Ordered a 50mm f/1.4 lens from Adorama last week, ...

Ordered a 50mm f/1.4 lens from Adorama last week, was subsequently notified it was shipped as normal, and then notified it was delivered to my address on the promised date yesterday, but nothing was actually delivered, i.e., there was no box. And we were home all day stepping in and out and about the residence. Sent an email to Adorama and called Adorama Customer Service this morning advising them of this non-delivery, but am not getting the robust level of service response that I expected - they said they are referring this to their Claims Department and would contact me later in the day. I'm kind of disappointed.

UPDATE: After what seemed to be a slow start by Adorama's Claims Department, they did judiciously investigate and it turned out that the package had been mis-delivered by UPS to another address in the neighborhood. After Adorama assured me they would initiate a claim with UPS and remedy the situation, the resident of the incorrect address kindly brought me the package 2 days after its mis-delivery. Strangely, the package had two shipping labels, one with the correct address at top, and the other with the wrong address at bottom. No idea how the wrong label got on the box.

The item is perfect, and fully functional, exactly what I ordered, and I am happy and satisfied. I have revised my score to a "5". I would recommend this vendor. I do wonder if Adorama and other online vendors should re-evaluate their use of UPS as their shipper, however.

The camera department has been compressed in size to open up areas for more digital goods, like tablets, computers and wide-screen TVs. But the variety of cameras, lenses, printers, film, lighting equipment and more is still available for the amateur to professional photographer, and still backed by solid service by people who've been in the industry forever. Their used camera department is one of the best in the city, noted for accuracy of condition, fair prices and good selection.

Don't sell used audio gear here. The salesman are camera professionals and they have no idea what they are doing in regards to audio.They will waste your time and low ball you worse than any other store I have ever sold to. You might as well go to cash converters. I waited 2 hours and finally had some random stranger sneakily rummage through my gear without announcing himself as an employee or asking my permission to go through my gear. The gear was carefully placed by me in my pelican cases and the salesman improperly wrapped my lavaliere wires up and sloppily shoved them back in. It was completely inappropriate and disrespectful. I'm sure they are good for video stuff, but they are terrible for audio. Save yourself the trip and sell your stuff on ebay or social media.

Brought in a lens for a trade-in that I wasn't using much after purchasing it new elsewhere about 6 months beforehand. The camera guy looked at it, and claimed the lens was full of haze and fungus. I looked at it, with their flashlight, and the lens appeared in decent condition to me but they were ADAMANT that my lens was stored in a rainforest. So they only offered $20 for that trade in of a lens that cost me $179. A week later, I looked up the Adorama Ebay, my lens is for sale in E+ condition, no fungus, near perfect. I know it's mine, because I keep track of serial numbers and it's clearly visible in the ebay pictures.

A week after I wrote this review, their customer service contacted me (after tracking/stalking me through linkedin) to offer me an additional $10 if i'd change this review. Incredible.

Anyway, I ended up working at Adorama for a few months, and that's pretty much par for the course, it's breathtaking how little they understand cameras for such a big company. Used lenses so completely hazed over as to be opaque were assigned perfect scores and sold for top dollar value, equipment in great shape was given the lowest grade possible by the trade-in desk, presumably to screw customers like myself in the aforementioned story.

they had a product on the web site that i had purchased 3 months later they canceled my order i called in and they said we don't have that item any more. but its still on your website oh ok order it again 2 moths later they cancel it again. i called oh sorry we don't have that item. ok for my trouble can you offer me the next in line for the same price ? sure we can help but the item on the web site clearly shows the boom with a stand. I called verify and they said to me oh we made a mistake we cant offer you that its our fault. we can give you $25 credit really worst customer service ever no one calls you back or sends emails

If you ever need to order something from this place, ABSOLUTELY NEVER order through their store on Google Express or you will be looking at 5 days order processing and 1 week of pre-shipment. So much for the term express, if they can't even do that then don't partner up with Google. I can't even cancel my super delayed order until it has delivered. Makes me think they can't keep their promise of 2-3 days delivery on their main site.

Purchased a webcam from this site via Walmart.com for use in my home office specifically because it was advertised as being in stock. 5 days later I received a notification that the camera was back ordered and would be shipped soon. 3 months later I have not received my camera but I have received 68 spam sales emails since my purchase. Very disappointing.

