The place is very popular and it was busy,
but the girls working were pleasant, friendly and helpful. Me and my wife both commented that they were working very hard to help everyone as quickly as they could.
Worth checking out for sure! Try the Vancouver cheesecake with raspberry sauce.

I ve been to the new location twice now and I love it! I love the open concept and how much more seating there is. They now even have a display case just for keto and gluten free options! The cheesecake is delicious as always

I love coming here! The selection is hit or miss sometimes. Depending who s working and stocking it can be slim pickings, but it always tastes great!

The girl behind the food counter essentially refused to even talk to us or answer our questions because that "wasn't her job". The prices have also gone up substantially over the last 10 years. All the reasons I used to go here are gone now.

Always a great visit, delicious desserts, great coffees. A large is like a medium at Starbucks so keep that in mind. Their cinnamon dolce latte was amazing today! Highly recommend!

If you're looking for amazing coffee, decadent desserts, or an awesome deli lunch, this is the place to be. They have a nice lunch combo option, and the sizes of the cakes are massive. I personally love their cheesecake fruit cups if you're not looking for super heavy dessert, and their cheesecakes are wow worthy.

The Tiramasu was the best choice of the night for we also had the Chocolate Cocunut cheese cake which was not bad,but the berry cheesecake tasted older & dry,which is surprising considering how busy the place & the price you pay$$.

Its becoming well known that After thoughts is one of the best places in Clearbrook to indulge a little into elegant sweetness and a coffee. Take your special someone there to build a memory. Also put your smartphone away and talk like humans used to.

I have been going to Afterthoughts for several years, It's my go to place for dessert and coffee. The new location is beautiful, the seats are comfortable, and the desserts are decadent as always!

Pretty great food and drink selection. Also friendly service. Only bad part was that I saw my ex here last time I went.

Went for the first time today and was not disappointed. Perfect portions, great selections nice price and just plain awesome. Will highly recommend and will definitely return.

The cakes are amazing! The Vancouver cheesecake is the best. But in recent visits, especially since the move to new location the staff have become very rude. I have tried to just chalk it up to a bad day, but it's been similar interactions over and over again. It makes me really sad to write this review, I am an advocate for local business. . I hope they see this review and perhaps be nicer and pleasant to their customer. I would love to change my star rating.

Love that they offer keto options too. So many delicious options. Huge pieces of pie.

Excellent drinks and pastries. Lovely staff. Downside is that because it's practically the only coffee house open in the evenings the line ups are stupidly long. They need more staff and more efficient work stations to get the drinks out faster. Well worth a visit.

My family and I have ordered cakes from Afterthoughts numerous times. The cakes are always so beautifully presented and taste so delicious. Definitely our only place to order cakes from!

I agree completely with the comments posted by Victor Har below and avoid this place for the same reason. Appauling behaviour from the staff who are empowered by management.

The shop was clean and inviting. I didn't find what I wanted but it was very last minute.

A true-to-form Abbotsford classic. The Vancouver cheesecake with raspberry drizzle will leave your taste buds feeling like they are singing a concerto while bungy jumping and giving a panda a high five.

Tried purchasing flavored cheesecake tarts for a staff birthday on the phone and was surprised when I was told that I was to pick my flavors when I pick them up. When I got there they weren't what I was hoping for and the lady at the counter couldn't wait to get rid of me when I mentioned that I had been expecting something different as we have had amazing flavored cheesecake tarts delivered to our office before and I was not expecting to have to put a puree on them myself and only 6 options for flavors. I will know next time what to ask for. Nevertheless, the plain tarts are delicious but I expected better customer service over the phone and a nicer attitude upon pick up

Had a lovely GNO, got a yummy Bombay fog (ie chai latte), but not the greatest customer service. Would definitely appreciate more smiles. And sure we took a few minutes to decide, but there was nobody behind us, so I'd also appreciate not feeling so rushed to order.

Absolutely LOVE the new location ... a great space, less cluttered, and a clean, open feel. My wife & I have always known that the food is first rate, and now they have a facility to match. I have a feeling that this will be our new go-to on weekends for sure.

This new location is HUGE!!! Same amazing cakes and drinks as before, but with so much more space to enjoy it, definately will be back!

Friendly attention at the counter. Low level background music so one can converse quietly. Unpretentious decor. Good food and coffee.

No tap whatsoever!!! They should have a sign in front stating this instead of wasting your time to go all the way through the line just to have the cashier glare at you when you say that you didn t know. Terrible first impression: rude servers and a complete lack of information on their part.

