I took a Fur Baby there that I was ready to burst to have little Fur Babies of her own, next time I'm going to be more vocal about how the guys carry my Fur Babies, they may have changed who run the place, but as far as the workers, they're as rude as always, I'm talking about the one's that are supposed to be taking careof these Fur Babies when they come in.... Fluffy is the one I took to ACCT because she was due to give birth and I noticed that her right foot was swollen and she was really hurt bad....

The people at ACCT truly care for animals. Staff and volunteers seem to love what they do and want only the best for the pets in their care. It was a great experience to come to ACCT!
Although my adoption didn't work out, I would trust the staff and try again knowing that they want the best for all concerned. Although they are crowded, they DON'T just adopt out to anyone.I saw them turn away two clients (one for treating their own dog poorly and another for trying to adopt without her children present).

My boyfriend and i just adopted the most amazing dog from here a few days ago and i has to make sure i wrote a review. We were helped by a guy named Shaun who made sure we knew what we were getting into with the dog we picked and went over all of the paperwork with us and made sure we understood everything. Thank you ACCT for giving me my furever friend!

ACCT spays and neuters and cares for homeless cats...

ACCT spays and neuters and cares for homeless cats free of charge throughout Philadelphia; all you have to do is bring the cat or cats in, a few days later ACCT will return the cats all for free!
ACCT is doing more than their part to stop cat suffering and over population but everyone has to do their part by participating.
I ve seen ACCT nurse cats back to health doing much needed injured tail amputations and eye enucleations all at their own expense.
They also pick up sick and injured animals if you just call them!
They truly are a beacon of hope and caring in a huge concrete jungle although they get a bad rap. They are cat savers and not cat killers!
Philadelphia is one of the only cities in the US with a free cat spay neuter program for outside, community, homeless or feral cats-Be proud!

My cat had a problem. We went to a couple of doctors, but they couldn't understand what was the issue. When I got here, I finally met nice people, who know what are they doing. My cat was okay after their treatment and I always call here when I have a question.

Pretty okay place for strays

Pretty okay place for strays
They are under staffed so the pups tend to cry out alot. They were also under reconstruction around the time that we went. Besides that dont look for puppies because the youngest they will carry is about 1 years. You may luck up and find a 6 month like this little guy here but it's very seldom. They try not to keep the going pups at this location for to long. The bottom pic is popcorn, about 3 to 5 years old.

My son was not happy with me about the decision I made about the kitty we call Sneezies. She is the third tiny mouth to feed which makes me a mother of 4 although I only gave birth to one. His frown turned upside down as soon as we were told that she had an eye infection and they couldn't take her. Now she is back at the ranch (the apartment) getting treatment. We'll see if she can get adopted through ACCTs services...

Rudest people ever on the phone. I called in about a stray and waited 2 hours no show. I called back and was told they don't help people who want to take strays for themselves and got a ton of attitude. I ended up having to leave the dog to maybe be impounded cause I couldn't catch it myself

I had to give up rabbits. Was really sad about it, thought they were going to put them in separate cages. They kinda of just stuff them into the same cage, which I felt was unnecessary, but that's probably my pregnancy hormones. I hope they took care of them nicely.

I adopted a dog from here through Petsmart adoption event. The public should be aware that Petsmart adoption fees are much higher than ACCT Philly's fees. Also, the dog I adopted was sick with kennel cough and hookworms.

When I contacted ACCT Philly about a partial refund of her adoption fee, they failed to respond. One guy Guthrie finally responded with an email about how they adopt out sick dogs, and I should have been told that I could bring the dog in for a limited time for treatment. He offered no resolution.

I wouldn't go back to Petsmart to adopt a pet or ACCT Philly. I feel bad for these animals, but I hate being duped. It's all about money to them.

Eventually the animals that's not adopted get killed
Very sad for the pets that will not be adopted or have a safe home to live at.
Animals are like human
They deserve to live as well
Most of the people that have pets don't treat them right
When they the humans pet owners or so called pet lover's get their play out of them
the pets usually get thrown out in the streets anyway
Left to get caught to be killed by the ACCT
because by then the pet that use to be loved and that had a safe home now is left to fend for itself on the streets
So the once loved pet becomes a street animal
That in most cases lost their trust in the humans that used to love protect an take care of them
So THE ACCT like the Government decides on what Pet/Human deserves to live by their behavior or the lack of income to help feed or shelter them
No fault really on ACCT this how ACCT organization is designed
unlike the Government of human society
So they get placed in cages and destroyed
Burnt to their bones and ashes
When their are designed to die naturally as God attended for all life to be bones and ashes after their life term as come to its point of rest.

TERRIBLE SERVICE. THEY NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE!!! ...

TERRIBLE SERVICE. THEY NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE!!! My dog was having surgery Wednesday. I was sent a email that he was having surgery and we could pick him up Wednesday between 4-6pm. We got on the road to Philly after both my fiance and I took the day off work to pick up the dog which was an hour and a half away. We got an email at 4:17 pm stating the dog couldn't have surgery that day due to other surgeries. We were very disappointed and frustrated. We were in contact with his foster and he was great but he couldn't get a hold of them EITHER. I waited until 8 am when they opened to discuss his surgery and arrangements for his pick up. They never answered the phone. At 12:30 pm I said enough is enough after several calls and unanswered emails I got back on the road and went to ACCT. I waited outside in line with no one to guide us it was a little confusing. We had to sign in outside at a table where I assumed a volunteer would be stationed. I finally got the dog all they wanted was a signature. I was so happy to finally have my boy. He has been through a lot but we will love him back to health and teach him what love is. ACCT PHILLY HAS a lot of great animals that need adoption. PLEASE ADOPT.

