A mixture of shockingly ridiculously bad and impressively good advice - people who are very inexperienced and highly experienced in this area.
My bestfriend has left them multiple messages and hasnt heard anything. Nice to know that Dane County CARES doesnt care at all
I stopped by the office Friday night to see if they would be open after Thanksgiving. I seen a sign and was told they were closed. As I was walking away I see 2 men come out the back door with blankets wrapped around them? Now I am confused does this place also house the homeless? They told me that this place is closed but yet you come out back door with a blanket around you. I guess I will find out Monday.. someone has some explaining to do
When I was in college they were wonderful! A great resource! We are lucky to have this resource.
It's fastest to walk-in. If you call, it may be a while before they can get back to you. Staff are polite, understanding, knowledgeable.
ESA questions and laws addressed. Landlords, management do not know laws and try to push their own rules not necessarily needed.
Very helpful & daily listings of available places is great.
Online application forms are difficult to use and instable (can suddenly go blank when they give you links to follow away from the page). Even within Dane Co., they do not provide an email access. That means they can't receive addendum info they request, if they have a question about an online application. I am hoping they will email me then, since they requested my own email address. Why not use an email address?
I cannot express my gratitude with words. Sarah analyzed my problem in detail, offered feasible solutions and printed out some laws and statutes. This is not just help, this is support! As a foreigner, I feel very warm to get support from such a beneficial organization. Thank you!
Extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Walked in without an appointment, waited approximately 10 minutes, and then was seen. They were succinct in their explanation of what I should do and gave me a clear action plan.
Hardworking, knowledgeable staff who can assist you no matter what your housing situation is. I highly recommend calling or stopping in if you have questions about signing a new lease, possible violations of landlord-tenant law, or if you want to know what the law says about a clause in your lease agreement.
They dont help anybody unless you live in Madison or Dane Co. the rest of Wisconsin, like usuall, doesnt matter accept our tax money! SAD.....
I was told to Stay Out of Madison because I am "Low Income!" The Tenant Resource Center only caters to UW-Madison students ... doesn't know anything about "real world" renting!!!! In fact, I give it less than a star!!! Don't contact this place if you want "real world" help, about "real world rental concerns related to your landlord grumbles and evictions!!! This place is USELESS!!!
Excellent organization for information and assistance regarding housing rights. Rental, legal, etc. Contributing to social justice, conflict resolution, economic equality.
I have been worried sick about my rental situation. I am being bullied by my rental company and Maggie explained my rights, and the duties of the rental company to work with me on a solution. I didn't know anything about what the rental company's legal responsibilities were, and I doubt they would have been forthcoming with that information either. Maggie talked me through, step by step, how to deal with this problem, and how to protect myself from being taken advantage of. Thank you Tenant Resource Center.
