Welcome may not be the best word to use for this M...

Welcome may not be the best word to use for this Mecure. We really didn't have any of the hotel staff really help us when we arrived or left. They were very preoccupied with computer screens doing some kind of work. Lobby felt like it was shoehorned into the ground floor. The two lifts would often be very busy so be prepared to wait during the morning or evening rush. The room was ok but on the plus it was spacious. The bathroom was a bit claustrophobic for a Mercure property. The decor was ok but you could see where the room itself could use a quick splash of paint or some new skirtboards. Breakfast was so so. The usual soggy bacon and eggs in and a pancake machine that was almost always needed a refill when we ate at 8am. The breakfast area does get very busy so be prepared to go early or later if you can afford to. This Mecure did have a shared bar/meals area with the Pullman. We did like the Wagyu burgers when we did eat there hut seating is limited.

Overall it feels like this property is under some sort of upgrade as there were areas with temporary walls. Maybe the upgrades will bring this hotel back to the usual standard I expect when traveling to Accor properties and the Mecure brand.

We have been coming to the Mercure since 2008. Love the location for shopping and the footy. Only having one lift is an inconvenience if you let it be. My daughter and I have been taking the stairs when there is a crowd waiting, luckily we are only on the 6th floor. We will continue to stay here on our trips to Melbourne.

Never actually stayed here, booked a room only to have them claim my credit card details were invalid all 3 times that I supplied them. Booked at another hotel with the exact same card details and no problem.
Good luck guys lol

Always a pleasure. We try to stay here every time we go to Melbourne. Can't always stay because it can be expensive at times.
Best shower I've ever had in a hotel. Great water pressure and able to turn the shower head away while you get the right temperature.
Beds aren't the softest but are certainly okay.
Staff are always friendly and come out to greet us.

It was a great location but nothing special. I made the mistake of accommodation for 1 oerson instead of 2. Reception picked this up and pointed out we needed a bigger room but said they couldn't do anything. Then why say anything at all? Also the room you had us in 1138 was right outside the house cleaning get together place. So at all times of the day they were extremely loud and i asked them once when I was trying to sleep in on Sunday at 745am to keep it down i was thrown nothing but terrible looks and judgement.

Staff very friendly, fantastic location, newly refurbished rooms but tiny bathrooms. beds were not great my sisters room had a bed that was lopsided turning the mattress helped a little. we let staff know and they changed the mattress for her leaving her a bottle of wine and choccies as a sorry to inconvenience you. Which was a lovely gesture.

I was picking up a work college who was staying there and the place looked very tidy but the rooms was extremely small and your window view was a concrete wall. Staff were very helpful at the desk when my college went to check out. Located right in the heart of the CBD with easy access to shops

Three nights, and a great experience

Aside from one elevator being out-of-action for much of one day, it was really good.

We really enjoy our buffet breakfasts, made better still by the gentleman (with glasses) who is always so friendly and inviting.

Really dissapointed, traveling for work & charged ridiculous prices for a tiny room $305 per night overlooking a dodgy, filthy back street. The beds are uncomfortable & the minibar is empty, it literally has nothing in it! Very rundown. Tried to move rooms but told none left because of grand Prix. I'm writing this from the terrible bed and not looking forward to another night here tomorrow. I will tell work to never book this place for staff again.

Mecure Welcome is in a very central location near Bourke Street Mall. There are free trams which are all in a short walking distance. There's plenty of shopping centres nearby to keep you entertained with everything. Reception is available 24 hrs and the service is quite excellent. Safes are not available in individual rooms but they do provide safes if you ask at reception.
Buffet breakfast is provided for $20 p/day and believe me, it's a reasonable price for a decent meal compared to other places. Most of the things are easy to use and access and it's at a reasonable price. 5 stars for me

Stayed here 3 nights and the service is good.
Beds are super comfy but the shower was not the best.
Very average quality breakfast and dinner experience too.
Well, they're still not half as bad.

We have stayed at this hotel before and found the location very convenient. The rooms are always clean and while not overly well maintained are adequate for the price paid. The breakfast is also more than adequate. The reception staff were particularly helpful. We have been members of the Accor rewards program for several years and always prefer to stay at Accor branded hotels if they are in the locations we want to visit as we know what standard to expect.

Our room served its purpose. We were staying in the city for a wedding an knew we were only staying in the room for sleep only. Got what we paid for which we were happy with. Breakfast included in our room rate was fantastic, buffet breakfast is a great cure for a hangover!! Valet parking was fantastic.

The hotel room smells, the cleaness is bad, sometimes smells of frying food enter the room, heard quarell of neighbouring rooms. Picked a large bed, instead of a large bed, got 2 singlebed combined together that made less comfort because of the middle of the joint . Definately not coming back there

The hotel is located smack in the middle of Melbourne CBD at Swanston Street. Easy walking distance to many of Melbourne City attractions and easy to catch the trams to other locations.
Our room for 3 adults was comfortable although a bit small, the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was quite tight in space.
Hotel staff and reception nice and friendly and we liked the breakfast.