Costumer service is outstanding . I had a issue with my new camera and after contacting the costumer service , I received a Email where all the instructions where given .
Since in the market are coming new equipments , Adorama pays Top Dollars on the use equipments and for this I have my own experience while the other competitors where evaluating 20% less of the price Adorama wanted to by my used equipment

HORRID customer service with incompetent/misinform...

HORRID customer service with incompetent/misinformed employees and management. All of whom do not know their own policies and do nothing to help you.

I purchased an Asus laptop and Nexus tablet bundle last year for $1,799.99 the only warranty available was through a 3rd party company, MACK.

Both items were suppose to be covered by the warranty because
#1 I was charged the warranty price on the full bundle cost.
#2 On the Amazon and Adorama site there was NO option to purchase two warranties for each item.
#3 I purchased directly through their sales person who reassured that the single warranty would cover both items because the bundle was considered a single purchase. I purchased through customer service because I was not sure if the warranty would in fact cover both items - even though it was sold as such online.

I called Mack recently to set up a repair for my tablet and the Manager(ext 114) told me that the warranty only covered one item and that I should have purchased two warranties to cover both laptop and tablet. I have since been dealing with Adorama for over two weeks, calling them repeatedly to find an answer. They're obviously not based in the US sand I wind up talking to different people each time I call customer service, causing me to waste my time repeating the issue time and time again. The first three time I called I was asked if I spoke to MACK about the situation, then followed by "they should accept this warranty because it is a bundle". After promising several times to contact me back, the customer service team never did and I was forced to followup with them every time, including the most recent time.

Today I finally got in touch with Adorama's customer service supervisor and was told that there was no record of anyone ever telling me that the warranty would cover both products. To that I ask:
#1 Why was I charged on the full purchase price of the bundle? Shouldn't you have separated the cost of the laptop and tablet first?
#2 Why has it taken so long for your "findings"? This investigation was a farce, policy is policy, this should not have taken 2 weeks. No one in this company seems to know about their products or services including management and it's beyond ridiculous.

Manager got back to me regarding #1 and the answer which was newly fabricated after 3 weeks of exchanges.

"Hi Elaine,

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

The order for the warranty was placed accordingly by our salesman as that is the recommneded warranty for the computer only and not for the free piece (tablet) that came with it. Information for what item is covered was never ask therefore it was not discussed. The price of the warranty is the current selling price at that time which will cover one item only.

Once again, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and confusion."

Thank you for being polite but utterly useless. You and your entire staff have done exactly the same thing every time I have contacted you, going in circles and giving me the run around.

I will NEVER do business with the company again. It's a headache and full of s*** I suggest everyone stay away too but if you DO decide to business with them make sure that you have EVERYTHING in writing and PRAY that you don't have any complications because they will not do anything for you except raise your blood pressure. Anyone interested in the full email exchange between me and Adorama can send me a message. I'll forward the entire thing over.

The WORST customer service in existence...easily.

It started with an inquiry on their site asking for advice on which printing option they thought would be best for a set of images on metal plates. I even provided a sample image. Days go by and so I just order one image printed two different ways to see for myself. After that order was placed (with clear instructions to not include the free mounting on the back) and the MONEY cleared, THEN...I get the reply. Really.

Nowhere on the site was there any mention of a jewish holiday so my 2 biz days turn-around became a week. After being told that and going back to the site, there of course was a brand new gigantic banner announcing said holiday and turn-around extensions. The images arrive well-printed without the mounts, as asked, I pick the preferred technique and order 11 more images leaving the same exact note in the field to NOT apply the mounts INCLUDING referencing the previous order# AND explaining that my project requires flat backs.

These images arrive...WITH MOUNTS (totally unremovable) and with one image being so grossly misprinted that a monkey...a dumb monkey...could look at it and tell, "This ain't right"...but no....boxed up and shipped anyway. After a few hours of emailing and waiting, Customer Service acknowledges missing the no mounts note and agrees to reprint the entire order BUT...I have to go down to the store with the original images (giant box, btw) to switch out for the new images!?! Really?!

