Ada County Highway District Review

I am H. White. I have never in my life experienced such an unorganized situation in my life time. First I received three people personal tax information. They didn't care. Then they hire the most unquified fencing and sprinkler guy as subcontractor. They had to redue my fence three times. They didn't know how to use a tape measure nor the proper psi for concert in putting up a fence post. Then this subcontractor set my spinkler system all wrong, left the front portion above ground all winter. To add insult to injury he took several items of mine for himself, even admitting it to the supervisor. I pray I never have to deal with this Nightmare again. As for the snow removal we were baried in my driveway all winter. They plowed the other side of my street leaving my side buried deep.

These idiots can't even do the jobs they are given. It takes them years to do any kind of road work in this valley, and if you are relying on them to do there jobs and plow the roads in the winter, you might as well walk to where ever you are going. They are a massive waste of money!

They will drill on the highway outside your hotel room past midnight

As if traffic isn't bad enough, you shut down eagle road?

Well they threw out tons of loose gravel out of the roads this summer. Kind of late.

This organization is a waste of money and makes our federal government seem efficient. All employees should be fired.

There was a slight problem with the chip seal in front of our home. I called ACHD and a very helpful supervisor was at my house within an hour. The crew was back at my house shortly and the repair was complete. Quite happy!

If I could give these guy's a 0 star I would. They like to put wet paint down without a warning of any kind. Just so people can get fresh yellow and white paint on their vehicles.

The Director is too busy throwing threats to citizens with concerns and not refusing to take accountability and/or answer questions.

It is amazing how efficient achd is! I have never seen anyone else chip seal as much as they do and as fast as they can.

Someone needs to bring their first attention to the light at Star Rd and Hwy 44. There is no possible way they are accommodating the influx of traffic. You sit through way too many lights-please adjust!

What a bunch of crybabies. I lived most of my life overseas, where "snowplow" is unheard of. Be thankful you can still get to Krispy Kremes in record time.

I called ADHD about a dangerous situation at a light located on a bike route near a school where children cross and where I and my children have been nearly hit many times when crossing. The person I talked to was very understanding and listened to my problems and suggestions even though i am sure he hears a lot of complaints and silly suggestions throughout his day. My solution was not going to be easy for them and I was not sure if they could even do it as it would mean reworking the timing on all the lights on curtis and roads connecting but a few weeks later I noticed a change in the crosswalk timing. I honestly think they have saved someone's life by listening and going out of their way to do the work to make the change. Thank you so so much guys, this was such a releif!

Waste of taxpayer money, the single worst government agency in the state. Instead of screwing around playing road work let the men do the jobs and send your inspectors out to check in. Chip sealing destroys road ways over time milling asphalt and repaving is the only way to do it right.

These people just stood by and watched as my older mother sat in her car completely helpless and could not move anywhere they did not ask to help push the car out of the middle of the road that was busy but just watched and looked at her very poor excuse for men have you forgotten the Golden Rule to do unto others as you would have them do unto you

No roads plowed - Ladera Subdivision - Audi Court off Lancer and McMillan. Our mailman won't even deliver mail that our court is so bad! With more snow coming it will be Spring before we get any mail as our subdivision is not even touched!!! I hear 99% of subdivisions were done, I think you forgot one and it is HORRIBLE!!!!!

Typical governmental entity. Would give 0 stars if I could.

You have plowed shut my driveway and sidewalk three times after I had
just cleared it and the path to the mailbox for the postman also. The road was fine, what the heck were you thinking. I am 80 years old and I am not the only elderly one on Bergeson Street having to keep shoveling when you or your helpers keep plowing us under.

Grateful to the ACHD for all that they do to keep our roads safe.

Would you please explain to me why the highway department can come through our neighborhoods and displace snow to cover our already clear sidewalks and obstruct access to our mailbox and access to our driveways. ? You have made more work for us. I understand the rules from your department state that if we have a private company clear our streets that they cannot cover sidewalks, obstruct access to mailboxes and driveways or cover drain systems. Why is it you can break all these rules. You do a good jobs on the main roads, but subdivisions are different.

