A very good museum for adults and children alike and was a location for another iconic NYC movie. We visited today and opted for a what you want to pay ticket where you pay the amount you need for entry. The queues picked up 15mins before doors opened so recommend queuing up a bit before that. Recommend allocating a large part of the day as it's vast.

World class museum. Has a way off gross generalities in making representation of people especially African history. I would recommend this place to anyone interested in getting an introduction to the word history.

I was very disappointed to be honest. I was expecting some really cool things. Yeah, some of it was ok, but overall I found it boring, gross, and/or dusty. The majority of the time I felt like I was on a budget school field trip. One dusty decomposing taxidermy after another, it was depressing. Also I felt like there were as many gift shops as exhibits, literally one around every corner. If you have a bland life, love dead animals and are easily amused...you may love this place.

This museum is the single most amazing museum that I've been to. Very huge and extremely informative. Do not do the mistake I've done - to try and cover the entire museum in one go. Instead visit multiple times and spend time leisurely.

There is a suggested donation for the entry ticket. But, you can purchase the tickets for as little as $1 per person.

So thankful to all the people maintaining this amazing gem of a museum!

Incredibile museum spanning natural history from earth formation until modern times with an incredible planetarium you have to visit. The diorama are incredible... seeming almost alive and real. A visit is a must.

This place will definitely leave you in owe. It gives you the chance to see the whole world inside one building, and also takes you back in time to visit every civilization that you could think of. I spent 4 hours and probably seen 1/4 of the museum. We will definitely come back to finish the journey. There's a parking on site if you can't find a spot on the street

Takes more than one day to see all exhibits.
Be prepared.
Tons of stuff, dinosaurs, different people's cultures, history and origins, animals from over the world, the earth, planets, space exploration and much, much, more!
Really enjoyed myself.
Ran out of batteries for my phone so remember to take your power-bank with you.
I had only one day and ran it off time.
Did not get to the space, planets and earth sections add well as Asian Civilisations and most of the animals and birds on the 3rd floor.

The museum is beautiful and the art is well displayed. However it is quite difficult to find one's way around without the additional guide@ 28USDA. Furthermore, the only restaurant I could find served low quality food, severely overpriced, even though, here as well, ambiance was great.

Gaudy and outdated. Beyond rubbery plastic dioramas, the blatant eurocentrism and lack of nuanced global relations is cringeworthy and embarrassing on the world stage. Its 2019. Dust yourself off and fix up your racism. Don't see an European peoples exhibit, but you homogenized 'Asians' and 'Africans', and still label Indigenous folk 'Indians'. Laughable. Hop across the park to the Met, you'll get your money's worth in an internationally celebrated museum.

What an amazing museum. I could spend eternity wandering this place and still find new and amazing things to learn and discover. Well curated and well designed. He artifacts are incredible and there is plenty of space to sit and enjoy the space without feeling rushed. Also tons of interactive elements

It was alot of fun. Kids loved it, especially the temp t rex exhibit. However, if you really want to read and learn about all the exhibits it's hard to do with kids (just the nature of kids) but the food and entrance fees are extremely over priced, in my opinion.

We visited the dinosaur floor (3rd). They have wide range of fossils from many different times (original) and so much information to gain knowledge about the times and the animals that lived at that time and all. I would definitely recommend it. It took us half a day just to cover this floor and there are 3-4 more floors that we still need to go and look at.

Thanks To LORD Jesus for another day.

Thanks To LORD Jesus for another day.

It's best to know what you want to do before because it will save you from getting a headache.

I visited the t rex, butterflies, ocean's, wilderness 3D, space universe and many other.

Wilderness 3D was fun wearing 3d glasses while the animals come to you, it's about 45mins but fun.

Space universe was nice while you sit the screen in the ceiling is big but nothing can't create nothing! Look around and you will see GOD created all, if you reading this open the kjv bible and read.

Butterflies by far was the greatest time I had, the butterflies are flying all over the room and it's a bit warm in there. You see all kinds of butterflies from around the world just beautiful, They could land on you don't be afraid they won't harm you. A must see!

T rex and ocean's was ok I was hoping for a better experience I was disappointed for kids they will enjoy themselves. I was tell you from my experience see the butterflies first!

The food court was horrible very expensive and the food was stale and on top of that we seen a roach

4 stars because the food court was horrible!

This is my favorite science museum. Incredibly beautiful and great seasonal exhibits. If this is your first time, you could already spend all day making your way exploring the permanent galleries. Pay for the "Dark Universe" planetarium show. It's a must see.

If you live in New York and have more time, I highly recommend catching an IMAX 3D nature documentary in LeFrak theater, or come watch an after hours debate some time (I saw a science debate with Fabien Cousteau once). Also, get a membership of you're going to come twice in a year with a friend. It will pay for itself if you're checking out paid seasonal exhibits and movies.

This museum is great for anyone under the age of 10. The exhibits have great works that bring animals of all kinds to life in their habitats. The dark space show is very good and the only reason I'm giving the museum two stars. While fossils and dinosaurs are not my favorite things, I would at least like them to be real when I go to see them. The T.Rex exhibit seems to be the only exhibit that they put time and effort into is okay at best. I came here with my family, and one of the things on our list was the giant whale, which conveniently closed on the day of our visit. I personally wanted to visit the gem and mineral exhibits which are apparently going to be closed for 3 years. 1/4 of each floor is occupied by gift stores. The layout of the museum forces people to backtrack and planning a route with the horrible map is even harder. I think that this museum is the largest tourist trap that I have ever seen, and if I come back to New York in the future this museum will not be on my list, and I recommend if your stay in NYC is short to find something else to spend your time.