I get an email at 12:45pm saying that my order has arrived and so I plan to head down first thing the very next morning because, I have a job and work to do and dropping what I'm doing and heading straight down is not an option and nowhere in said email is a note that says "by the way, we're closing in 2 hours for 10 f#@ing days". There I am, next morning at 10am, after shlepping a gigantic box of misprints through MTA, standing in front of a closed store with no signs on it anywhere. Look up their website, see a giant banner says we're closed for 10 days. Yes, really.

A guy approaches as I'm standing there reading the info and asks, "are they closed"? Very angrily, I said "apparently for 10 days for a jewish holiday that I guess we should all know about". He said, "I'm Jewish, There's no Holiday!?" So, I show him the website and he says, "Sukkot!?!? That's a third-tier holiday!? Nobody closes for Sukkot, unless you're in Israel and don't really have a choice!?". With that, I call two Jewish friends who both own multi-million dollar businesses and they had the same reaction. I call my Art Director of the MAJOR record label I'm contracted for, also Jewish,...well, I'm not gonna type what he said.

So, at NO POINT...was this company even remotely interested in doing the right thing. THEY screwed the order the first time, THEY knew they were about to be closed and so THEY should have sucked up the loss of the misprints (what were they planning on doing with them anyway?!), and they SHOULD have mailed the reprints to my address so that I wouldn't be totally screwed with this project and its deadline which, btw, was CLEARLY explained in the emails back and forth from the very beginning.

I will never, for any reason, use this company again and thankfully, the printing services I need can be found elsewhere over multiple locations in NYC alone.

I purchased a flashpoint explor 600 strobe from adorama and the handle got stripped took it back and they exchanged it for a new unit no questions ask. You can't get better service like that. I buy all of my photography equipment there and will continue to buy from adorama. Adorama for life.

I accidentally ordered two of this SSD instead of one but that was my fault. I immediately realize so I email customer service asking for them to change my order, but what the website neglected to tell me, was that they were on holiday for the next three days. Fair enough.I figure they ll correct it when they get back but the responder says it s already been shipped so I ll just have to ship it back when it arrives but it looks like it s just barely been shipped by the end of today. I m not saying the situation is absolutely unbearable, but it would have saved me a boat load of trouble if I just ordered through amazon. I would have already corrected my order and received it like 3 days ago, possibly even cheaper.

I placed an order on April 4 for over $2000. The website said they were off for the week in observance of Passover. The following day April 5, I called to cancel the order because I didn't want to wait until the following Monday for them to ship and then several more days for the shipment to arrive. I called customer service. I gave the representative my order number and he confirmed my order and said it would be shipped out on Monday April 9, following the holiday week. Then he asked what he could do for me. I explained I wished to cancel my order. He said he would "submit a request to cancel the order". I asked what that meant and he said he couldn't cancel the order himself, but he could submit a request that it be cancelled and I would be notified by e-mail as to the final outcome. I asked why it couldn't be cancelled, and he said it it had been released to be shipped. I reminded him that he already stated that it would not be shipped until after the holiday week on April 9 which was still 5 days away. He said all he could do was process the request to cancel. I received an e-mail a few hours later that said the order could not be cancelled , but would be sent out on Monday April 9 (which was still 4 days away). It also stated I could return it in accordance with their return policy. My issue is the item is obviously still with Adorama and won't go to the shipper for several more days but they are going to ship it to me anyway and then I am going to return it to them unopened and I will have to pay the shipping charges for both. This feels like I am being punished for my cancellation by having to pay shipping charges in both directions. I am very unsatisfied with this transaction.
***Update to original posting. (April 9) I wrote an e-mail to Adorama requesting a cancellation. They responded that my order would be intercepted by UPS and returned to Adorama and a refund would follow. This is good news and is what I expected to happen. Thank you Adorama for coming through with the customer service you proudly advertise on your website. I am changing my rating to 5 stars.

Even though the tablet had performance issues once it arrived, I kept it in hopes that windows update would resolve them and because the damaged stylus still worked. When I contacted customer service I was a few days past the 30 day period but they told me they would still honor the refund. Once they received the tablet I was told it was too damaged to refund because there is a slight mark on the keyboard and some abrasions from where I tried to clean off some extra super glue from the stylus. Since it cannot be 'resold' with the cosmetic damage (I guess they are okay with reselling items that have performance issues) Helen told me I could either keep the tablet or only receive a 50% refund.