I came with my family to celebrate my aunt's birthday party and the customer service was great. The owner was nice and cordial. She makes alot of the food herself which shows how hardworking she is even today. I have always loved the cheesecakes from here as they are out of the world. The coffee is not super amazing but it is good.
I always get the cheesecakes from here for my mom's birthday every year. It has become a tradition in my house and I will continue to do so every year.

Amazing keto cheesecake! Too many options! Friendly service, helpful. Great protocols in place for safe distancing, hand cleaning, and mask wearing. Consistently amazing desserts.

This is a mixed review because my cheesecake was ok not excellent for the price but, in the other hand my wife absolutely loved their slice of cake...

It was just fantastic place l will return soon l hope.

Served me a Pork Samosa roll, when I asked for Veggie Samosa. When I demanded for refund they replied that they couldn't refund it because I ate it. How would I know this is not vegetarian if I will not eat it Duh! They replied "Sorry our baker baked with sausage and labelled it wrong, so yes it has chicken in it". I am sorry you just served me a sausage roll and now quoting it has chicken in it, and trying to cover it up with stating that it has only chicken it it, no meat. Well according to me and science Chicken is also meat, and clearly it is not vegetarian. My friend ate pork too and she is a muslim, guess what is coming your way, any guesses?
When I demanded to speak to the manager, they were not ready to share her number, and reluctantly Manager is calling me during my work hours to make an excuse. I specifically asked to call me after 5 PM, they called me right at 2.30 pm.
I thought this is a nice place, but looks like it is all pretty until you run into a problem. You can not be rude and unfriendly and expect people to come at your business to enjoy their meal. I am dissapointed

Aside from being a little busy, and the lady serving us being a little short, the food was amazing , and the Batista's had an awesome sense of humour. They were courteous, and I enjoyed their service. The drinks were awesome, I had a mocha, wife had an apple cider. I had pumpkin pie, wife had apple peach. Worth every penny, despite being very expensive.

I have never had a bad experience here. The Vancouver cheese cake base is route to go because it is non baked and tends to be more moist.

Love the selection of unique desserts, service was standard, but what I ordered was a little stale. I'll be back to try once more.

For the last few years we have been regular customers at your South Fraserway location and have taken friends there. We looked forward to visiting your new location, but today were very disappointed. The coffee was lukewarm, and the cup overfilled which made it difficult to take to the table. However the Herb and cheese scone which cost $2.95 was not edible and we returned it to staff. In addition the person serving and collecting payment simply said there was nothing she could do, and they were still working out the kinks. A $10 disappointment, but a sad surprise. We hope it soon returns to the customer oriented high quality we had come to expect.

A great little spot for a coffee and a bite. It's fairly quiet and the staff are extremely friendly. I highly recommend Afterthoughts over the "big" name coffee shops. Keep up the good work!

The Vancouver cheese cake with the raspberry sauce .........AMAZING.......the best I've ever eaten. This cheese cake is so creamy and delicious I licked my plate clean. Yum Yum!!

Great coffee and atmosphere. Quiet place to talk over coffee with competing with background din. Delicious, but overpriced desserts. A 7$ slice of pie should contain fresh apples. Inefficient cash register line. Too many dirty tables. Extremely slow-moving staff. Staff professionalism varies from friendly to arrogant and condescending. There are 2 young ladies who would be quickly unemployed if they worked for me.

Zero stars and wonder why place is getting less and less popular...NOT RECOMMENDED.
The owner and throat scar are both very judgmental with sour attitudes. Says open till 11pm but anything to do with the espresso machine is before 10:30pm, they are so lazy and can't mess the unit up with four workers to clean it up? If you only want to sell dessert from a refrigerator then suggest you opening a DQ

Not like it was not a great selection anymore. It is sad.

*Edit* since my previous review ive had nothing but positive experiences so I am changing my rating but still leaving my previous experience.

My girlfriend and I went just after 9pm on 1/28/18. We first had to wait about ten minutes to order which usually I wouldn't consider much but not when they have 3 employees and only one customer at the til. I ignored the wait time and ordered our cheesecake which my girlfriend requested a strawberry sauce. so we paid for our order and went home and noticed that we got raspberry sauce only after pouring it onto her cheesecake she greatly dislikes raspberry sauce so rather annoyed we headed back to replace our order and hopefully have some compensation for the inconvenience even something as small as a percentage off our next order. But nothing was offered so in the end we had a long wait time and in the end we still had to come back and redo our order to get it right. I imagine this isn't a regular occurrence but I would expect higher level of customer service from a business with such high ratings.

Kind staff. Lots of baked deliciousness. Known for their cheesecakes. Not cheap, but good for a treat.