Chip sealing may save the highway district money but it's costing me money by having to replace cracked windshields again not a fan

ACHD has, on two separate occasions, placed construction road signs in my front yard, causing damage to my grass. On the first occurrence, I relocated the signs myself. On the second occurrence, I contacted them to request that they relocate the signs. ACHD replied to my request with a snarky email stating that the signs were on their property and sent me a copy of the property map with red lines indicating my property versus theirs. They also included a statement saying that they would 'be a good neighbor' and go ahead and move the signs anyway. Apparently, they aren't willing to admit fault and also don't know how to read their own map. The map they sent clearly indicated the property where signs sat was my property, not that of ACHD. I had looked at the property lines map prior to emailing them about moving the signs off my property.

ACHD also consistently extends project deadlines. They are not expedient at repairing potholes or other road damage.

I think you all are doing a tremendous job in a very tough situation.. Let the naysayers " walk a mile"in your snow and ice boots!

It has been 4 weeks since the first snow and the response from ACHD has been pathetic. How many winters have they ever had to work 24/7 to clear roads? I'm guessing never...

If I could give these guys negative stars, that's what I would do. They were clearing up the alley. They ripped off ivy off my chainlink fence (killed the growth on both sides) and reached over the fence trimming my tree with gas or electric hedge trimmers doing damage. I complained. I got canned response that ivy on my fence and tree must have been a hazard or obstructed view. Not the case. They are vandals with no respect for private property or trees in the City of Trees.

They have not plowed our publuc street once since the snow started this season. Our business is on a public street and nobody can get in. They have plowed the connecting streets numerous times. I have called and left messages and they never call back.

February 22 2018. Hi guys. It was my understanding that you had an excess of supplies this year. How about taking some of that salt and sand and throwing it on the roads so nobody ends up dead today? I see a lot of scraping of snow that did nothing but expose the ice below it. Other than that, keep up the good effort.

Living in Idaho most my life I was used to the roads and construction constantly making life a lot harder. Then I went to Utah for a week and was reminded about how much better there system was by talking to family and driving the roads. They make repairs and redo roads that don't really need it but by the time they start to address real issues they are out of funding?? Honestly its fine once you get used to it, but it could be so much better.

Are you ever going to finish the chip seal on Overland Rd?

I have lived in seven places in the US and have traveled many more places. The roads we have here in Ada County are excellent and it is this organization we have to thank. They plan for new development so the roads are upgraded to serve the homes and businesses as they are developed, they do preventive maintenance on pavements so we have durable surfaces, potholes have a life expectancy of about 36 hours maximum from what I can tell. If I even see a pothole, it is never there when I go back in a couple days. They plan for cars and bikes and pedestrians equally well. Bike lanes are being added to make my cycling less dangerous and when there is an accident they take action as indicated to correct problems. There is a column in the paper weekly called Road Wizard that answers issues raised by people writing with complaints, observations, and questions. It is entertaining and informative. I hear complaints about ACHD and just laugh because people here do not know what a bad road organization is like. Could they be better? Well of course the could, and I think they try to do that all the time.

An ACHD driver drove my family and I off the road today 12-14-18 in Boise. My 8 year old daughter was also in the car and is still shook up over the incident. ACHD shrugged off the situation and the driver fled the scene, did not even have the human decency to see if we were ok instead he stated "I left to deesclate a possibly irritated situation". He left 2 women and a child in fear of an "irritated situation????? Really??!!. The damage to my car and the fear my 8 year old experienced was no big deal to ACHD. Last time I checked causing an accident and fleeing the scene was illegal. I am pursuing this issue until I receive the Justice deserved someone could have gotten really hurt today due to the ignorance of one ACHD driver.

Blocks driveways constantly, leaves trash after taking 2 months to complete a crosswalk...

ACHD is the kid in school who never turns in assignments on time all year, then is asking the teacher for extra credit at the end of the semester to get a passing grade. They put their cones out in our sub for about a week and had signs that the work was to be done on the 19th. It is now the 25th and they have just started. I gave two stars because in all reality it could be worse but I wish there was more accountability on time lines from them.

Want to thank the drivers of the snow plow that plowed our cul de sac this morn...So very grateful...

Lack of concern for overdue projects. Every project they start leads to delays in traffic and they run several weeks if not months late.

Great job achd. Took 65 minutes to drive from eagle to the mall today and saw no equipment on the road. Awesome

HORRIBLE when it comes to snow removal, even in years of light snowfall. Lots of money has been lost by business and individuals this year because so many people are stuck at home.

They should call a real city and learn how to build a 500 foot section of road in less than a year

I truly believe every employee strives to give the best information possible whenever I call. They are professional and very kind.
