It's very unique, almost to the point of being uncomfortable. Some people really love it, I did not truly enjoy it as others seemed to. The best part was the moving wood pieces in the third building. Staff was friendly and quirky. I wouldn't pay more than $10, luckily I'm a student so I get the discount. There is street parking at the meter, but is easily accessible by foot or bus from the harbor.

An amazing museum that celebrates untrained artists from across the globe. From a beautiful bronze Icarus with stained glass wings to messages written in toast crusts, all types of expression and vision are put on display. Five stars simply aren't enough.

Great exhibits if you're into quirky colorful things. Not sure if this exhibit is still in but a must see was the King's Mouth exhibit. If you don't want to spend money for admission the gift shop is free to access and pretty cool.

Awesome artsy gift shop. Cool little trinkets. So much to look at. Want to go to a museum that will keep kids occupied, this is it. Beautiful art pieces. Outside there is a little wooden tree house for kids to climb and run around in.

How did I not know about this place? This collection of outsider/folk art is a marvel of unusual art pieces/installations in traditional and nontraditional media. The stories of how these artists came to their work and used it for healing and survival are heartrending. The outdoor sculptures are original and exciting. The museum store is part magic shop, part import source, part funky book store, and ALL fun. This is a true American treasure. How did I not know about this place? The visionary art museum was great! The art was intriguing and fun, and the museum was totally welcoming of children. It cost me ten dollars for me to get in as a student in a group and it was totally worth it. It's the kind of place I want to go back to visit soon.

Love this place. The exhibits are great and they have the best events both for members and the general public. Movies on the hill, kinetic sculptures, you name it. Check them out if you re in Baltimore visiting or are a local and just haven t been!

Love this museum!
Always eye catching.
Every level has eye popping art.
Clean cool bathroom.
There s a cafe upstairs, very beautiful! (Never eaten there)
Right by federal hill.
If you re a Bank of America card holder, you can get in free every 1st weekend of the month!!!!!! But you have to mention it in order to get the deal! They won t mention it for you!

A joyful land of boundary-pushing experimental and modern pop art. Exhibits rotate so it changes from time to time. It is an experience like no other. Also the gift shop is ridiculously cheap snd supports local artists! Brought my two kids and they could have stayed all day. My 15 year old niece was so overwhelmed she cried. Go.

Perfect way to spend a rainy day with my wife. Neither of us are really big into the art scene or anything but it was great to read about the artists and a lot of the pieces were very cool.

We were surprised at how much we really enjoyed this Art Museum! The displayed pieces were varied and intriguing. They have something for art lovers of all ages. My only disappointment was that we were not able to participate in the MLK activities for kids they hosted that day. The advertisement said the MLK festivities were until 6pm, but when we arrived at about 4:40, we were told the kids crafts and activities were over. Another disappointment was the surprise evacuation due the the fire alarm going off. Still don't know if there was an actual fire or if it was a false alarm...we were just asked to exit the building...a team of firefighters did arrive, but didn't seem to be a fire. The museum was scheduled to close in 30 minutes, so we just left. However, we enjoyed ourselves so much, we are planning our 2nd visit in the summer.

Eclectic at museum with pieces by self taught artists and those with mental illnesses. The stories behind the exhibits are as compelling as the art. The store is filled with novelty and kitsch, worth multiple laughs. The building itself is a marvel, Alex Castro (the designer/architect) created a masterpiece.

Would not recommend for those who prefer older or traditional art, but I would highly recommend this if you're into modern ways of expression. I'm fairly traditional and didn't much enjoy it myself, but my sister, an art student, found it to be very interesting and entertaining.

Can t wait to come back! Fun to just walk around the grounds and check out the art outside if you don t have time to go in. Or just check out the gift shop!!!! You could spend hours browsing the trinkets in here .... they have great special events going on here throughout the year like the Woodstock celebration with music and the Van that we recently went to!

Amazing, full of colorful interesting creations by extremely talented artists. This place is packed with all different kinds of modern and unique art like no other. You could spend hours reading about each piece or just take in the beauty. My favorite part was the large pieces like the sculpture of Divine.

We were there for Cosmic Cocktails. A nice venue. Plenty of room for dancing upstairs. The event itself was OK, not at well run as in the past - food vendors ran out at 8pm. But a cool site for a big event.