The check in process was completed expeditiously and courteously. The staff managing vehicles were extremely helpful with directions to the car park and warnings re: using the correct park. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Stayed here on a business trip. The hotel is in a very busy area of the city. Lots of street noise in the room. It was difficult to access by car and then to find the suggested car park. The room was clean but dated and a bit pokey. Staff tried hard but it's a busy place. Personally I'd look for somewhere quieter next time, but it was ok. 3 stars.

Convenient location. Friendly staff. Small room with spotless newly renovated bathroom. Appreciated the 'Eco' option of not having our linen changed each day, in return for $10 meal credit. Excellent breakfast part of the price. Only drawback was an alarm in the middle of the night and a noisy fridge.

Perfect for the price. Really could not get better for this price in the city. Be sure to use web based sales for better room rates as they are cheaper then dealing with the hotel directly. Staff were polite and very attentive.

If you're looking for somewhere to stay in the heart of Melbourne on a budget and are in the city for shopping - the Mecure is a great option. Be mindful that it is not super luxurious and rooms are small and also note if you are sensitive to noise that there is quite a bit of foot and vehicle traffic past the hotel (especially on weekends).

I have definitely enjoyed my stay with this hotel because of the location it provides inside CBD in a price that is very much affordable.
The services was in fond of me due to their cleanliness.
Hope to see you again.

A reasonably priced hotel room in heart of the Melbourne CBD. Check in a breeze, I stayed in a Superior King Room on the 12th floor overlooking Chinatown. Staff were courteous and helpful, check in was quick and easy. Room was spacious and well equipped. Bed was slightly lumpy, with a ridge in the middle where the singles were stitched together to form the king. With two people sharing a bed probably not an issue, but in the bed on my own, sleeping in the middle, a bit uncomfortable.

The convenience and the price make this a place to consider for future trips to Melbourne.

Great location of Hotel, but the room, 650, was very noisy due to being next to lift that disturbed our sleep well after midnight and started again around 5 am. We were awoken by the alarm clock as it was set for midnight. Did not think to check before retiring for the night. Lesson learnt.

The F&B credits were much appreciated.

Price was good, but took a long time at the reception to organise everything. No shower gel in the shower, no slippers. On check out I saw a flyer on there desk showing for an extra $40 you can upgrade for a better room, a bottle of sparkling wine and something else. I was a bit disappointed about that. The rest of the staffs was very friendly. I would say a 7/10

Hotel was in a good area though the staff weren t nice and seemed to be doing their own thing, rooms were very dated and the bed was really uncomfortable, and with no pillow menu, the night was really poor.

TV was on its way out and quality was really bad

Bathroom was small but shower was excellent

Room itself wasn t decorated and was boring, with the mini fridge in the cupboard.

Air-conditioner was nice but really loud even at minimum fan speed

Breakfast food quality wasn t great and with not enough variety

The hotel (in fact) gives Accor a bad reputation and since the staff are very ignorant

Price was fairly high (maybe because it was NYE) but does not seem worth it

Wifi was free but slow (even for Australia standard) around 0.25MBPS during non-busy hours (5-7am)

With a view of a wall and a small street, would expect a bit more as well

Sorry guys,
-Rat

Tiny room, noisy airconditioner and a leaky shower head. No room service. Wouldn't be the style of hotel I'd take my wife too. Can't grumble too much more as I wasn't paying for the lodging's and I was only in the room to sleep!

Reception staff were very welcoming. Interior of hotel is a bit dated and the elevator made some interesting creeking noises. The room on the 10th floor was very uninspiring, with one small picture on a wall. There was no colour in the room and the view from the window was a concrete wall of an adjacent building. I'd booked for the central location, which did not disappoint. Right in the centre of Melbourne with easy access by public transport.

The staff are really nice but can t say the same about the rooms. There s a number of things I came across.
1. Air vents in the room were really dusty on the in and outside
2. The walls are thin, you re able to hear nearly every door open and close on the floor
3. The rooms don t look like the photos on the website and feels claustrophobic
4. The showers are small and kept on hitting my arms on the soap holder
5. The water pressure isn t really that strong and half of the shower head actually worked
6. Beds are hard
7. No accessible power points next to beds
8. The view from the room was a bit trashy looking could have a garden maybe at the back of the building

Been to the Mercure 3 times when staying in Melbourne last year before & after my cruise at Christmas & New Year also stayed there for a few days in 2017. Very conveniently located in the centre of Melbourne. Rooms also en-suite are comfortable , very clean & tidy.
Staff are very friendly & provide excellent friendly professional service & the food in the buffet breakfast is excellent & delicious.

Small room, asked for a double bed and was given two singles, romanic night for me and my partner. Cheeky little blood stains on the doona that had no cover on it. Old food trays left in the hallways for our entire stay. Rude young ginger haired receptionist with 0 customer service.
Everything about this place is outdated and they are clearly operating on a tight budget don't care about providing quality rooms and service. They do provide a kettle, but no sink
