I went there on Thursday for their happy hour special to get my eyebrow and upper lip threaded and I like how close it is to the OCC Royal Oak Campus. Jean is very gentle and professional when it comes to facial threading. The staff is very friendly, they'll ask you if you want anything to drink before your appointment, and they are actually willing to have a conversation with you. If you're student at OCC in Royal Oak, this is the right place for you. If you want to schedule an appointment for their happy hour special on Thursdays between 5pm-8pm, it's recommended that you call them a week prior to make sure your desired appointment time is available.

I arrived early for my peel before my appointment time. I waited for some time and I kept asking how much longer until I would be seen as I had another commitment later that day and the front staff kept saying the facialist would be done soon and was with another client. The woman at the front desk brought me tea while I waited, which I finished and then continued to wait. Thirty minutes after the start of the appointment, the facialist finally came to greet me said that the previous client had arrived late. When I explained I had to be somewhere else and didn't want to be cheated out of my service time when I arrived early and asked to reschedule, I was bullied into my appointment saying she would make it quick. The session took place in a awkwardly small room. During the session, the woman was difficult to understand and made fun of a pimple on my face. The glycolic peel itself seemed to reduce redness in my cheeks. At the end of the session, when I had to make my next appointment the woman awkwardly reviewed everything while I was trying to put my shoes on and there was minimal space in the room for both of us to be standing by the door. After, she wanted to sell me some products and change my entire skin care routine, even though I let her know my current routine sounded similar to what she was recommending. Overall, the front staff was nice, the environment was a little awkward, and the facialist was somewhat inconsiderate.

Found a groupon for a European facial and decided to try this place out. I usually get a facial once a month just for Maintenence so I m pretty familiar with the process. I just moved here so I was trying to find my go-to place. The woman giving me the facial walked up and asked my name then told me to follow her. We went to the back of the salon to what looked like a tiny room under the stairs... it was crowded and messy. The music playing was loud bird chirping (not relaxing at all). You could tell her brushes were old and not well kept. Her strokes were stabbing motions in my face and she kept repeating wow you have so many dark spots and blackheads .. very unprofessional. I have super sensitive skin and Can t use anything with SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) it s a really common ingredient in beauty products and she had no idea what it was. *red flag* when extraction time came, I thought she was going to break my nose she was pushing so hard. It was a mess. After extractions she lathered my face with a thick heavy oil and let it soak :/ Spend a little more money and go to a Med spa.

The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. My facial was wonderful!

Marla is the goddess of eyebrow arch. I've been going to her now for almost two years and she's always upbeat, funny, and professional. The spa itself has very friendly receptionists and the space is funky and fun.

A most enjoyable, relaxing experience. I had my make-up lesson done last week. Robin taught me how to apply the new colors I am now using. When I left the salon, I felt beautiful.
The face products I bought make my skin glow. My make-up stays on the complete day. I recommend going to About Face Beauty Spa.

I was here several years ago for a facial. The woman giving it commented "what are these brown spots"... they're called freckles honey. Common with redheaded fair skinned people. Get a clue. Didn't give me a good feeling about the service i got.

Everything was AMAZING. Beyond my expectations! Will definitely be going back.

I ve been going to About Face for skincare for 3 years now, and have recently started getting hydra facials with Rina here, and they ve made a noticeable difference! I have a minor scar on my face, the hydra facials have made it less noticeable! I also get European facials which are relaxing, and leave my skin looking clean and healthy. Robin and her staff are super friendly, professional and extremely knowledgeable. I ve always made an effort to take care of my skin, but they ve taught me how to take my skincare routine to the next level. I ve also tried many of the products that they have available there, and think that they have had a positive effect on my skin as well. Taking care of your skin is a commitment, but the results are worth it. I look younger now, than I did 3 years ago when I started coming here!

Avoid this place. The owner Robin couldn t be more unprofessional! A very bad experience!

Purchased a groupon for an European facial. Without a doubt, best facial and overall beginning to end service ever. Welcomed as soon as I came in. Nanda is amazing. I ve had many facials, this was the best. Can t wait to go back for more of their services. Would recommend highly. Cant wait to give as a gift too!

Had a chemical peel done by Rima. Shes Bey sweet and gentle. She gave amazing advice on my skin and what products and regime to use. the atmosphere was very welcoming. Everyone that works there had an amazing smile. Just full of kindness. I have purchased my next to peels with a great deal. will be going back in the new year for sure. Chemical peels should be done by professional and Rima is an estheticians. So I and confidante with my face in her hands!