I have tried several times to rectify this with customer service Helen Oster but she maintains I sent the tablet back "very badly scratched, horribly marked and chipped. In addition, the stylus appears to have been chewed on by a dog - although you stated the damage was caused because you glued it." I do not have a dog.

Once I received the tablet back, I cleaned the lid with a microfiber cloth and the marks on it disappeared.

Adorama seems very small but you get everything you need for your profession and they have great deals - oftentimes better than all the other photo stores - you just have to watch out for it. When you are a returning costumer they remember you and that is a really nice feeling. Great Service, awesome price. If you need any special advice: Ask for Mike Kobal (very friendly and helpful)! I have never had a bad experience or any issues with returning some equipment at Adorama so far - all the stuff is very helpful!

I ordered a gaming desktop (MSI Trident X Plus) with a core i9 processor. However, when I received the item it was actually a core i7. When I contacted customer service, they simply stated that I had in fact ordered a PC with an i7 processor. No I didn't. The listing specifically stated i9. I feel duped, and won't be using this company going forward. I had heard nothing but good things about Adorama, and boy am I disappointed.

Terrible customer service, and if you do purchase anything they'll sell your information. A large portion of my spam is thanks to Adorama -- thanks, guys! They'll even share it with their own affiliated companies (Adorama Pix) and claim they can't do anything about it. Go elsewhere instead. There are many much less slimy and much more professional places to get camera equipment. B&H, for instance, is great!

Ordered a 70" TV and it arrived with a smashed screen. Customer service is slow, accusatory and lacking the assurance that I will be taken care of properly. It will have been a week I've been in possession of this smashed TV before I even hear what they plan to do about it. Will I get a replacement in time for Christmas? I would not buy from here again.

Thank GOD for Adorama Camera!!!. As a recent graduate and serious independent filmmaker,buying quality equipment is crucial to me.Yet we all know the financial burden of buying professional grade equipment or buying the REAL DEAL.The used department at Adorama is absolute amazing.After having a very bad experience buying a lot of used and defective item at BH Photo.I decided to switch over and start buying used equipment at Adorama camera.This was one of the best decision I have ever made in my life.I have saved a substantial amount money buying used equipment at Adorama that it is unbelievable!!! I now own high end professional grade equipment that i never though I will own or afford.Thanks to Adorama camera my work a dramatically improved and I am now getting hired and picking up more work as a Freelance Videographer.I am not even ashamed to share my gear list when I apply for work and I can literally list every piece of equipment I own on my gear list. Alot of the gear that i own is from Adorama Camera.The staff and customer service is great.Avi and Jack in the used department is very flexible and courteous.They relate with the customers and understand the financial burden it takes to own top quality gear.In other words they know how to "Hook you up" and still make sufficient profit.I have traded in a lot of my old used equipment to upgrade and they accepted it even when it wasn't in the best condition.I never asked Adorama camera to issue me a check after trading in my used equipment because as much as they are willing help me out and I willing to do the same for them, therefore I do a trade instead. Adorama strives to give you the best value for your used equipment and I can tell you based on experience they give you more money for your used equipment than BH Photo,Hands Down!!! If BH Photo for any reason beats Adorama's quote they will by minimum match it.Yet Adorama's prices for used equipment is WAY MORE REASONABLE, it so unbelievable.I again thank GOD for Adorama Camera, their amazing staff,customer service,and warranty for buying used equipment.I have made so much sacrifices to establish my self as a independent filmmaker and Adorama Camera has been a major helping hand in that process.Now I am ready to created great work and be happy as a Indie Filmmaker and Entrepreneur.Thank you so much Adorama Camera!!!

Polite shop that has come a little in the shadow of B&H. Was there at Easter and was "saved" by having slightly longer opening hours than B&H. Pleasant service which provided good recommendations. Is a little less automated than B&H, but things work and they had the products I was looking for.
Was recommended to wait for the purchase of a compact camera, as they did not have the latest version in stock. It was trustworthy, they didn't want to sell just to sell. They wanted me to be happy.

