinologist told her not to take. The nurses were not washing their hands and using contaminated gloves. General behavior of hospital staff was disorganized and unprofessional. I had to literally decontaminate my daughter to get her in car and when she got home. What a terrible hospital.
Worse experience of my life Me and my faience went their for our check up for our baby we got there at 5:00Pm Wednesday afternoon wasn't helped until 7:30pm when we finally got help they took us to do the ultra sound it took about 2hurs (Relatable), from there the nurse told us a doctor will be with us soon That didn't happen until an hour or so later now it's 9:45 and my fience is wondering what's the wait and they tell us they took her out the system NO DISCHARGE, THEY NEVER EXPLAINED ANYTHING, & My faience still had the IV in her arm. After that the nurse figure out that the Ultra sound nurse took us out the system (Unprofessional) they had realized their mistake so then we had to wait so they could make us a private room. When we got our room the doctor came in 20mins later talked to us for about 10mins mostly (Questions) which already been asked by like 4 nurses & left WE NEVER GOT ANY ANSWER TO ANY OF OUR QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS i heard and seen a lot of laughing and joking never will I got here again.
P.S it's my opinion but you can see for yourself
This review is for Susan in the Emergency Department. Thank you for taking the time to listen to a distraught, frightened and worried Mother. Thanks to you and your immediate action my missing child is in a safe place.
They are friendly is clean is new only that it is in a scary place
Slow as ever brought me to the back never once came to check in me .. I'm in so much pain like I'll never come here.
Horrible. Horrible. Horrible ER. Intake nurse determines blood work BEFORE doctor even sees you. Then a LONG WAIT. When doctor did show up she said my daughter who was doubled over in stomach pain and having cognitive issues was not an emergency case and sent us home without even reviewing the panel of blood they took!!! No diagnosis provided. Said go find a regular doctor which by the way was a two week wait. So $350 copay later a total waste of time. NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN. BROKEN SYSTEM. I have a lot of experience with ER visits. AND WE HAD HEALTH INSURANCE SO NO EXCUSE FOR APATHETIC ATRITUDES!!!
Is the best hospital I ever been in my whole entire life!!! Very clean and nice place and the staff here are so friendly and nice and they do there best to make you comfortable and happy. Thank you very much
4 and half hours already. Still don't know when I can see a doctor in the emergency. Really don't want to come to this hospital again.
Treated disgustingly here. Came in for uncontrollable twitching and face grimacing. Was treated horribly by the fire department and ambulance, but that s another issue all together. When I was brought to the hospital the staff AND security openly made jokes and rude comments while I could clearly hear. I was in a state unable to properly communicate or explain things thoroughly, and the staff seemed impatient.
Regardless of whatever my situation was to bring me into the hospital, NO one should be treated this way and I will not go here again nor recommend this hospital to anyone.
Everyone is helpful. Understand patients and their families are under stress.
The cafeteria can have a better food, have a friendlier cashier, and keep the place cleaner. My experience was near their closing.
3 stars because being sick in any hospital sucks! Staff was compassionate and attentive. View from tower rooms is 5 stars however.
My husband was brought in from work after suffering fainting at work. He told them he's been in pain for over 4 days and non-stop vomiting. Can't eat or sleep due to pain. They sent him home and did absolutely nothing. The next day we go to Stanford because he was getting worse. Here we are admitted because he has pancreatitis and might need surgery to remove part of it. You guys are horrible and did absolutely nothing to figure out why he was suffering. Only worried about the money coming in apparently.
had another ER experience elsewhere shortly after visiting Alta Bates.
The comparison of experiences under the circumstances made me appreciate the services delivered by the Alta Bates ER staff. Dealing with a stressful health situation is challenging at best and I m grateful for the genuine attention and care provided.
@Damion I m going to be begrudging all future RNs for not being charming enough #rockstar
I am considering, grabbing medical services for my daughter who has a special condition but I don't know where to go or what steps to follow I urgently need my daughter to be treated