I got my pitbull from this shelter. It was a mixed experience, and though I am extremely happy with my dog, I was very unhappy about the experience here.
Summary: They strung us around and made the process very difficult.

We had met the dog through a puppy group we were bringing our first dog to frequently. Our first and the new one loved each other, we loved the new dog. After about two weeks we decided to adopt him from his foster family. According to the rules, he had to be fixed before we could adopt him. He was an acct dog that was being fostered. So the fosters drop him off , and we are supposed to come later in the day, a Friday, to pick him up. We were told thay since he hasn't lived in the shelter much we should pick him up quickly because it could be stressful for him. We get a call Friday that we can't pick him up because they didn't do the surgery yet. So we wait til Saturday midday like we were told, and show up to pick him up. Once there we waited over 4 hours to be seen in a very short line. They were very understaffed. Once it was our turn and we fill all the paper work out, we go through the process and then last minute they say we need a written letter form our landlord saying we can have him. We were not told this before on the many phone calls we had with them. So we go home and have to come back the next day. Another 4+hour wait on Sunday and we get to the back to fill out paper work. They don't even want the landlord letter that stopped us from getting him the night before. Finally we can take him home. He had scratches all over his face from something and they had no idea what. We were very upset but took him home and he's been our baby every since.
I'm not saying don't adopt from here, because the dogs need homes, just defiently be ready for a long wait and the run around.
Finally, they are a kill shelter.

They experience wasn't as good as I thought' the receptionist was very rude, unattentive, and the customer aervice was horrible in the beginning.

The supervisor intervened upon demand and made the surrender of an abandoned a better transition.

They never answer phone calls or emails. I have rescued several strays brought them there and wanted them returned because I found homes and I never heard any response. I am aware of the catch and release I was willing to return to get them.

It took months to get a license that I ordered and paid for online; I called and emailed several times inquiring what was taking so long. It shouldn't be hard to comply with the law. I even emailed the board explaining that their website was inaccurate and that the license group was unresponsive, and I've not heard back. Who oversees this group, anyway? What's their governance?

I wanted the option of giving them zero stars but it isn't available. I found an abandoned, adorable and loving little gray cat on my block. I called this outfit and told them this cat is not a vicious street cat but was definitely, recently abandoned. He is friendly and clean and his claws and teeth are in great shape. I was told, I could bring him in, he would be neutered, vaccinated and put up for adoption. My son took him in and the woman I had spoken with called my cell and reiterated what she told me when I initially called. My son was given a phone number and an i.d. number for the cat. We called this evening only to be told he was scheduled to be destroyed. I am FURIOUS! We gave this fly by night outfit a monetary donation, a cat carrier and blankets for taking this little guy under the pretense he would be taken care of. Again, he isn't our cat, we found him on the street. My son went up to get him before they destroyed him, we are now looking for a home for him. This outfit should be shut down, they are nothing but LIARS! My son was given a receipt for the cash donation, I will be calling them tomorrow, I want my money back for the simple fact they are nothing but LIARS! I had contacted a group, who I found out after calling, happens to be affiliated with this outfit. I was told, if ACCT Philly does not catch the cats even as part of the capture, neuter and release program and are taken in, it is normal procedure for these cats to be destroyed. Stay away from this outfit and the LAIRS who are employed by ACCT Philly.

Even in the pandemic they do a great job. They'll call you on they phone while your in the parking lot to discuss the type of animal you're looking for and go through the list of available adoptions. I was quite specific for the cat I wanted because it was for an Emotional Support Animal and I needed a somewhat as fractionate one and the staff member went back to the cages to find a few for me and came back with info. Great job

The staff was very caring and supportive of my needs during this difficult time. They provide resources and recommendations as well. Now that they are No Kill you can't just drop off an unwanted pet. This was a long time coming to fruition. So thankful that they've made it to this point. All animal lives matter. Spaying and Neutering is the key to a happy and healthy pet and a No Kill city. Informing the public about the resources available to do so will go a long way in helping ACCT maintain it's No Kill status. Jaxhumane.org has maintained their No Kill status for a few years now along with ACPS in Jacksonville, Florida. They have become a model city for others to follow. Thanks to all those who have helped save an animals life in one way or another

Someone found my dog and took him here. They took care of my beautiful son for about 2 days and they did an amazing job! Let's just start by saying the entire staff was courteous, friendly, professional, and they went above their call of duty when it came to reuniting me with my son! The facility itself is very neat and clean. Their medical staff even updated my son's vaccinations and gave him a microchip. They made me do a walk by to make sure my dog recognized me. Once he went wild and crazy then proceeded to do flips in his kennel they were convinced he was mine they sped the process up even faster. The section where you retrieve your lost pets didn't open until 10:00am the ACCT team had me and my son back home by 9:00am. I appreciated everything this place and the staff did for me and my son. I would 100% recommend this place to everyone who could use their services. Keep in mind this was all done during a pandemic!

Rude people. I have adopted several other cats from this shelter and unfortunately my last rescue was not a good match for my family. She constantly attacked my 1 year old son. I took her back to the shelter to surrender her as she could no longer live in my home. I was so disgusted by the attitude of the so called supervisor who accused me of abusing or injuring the cat. I have 2 other cats I would never harm an animal.

The employees there were very polite. Just think that if you're making an appointment for a specific dog that's the one you should be able to meet. They need to fine tune that part of the process.
