long-ish walk (with two heavy bags) through chinatown from the car parking facility (valet parking was an additional expense I did not use)
welcomed at desk, directed to lifts, found room - lovely and quiet!
desk chair at low height compared to desk - thank heavens no drawer underneath - as a business traveler I need to be able to have a good desk - laptop and chair interface - keeping body in an ergonomic position - so the extra pillows were useful.

Handy location, but entry is very dark since being closed off for the new development of the Pullman Hotel that is adjoining. The entry to Eve's Cafe was very disappointing and felt a bit sleazy

We stay at the Mercure Welcomer whenever we're in Melbourne. It's a bit quirky and the building, particularly on the ground floor, gives the impression of being used as a hotel temporarily, but the location right in the CBD is excellent, the staff are always friendly, welcoming, helpful and efficient. Staff are very good at organising transport back to the airport at reasonable cost. The in-house Louden Restaurant is okay-ish, but we really like the Cocoon Bar on the first floor, which is roomy with a good atmosphere and roomy enough that there's a variety of seating and nooks so that you don't have to be blasted away by sport on the big TVs. During this stay we lost a bag of shopping and the hotel staff were very helpful, chasing up and letting us know outcomes etc. The two lifts are often a disaster - slow, not enough lifts for the size of hotel, often out of order etc, but guests familiar with the hotel are prepared for this and just treat it as one of its eccentricities.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The reception staff warmly welcomed us back especially Annie could not do enough for us. We were very pleased with our room 1237 and will be requesting it for our next stay. The Green idea is a very good one. We enjoyed our welcome drink and breakfast and meals at Loughton Restaurant very much once again the reception and service was excellent.

Booking on line was easy, check-in was prompt, courteous and straight forward, our room, although small, was prepared by some-one who really cared about their job, and serviced beautifully the next day. Everything went smoothly, the location is perfect, and we were able to store our baggage - again hassle free and easily collected later in the day.
We were in the room next to the lift, which was noisier than on previous stays (machinery whirring ), but whether it's possible to do any more damping of sound I don't know.
One small suggestion would be to replace the 6 tiny plastic milk containers with a small carton of fresh milk (250ml ) when the room is serviced for new clients. The tiny milk things are awkward to use and were insufficient to have more than two drinks in total. The 250 ml container would only need to be replaced when the room is vacated, and would not cost a huge amount per room, while adding to the comfort of the rooms
The breakfast was adequate in terms of quantity and the fresh fruit and cereal were delightful, as were the beverages. The hot breakfast items were not of the same quality - mushy scrambled eggs and the bacon was very fatty and cooked in a manner which left it dried and unpleasant. A pity. Having the daily newspaper available at the breakfast and in the foyer was a great touch.
Overall though, this is a terrific place to stay - perfect location, delightful service and a perfectly comfortable bed. As regular visitors to the city, we believe this is the best value going!

"go green" programme recently entitles guests to get 10$ credit/p. to spend under hotel faculties. still able to ask for an extra and late check out, if u r lucky with a super nice staff that is most ppl are and so service-minded. facilities such swimming pool on top floor n rooms are under renovating into pullman standard. worth a stay. join Accore member to get 1$ bf.(not male) when booking.
however there is a middle age plummy Pacific guardian madam at the front desk which attentive and curious you probably could skip. enjoy.

Ideal location, and the room was what one would expect at the price it cost. Don't expect to be pampered, but if you're looking for little more than a room as nd to keep to yourself, this will suit you. Also, I ordered a Queen bed. Not two single beds joined by some uncomfortable apparatus. That was ridiculous.

The location is very convenient and the room seemed clean enough however one of the coffee cups still looked like it had coffee in it. Other than that the staff were very friendly and the check in/out service was quick. I would return to this property.

Enjoyed our stay, staff very friendly and helpful. Great position right in the heart of Melbourne. Only disappointing factor was no opening windows, hence had to use the Air Conditioning. This was extremely noisy, which in turn made sleeping impossible. Maybe supply customers with air plugs would be helpful.

Poor experience... room resembled a prison cell. Noisy fridge, paper thin walks, noisy plumbing, blocked shower drain pipe, the level stunk, room was outdated and extremely uncomfortable pillows. Lifts were slow and crammed. Parking was way too far away which should have been advised prior to booking.

Recently had to stay here for my quarantine period.

Treated like absolute second class citizens, shocking service, pathetic meals, meal times at ridiculous hours, phones don t work, front desk staff unresponsive to calls - the list goes on and on.

Someone in government needs to reconsider using this poor excuse for accommodation immediately.

Quarantine is already a very difficult time, and the hotel made it about 10 times worse. There was a gentleman with a disability (in a wheelchair) across the room from me, who cried for the the first two days and staff did little to assist him and attempt to improve the quality of his time.

I would have given zero stars if I could.

Great location. Buffet breakfast included was great, good variety, no pastries though. The room is a good size, not small. The bathroom is adequate, tub is scratched and needs to be re-enamelled, but otherwise fine. Pool & gym is well maintained. Good service from the staff as well. Enjoying our stay here!

Not sure I would stay here again. Looks good from the outside and reception. But as soon as you get to your floor it turns into something different. Rooms small and noise from street (back alley) is loud during bin collection.

Breakfast disappointing. For this price one expects a full fledged buffet. Extremely limited bread options and hardly or no choice in cheese or meat products. Hotel was fine but breakfast not for me anymore.

Hotel very convenient in this district.

We were greeted by the friendliest staff who were so helpful. Our room was comfortable and clean and was sufficient for our stay in Melbourne. The room was a bit noisey but I expect this from a city centre hotel so always travel with earplugs. Hotel was a simple/standard Place which acted as good base in heart of Melbourne.

Not worth more than $50 a night, average room with hard beds and pillows, parking off site, maids started knocking on doors to clean rooms at 6:30 AM????? ON A SUNDAY TOO! Yet general cleanliness was average because it felt old and needs an update. very noisy, small rooms. Good location though and friendly staff