I received an amazing facial here! So amazingI almost fell asleep three times! Lol highly recommend this place I m afraid I didn t get the name of the lady specifically who did my facial though. Next time for sure!

I would give no stars if I could. Bought a Groupon for a chemical peel at this location. Called to schedule and asked if there was anything I should do with myself before hand and was told no there is not much too it and to just come on in. When I got there I was not greeted until 15 minutes past my appointment time. When I got to the room and was about to get my peel the facialist noticed my face was a little red and commented I should not get a peel if I had been tanning. She instead gave me a mini-facial that I was later asked to pay the difference for. I said I didn't think that was reasonable seeing as I was not told that I couldn't tan that day and they had already redeemed the groupon , but said I liked the salon enough I would be willing to try to do a chemical peel again when I hadn't been tanning. So I bought a package deal of three peels. The facialist suggested I wait 4 to 5 days to do my first peel with no tanning. So I did. On the day of my peel I googled how to treat my skin before the peel and all websites were saying I should not have tanned for 2 weeks before getting a peel. I called the salon to tell them i would like to reschedule and wait and was greeted by the owner with the most arrogant demeaning attitude I have ever received as a costumer. I was bullied into being told I just keep the appointment that day. When I explained to her all the factors of why I didn't feel comfortable she then proceeded to comment on how she doesn't support tanning and it is not her problem if I choose to tan. After her being so hostel I asked for a refund in which she got even more hostel about and refused to refund me my money even though she had not completed any services and it was obviously not going well. Now I am having to file a dispute with the bank and wait a month just to get my money back. Please Google users, do not use this service.

I have been coming to this spa for 8 years and never once have I been disappointed. Gene is an absolute wizard with (almost painless!) eyebrow threading: my thick, Mediterranean brows come out looking perfect every time and they last for weeks. Robin s makeup is also fantastic, especially for us olive skinned folks. Every staff member I ve interacted with is wonderful and talented. Don t miss their happy hour facial special. I d highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for quality at competitive prices in the heart of downtown Royal Oak.

I love ABOUT FACE BEAUTY SPA!! Robin owns this salon and she is an absolute doll, very helpful and talented. Rima, forgive me if spelling is not correct, does the most amazing facials and peels. I keep going back to Rima for the peels because they are top notch. I highly recommend About Face Beauty Spa.

Had a trial make-up session with Robin before I decided if I would have her do my make-up for my son's wedding. I loved what she did and her products. I can't wait until the wedding! Great staff as well!!!

The worst facial and customer service experience! I called to book an appointment. I wanted to make sure that esthetician use Bioelements products. I am a License Esthetician & License Massage Therapist. I use Bioelements on my clients and on myself. So I am very familiar with this product. My appointment was on Saturday June 8th at 430. I arrived 20 mins early to fill out paperwork. There was a festival going on in Royal Oak. The front desk girl Amanda told me that the parking was free this weekend because of the festival. She told me to park in front of the spa. When I finished my paperwork a lady took the paperwork and told me to follow her, never giving me her name or introducing herself. I asked her was she going to be my esthetician, she said yes. I asked was she the only esthetician she said yes. She said that manager can t keep anybody and she just hired someone who just graduated from Aveda. She said that she knows that she s not going to last because they never do. Everything that she put on my face I asked her about. I told her I have dry skin and she told me that she saw that I did. When she put on the mask I knew instantly that something wasn t right. I asked her what type of mask is this. She said clay mask. I said clay mask is for oily skin my skin is dry. She replied that I put this mask on everyone and that my skin will be fine. We were arguing back and forth. I asked her what school did she go to. She said that she did not go to beauty school. She did some training in Russia. I told her that she s supposed to follow the Bioelements protocol sheet. She replied I know what s best for you. I said that your supposed to give me a hand and arm massage while the mask is on my face. She got mad and grabbed my hand and slapped some lotion on my four arms and hands and asked was I happy now. And when she put on my moisturizer she forgot to put on facial serum. When I question her about this. She claimed she never heard of that. After the facial was over. I looked through her products and found the facial serum. I came out of the room and questioned her about it. We went back and forth arguing again in the lobby. I was ready to go. Thank God I had a groupon. It s not worth $75. I still left her a tip because I am in the industry. Amanda never asked me how was my service. I went out to my car only to find a ticket on my car window. I asked Amanda about this. She said I thought it was free. This is the most unprofessional place I have ever been to!

I had a wonderful massage. Very knowledgeable and skilled.
Everyone at the salon is super friendly. Will definitely return back