I ve been going to Afterthoughts for years, I ve never been disappointed. Amazing food, lovely staff and that cheesecake! Overall awesome place! Love the new location! It looks gorgeous! Congrats to the Afterthoughts team!

Afterthoughts of going to this place:

I thought that the new Afterthoughts was going to be different than the one from the older location. Although the setting's changed the atmosphere remains the same. The process of choosing a dessert/drink and then paying for it is ridiculous. Staff doesn't communicate with one another and the cashier is often confused as to what was ordered. On top of that, staff is really rude when talking to customers. I'm not the first to say this, and you can go through all of the reviews and see the common trend. No recommendations or communication, hi's/hello's. It's just frustrated looks and trying to get you out of the line. And that's true even when there's two people in the line.

Food/Drink:

The dessert options are not worth the price point. You can literally go down the road to Superstore and buy a cheescake for half of the price and with better options. Don't get me wrong, if you like to pay for overpriced deserts lacking in flavour to the point that you have to purchase whip cream on the side to mask the sameness of their deserts, then boy this place is for you. Drinks are kind of meh. Again, it's overpriced for what you get. Purchased a regular hot chocolate and marble hot chocolate. Tasted like milk with super sweet syrup dropped in it. Tea's and coffee's are the same deal. Bland, and not worth the price point.

Decor and Service:

I don't mind this. The new location has this going for it. Open tables to student's and people that like to study, and tables and booths for those in groups. Washoom's are maintained. So good job Afterthoughts, you have that going for you. But then you fail at...... SERVICE. I don't have much more to say other than what I wrote above. My only other gripe is that when you go to pay, they do not have the option to pay via tap. Now that might sound a bit silly. But it really isn't. Some customers do not carry cash and card all the time. I usually pay via Google Tap or even tap via a credit card. Sure, I don't expect them to have NFC payments from phones ready to go, but no tap on cards is a bit inconvenient. Nitpicking, but I'm not the first to have this issue and not the last.

Conclusion:

I've been to this place a few times. The old location and the new. I've tried different food and drink items. And suffice to say, they're really, really not good. I can't justify coming to a place like Afterthoughts only to receive the worst service I have received from a simple bakery/drink shop in Abbotsford. I can't justify paying a lot for below average desserts and drinks. There are more options in Abbotsford, and I'm ok with going to them as Afterthoughts has missed the mark every time I have visited.

The cake was very good! The frosting was really tasty, but the options were limited. We came towards the end of the day so maybe the other kinds were already sold, but there was only 3 cake flavours, and nothing standard like chocolate or vanilla. It was super tasty though and the seating area is really nice! Tons of room even with the restrictions very nice spot for a desert date night. I wish there were more allergen friendly options as well, it s mostly cheesecakes

I've been going here with my partner/now wife for years and years now.
The cakes have always been delicious and they always have great variety.
The new location is great as well,both size and aesthetic!

Excellent customer service, the booth seats are comfortable and the cheese cakes are fresh, delicious and have new flavours every visit.

New location is great and not as cramped as before.

Friendly service, and the cake selections is pretty good. The carrot cake was huge and tasty, and the Vancouver Cheese cake is very consistent and good too. My key issue is the cost. 3 slices of cake cost me $25, which is crazy! Options in Abby are pretty limited in the late evening though, so I don t blame them for taking advantage. Hope they update their seating in their new location because the sofas really need to be replaced as well.

Always amazing here! Amazing desserts, cute atmosphere, and I love the mom & pop feel to it - way cozier than the starbucks across the lot. Not sure why there are so many negative comments about customer service - I am always treated so well when I am there. I hear customers being rude to the staff, and I think people forget that you receive whatever vibes you're putting out, so if you are negative others may respond in a similar fashion. Just remember your pleases and thank yous! Also, I always tip because the girls working there are great conversationalists and always make me feel like more than a customer! If you've ever been there on a busy night, you see how hard they work. Support your local businesses!

Great place has very good service the staff is so friendly and they has delicious desserts

Really tasty deserts and their white mochas are delicious. Desert treats there are super heavy and large portions so best if you bring somebody to share them with or get them to go to finish at a later time.

The cakes are good, however over the years their portion sizes have decreased tremendously. The staff in their new location are always busy talking to one another and are very disorganized and just slow. It's not worth $8 a cake for such small portions. They need to train the staff better, keep labels on their cakes so customers aren't forced to ask what type of cakes they have, to focus on customer service, and maybe help them out by sticking markers where a cake slice should be as their cakes are sliced very thin.

So delicious .. all their food is homemade and great

Now I know where to go for excellent coffee and baked goods (and service) when I'm in town. Forget about the mainstream brands, come here! Also, very good selection of coffee and baked goods.
