A nice place to bring the family. There's a "public" and a "private" parts to the ground. Entrance to the private part requires a entrance fee. This review is for the for the private part of the gardens.

The main waterfall area forms the central part of the gardens. Arranged as a terraced waterfall and looks magnificent as the water flows down and forming a grand cascade down the terraces. Visiting in October there's not many flowers, although it looked the gardens was mostly made up of trees, bushes and hedges. Hidden amongst the bushes are water fountain made of I think stainless sculptures of different abstract form that allow the the water to flow in different ways or just cascade.

So the reason for my average rating is what I thought was poor ticket management. Our group bought the combined castle and gardens ticket. What we didn't notice was that the printed ticket only says entrance for the castle. After visiting the castle, my parents wanted just sit and rest in the gardens. An hour later the rest of the group finished at the castle and decided to go to the gardens for lunch to find my parents standing outside the gardens because they were not allowed in due to the ticket only mentioning the castle. Only after showing the attendant the online ticket that showed we'd purchased entrance to the gardens too were we allowed in. If the we'd purchased entrance to both castle and gardens, then surely the ticket should show both and my parent would not have had to stand in the cold for an hour.

Being in the garden is so up lifting. The array of flowers and the fountains are beautiful. I found the poison garden very interesting and informative. Well worth the admission price.

Beautiful place and highly recommend it to EVERYONE. Some parts are the garden are, however, VERY narrow and will be difficult for wheel chair users, which is why it's only 4/5 stars.

Such a nice gardens. Very well kept. You can walk there for hours and once tired you can have something to eat and drink in the coffee shop. The only thing I didn t enjoyed much was the poison garden. The gentleman showing us around was very nice and knowledgeable, but there wasn t much to see.
Very nice gardens that are really worth seeing. You can spend hours here before you go around everything. The restaurant in which you can be sure is large enough and the food is good.

Really well maintained gardens, with lots of unusual water features. Definitely take the time to visit the poison garden (entry only in tour groups, but included in garden entry price) - staff are really knowledgeable about all sorts of interesting plants.

Fabulous gardens with something for everyone, immaculately managed and maintained. Kids of all ages will love the novelty and science behind the sculpted water features and the granduer of the fountains in the cascade. Older children and adults will be fascinated and a little scared by the secure section that holds only poisonous plants. Just sit on the lawn and take in the splendour or walk through the beautifully manicured gardens, taking time to visit the bamboo maze/glade and the tranquil walled garden at the top. Simply beautiful!

What a gorgeous place. Sunshine helped but we easily spent nearly a whole day. Even though allegedly I am grown up, I adored the giant and his possessions scattered around the place. So many places to sit and wonder. Really want to go back in different seasons. My personal favourite was the poison garden.

Brilliant day with the other half, my dad and my niece and nephews. Lovely day out plenty to see and do as a couple and as a family, fun for all the family. Next time I'll take a change of clothes so I can play with the water sculptures more!

Superb mix of adventure and classic gardening linked with ultra modern landscaping with water fountains. Something for everyone. Don t overlook the zig zagging cherry tree walk, the poison garden and the terrific water features that the kids will love. Hide in the bamboo maze or merely sit and enjoy a coffee and watch smiling faces enjoying this terrific location. The walled garden in the summer is tremendous. Out of season not quite so, but still a tranquil place to sit and relax. Staff are extremely helpful and on hand to answer your questions
