I've been a 37 yr. customer of MTEMC. They have been a dependable and responsive provider of electrical power for my family here in Rutherford Co.
I well remember them showing up on a cold, rainy winter night to solve an outage problem affecting my street. It was not a simple fix. The problem was due to an underground cable fault which was causing pole mounted limiters to blow down at the highway. They responded in force, bringing in digging equipment from Lebanon to expose the cable and make the repair. I had a good view of the process since the fault was under my front yard. They eventually replaced all of the direct burial cable in my neighborhood with cable encased in conduit in order to head-off future problems.

I had the pleasure of working with Melissa to start up our service. There was a few hiccups on our side and she took care of it all very diligently. She was a pleasure to work with, and if she is a reflection of the incoming service we are very blessed to be working with such good people.

Just spoke with 2 customer service representatives...

Just spoke with 2 customer service representatives who were completely rude. The first young lady didn't give her name, no greeting whatsoever, was so short and unprofessional. After the call ended, I spoke with an older woman who was professional and helped my issue, but was still short and rude. This isn't what the volunteer state is about!!!

MTEMC has no sympathy for elderly people that are on a fixed income and on oxygen!!! Now since she couldn't make a payment on her bill. We had to call 911 to send ambulance to tqke to the hospital!! More bills Thank you MTMC!!

Customer service support has been lacking immensel...

Customer service support has been lacking immensely until I called today. Lonnie took the time to research, explain, and even offer solutions for our problem. He has been the ONLY representative to take initiative and realize there is another human on the other end of the call. He didn't tell me there was nothing he could do, he didn't dismiss my concerns, and he DIDN'T offer to escalate me to a supervisor because he didn't know what else to tell me (all situations encountered in the past).

Not the smartest cooperative when it comes to tech...

Not the smartest cooperative when it comes to technology. Customer service is mediocre at best. Seriously considering going back to the dark ages with no electric would save me thousands a year. Usually, take your power down at least once a month for an hour or more with no credits for increase usage they cost in cooling.

Awesome Non-Profit Company that does so many great things for Middle Tennessee & it s customers! They also take great care of the employees...you d be hard pressed to find a better overall business, that s a promise!

Just received my bill for Jan. 2021, and it DOUBLE...

Just received my bill for Jan. 2021, and it DOUBLED!!! There is NO justifiable reason why this would happen! I have not changed ANYTHING with my routine, and I went from 800 kWh to over 1600 kWh. According to my MTEMC statements the average low last year was 40* and this year it was 37*. I own a 1300 sq. ft. home with a high efficiency HVAC unit and water heater (both installed three years ago).To say I am an extremely unhappy and frustrated customer is an understatement!! The internet is "blowing up" with my very sentiments. MTEMC needs to provide an HONEST and plausible explanation!!

Customer service on the phone is absolutely horrible. It seems as though they hate their jobs and the customers even more. If I had the option to change electricity companies, I would have already done so.

It's really unfortunate that they are the only electric company in my area because if I had a choice I would not be using them anymore. I set my services up a year ago. I had to put down a deposit because I was moving from out of state, understandable. I was told that after 12 months of being a good faith customer that the $300 deposit would be turned into a credit on my account and my bills would be deducted from that until it was gone. Today I called in just to see where I was because my 12 months was almost up and I have paid every single bill early. The representative told me that their policy was 24 months not 12. I told her that is not what I was told at the time I set up the service. After basically calling me a liar I asked to have my call reviewed because I know what I was told. I was then told that calls are inky retained for 90 days. Great, I was given false information and there is no way to prove it. I asked for my call to be escalated to a supervisor. The supervisor called back and once again I was called a liar and told that the csr that set my up was a long time employee and there is no way she would have given me wrong information. It's truly unfair that I am offered no alternative and am being lied to and treated this badly when I have made 12 payments early and have not been a problem customer.

They charge outlandish amounts for arbitrary reasons, employees treat you like garbage, and overall the service is like something from a Saturday Night Live skit. But they're the only electric provider in the area and they know it, so get ready to take a second job and start writing some hefty checks...if you want to have electricity you had better just keep your mouth shut and put up with whatever they want to dish out!!

We have been MTEMC customers since 2010 and have always had great service when we've had power outages or other issues. Most recently, our power went out on a Sunday night. It was not our neighborhood or street that was impacted - just our house. Within an hour of calling the automated service line, technicians had come out to assess what was needed and ordered the part. Within just a couple hours total, the part had been delivered and our power was restored. I was so impressed with the speed in which our issue was addressed (on a Sunday night), especially since it was just impacting one house. MTEMC always comes through for their customers, and we appreciate the service they provide!