Adorama is my go to photography equipment source. They have great resources and can provide you with everything you need whether you are a beginning amatuer or a seasoned professional photographer. Their prices are competitive and in addition to their store in New York City, their website is easy to search and navigate. They provide many ways to finance your purchases and delivery is always quick and accurate. Give them a try, I don't think you will be disappointed.

On two previous transactions, even if I wanted to, I could not give a 5-star on the purchase of excellent products because of the mediocre customer service. There are a lot of choices/competition out there for this type of online market but I gave Adorama a third chance to either secure a return-business opportunity or strike out the third time and take my business somewhere else. Fortunately, this last purchase experience was different, as in better, and I am giving 5 Stars.

Be very careful with this company , there online return policy is not as true as they say on the website , especially with there printers , claiming no return on toner printer but nothing about inkjet printers , and now i am stuck with a inkjet printer that i am not satisfy with , on the website there were no non-return policy on inkjet printers , stick with staples.

I was a little skeptical about buying from them for the first time, seeing various other reviews, but I gave it a shot and I m so happy with my experience. From the order process to the delivery, everything was timely and I had no complaints. My purchases came in perfect condition, packaged well, and delivered on time. I ll be keeping Adorama on my list of tech. shops for future purchases.

I called to make sure that I don't make any mistakes - the friendly lady on the phone said to make sure to include all the original packaging. I did so and Adorama credited my card promptly, less the shipping charges. Appreciate the smooth return!

I have ordered two Nikon lenses from Adorama in the last year or so and I am very pleased with their customer service. The lenses, a 200-500 mm Nikon and an 8-15 mm fisheye lens, are super and I love the pictures I get with them. The delivery of each lens was super quick. Adorama is a good company to deal with.

Sent used equipment to be evaluated. Received a quote I didn't agree with and decline the offer. Found out after appraisal, part of my equipment had been sold without my consent. This started in February. And because the process took so long, more of my equipment was sold without my permission. The rep left me with only a few unreasonable options. One being, they could cut me a check. Two, they could try to replace the equipment that was sold. (Mind you, I sent in a 5D Mark II, that had less than 50 clicks on the shutter). So I had to counter his offer with something that would work for me financially. He promised that he could get me the camera I wanted for less than $2000 and "E" rated or above. Well He never called to let me know what was in stock, I always had to check back with him. And this went on for months. The process to get my new camera took so long I had to financially overextend myself and purchase a new camera, so my other projects could keep moving. The whole process of waiting for a new camera took a total of 5months. I must say that this is absolutely the worst customer service I have ever received. I can guarantee you that I wont purchase another item from Adorama.

Just got my first invoice from Adriana this is very upsetting for starters the items I ordered came in defective and I returned the items got a conformation they had received the items back and the I got a confirmation that my account had been credited. Now back to the invoice I received there is no credit on my account plus I was charged for two items not one and the disturbing thing is they only had one of these items in stock. So it looks like I owe for two Bass guitars and have none. Would suggest note dealing with these people. Bad Bad.

If 0 was allowed I would be happy to give them that or less. Purchased a light off of eBay. Listed as NEW, sold me a USED one. Also arrived broken. Also shipped the trigger separately even though it was included in the light purchase. Their call center is in the Philippines so getting anything but canned responses from people that speak broken English and lack of cooperation with anything. Stick to buying from a reliable US based source. This company is a waste of time and money. Glad I never used their Flex Shopper for this purchase too. Scam and a half with that. Thanks to Adorama and this fiasco I am out $400 for a photo shoot because I wasn't able to use the light as expected. But don't expect Adorama to live up to their failures. Buy elsewhere and save yourself the hassles of this fraud.

Worst customer experience. They basically say sorry not sorry and are unwilling to put in any effort to absolve the issues they have created. I wasted 5 hours getting a product I paid for and have to go well out of my way to track it down. Take your money elsewhere or beware!

Purchased the DJI Phantom 3 Professional drone and had issues with it from the day it arrived. Finally DJI said it must be defective and to try to return it. Adorama couldn't have been more helpful. They exchanged the drone no questions asked and were overly apologetic for my inconvenience. I would absolutely recommend Adorama, the girls I dealt with on the phone and in customer service were incredible. Thank you Adorama for all of your help! I'll be back :)