One of the best museums I've visited. It's easy to get there, even at the weekends, because of self-service ticket machines. The diversity of items is really impressive. You can have a creepy feeling while watching those stuffed animals - they look like live ones! Reserve almost a whole day if you want to see everything in there (4 hours is the absolute minimum).

This is one of my most favorite museums in the US. The exhibits are fabulous and the museum all around is just so great. My only issue is that we had to wait in a HUGE line just to get a ticket we already paid for with City pass. I get it that we need a separate ticket for a show, but at least allow CityPass people to get their ticket at member services or something..especially since we already paid for our ticket.

One thing interesting in this museum which is, there is a suggested price but you don t have to, you can donate a certain amount and this pay for your ticket.
Right in the basement you will find a big court food and a nice restaurant where you can have your own meal or purchase some. The food is well prepared e delicious, the staff is friendly and welcoming which I am very surprised because I haven t seen New Yorkers being friendly.

I love the museum! There's so much to see and so much depth at each exhibit that it's very easy to visit multiple times and learn something new every time.

If you prefer not to have small children screaming in every exhibit and running around all over the place, I do strongly suggest visiting on a weekday.

The main entrace with it's stairs is one of the main location of the movie "Night at the museum" (2006). Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) gets a job as night security guard at the museum and the job turns out quite different than expected.

The building is very impressive as well as the whole museum is extremly interesting and highly educating!

We wanted to "Pay what you wish" but the T-rex exhibition was extra and ending up costing $80 for 2 adults and 1 child and honestly wasnt worth the $80. Next time Ill just purchase general admission and pay what I wish and just go to the 4th floor for dinosaurs.

Not worth the price. Don t go there.

Not worth the price. Don t go there.
The COVID-19 security measures are excessive. The penguin at the garage entry asks to check your trunk. Then other penguins upstairs check your temperature and make you go through a metal detector. Long lines and waits make you feel like TSA.
The heat inside is 80 degrees. Bring your shorts and flip flops. No air ventilation whatsoever.
50% of expositions are closed. No room to eat. The cafeteria is closed.
You decide whether it s worth it.

The museum is huge as most people know. There was an extremely long line when we arrived. The security was instructing people to turn the corner And head to the other entrance since that entrance had no line if they didn't but Very few people left the line. I was glad I was one of those people that laughed because a second entrance had no line and we entered the museum without any problems or waiting time. It was just nice to see statues and fossils and learn about the body and African animals and explore the different exhibits.. The weather was cold and I had friends from out of town so this was a great opportunity to learn, take pictures and have some educational fun. It was crowded with families and kids but still it was a good time.

The dioramas on the first floor (the North American animals) were really impressive and the panels on both side of each diorama were informative and educational. The same couldn't be said about the displays on the second floor. Some of the lights were even broken.
The special exhibition I went was 'the wonders of the arctic', and I enjoyed the viewing.
With minimal directional signs we got lost a couple of times in the museum.

The line moved quickly, and we got in within 5 minutes. We used the app to navigate and were able to get everywhere easily. The food court was a madhouse, I wish we'd gone outside and used our re-entry abilities to buy lunch. We spent almost the whole day here and still didn't see everything we wanted to see. Overall, a fun visit.

While our first visit was cut short due to a freak blizzard that had a lot of the exhibits closed we returned yesterday to see the show at the planetarium. We told the ticket counter we only wanted to see the movie and explained why they charged us seniors $45 to see this very short movie. Rip off and unfair.

It is really a must when you come to NYC, although it is not the best Natural History Museum I've been to.
You have to try one of their exhibitions - they are amazing!
And of course - lying under the big Blue Whale and wondering if it is going to fall and crush you. Or is it just me? ;-)
The Hall of Biodiversity is my favorite room! It is amazing!

Especially loved the exhibition on North American forests and the large cross-section specimen of the Californian sequoia tree on the first level. A nice peek into the natural flora and fauna of the US to be explored in a day.

I visited while I was in New York City. It's right across the street from Central Park. There was a very long line outside the doors of people waiting to get in and was extremely crowded while we tried to see the exhibits so we had to stay close or we would have lost each other in the crowd. See photos I took and you'll see what I mean.

Another thing I found interesting was the cost of getting in. They have a suggested price for kids and adults, but you can pay as much or as little as you want since it runs off donations. I've never seen anything like that so that was pretty cool. The ocean exhibit was closed downstairs which sucked but what I did get to see was awesome. I felt like I was in another country bc almost all the other tourists there spoke different languages, which was pretty cool.
Other than that, beautiful museum and exhibits! It was definitely worth it coming here!

Always a must do when we're in NYC. You pay what you want. Staff is helpful and courteous. Love the Hall is Biodiversity, North American Mammals, Dinosaurs, and giant Blue Whale. It never gets old. It can get crowded on rainy days. Get the Penny Passport here, it's cheaper than on Amazon! Fun to collect and they have different prints throughout the museum.

The museum itself was lovely, or at least what I saw of it, but be warned that if you're unaware of when it closes none of the staff will warn you and will still charge you full price. I went in at 4:30 on my birthday, paid full price plus extra for the Dark Universe exhibit which was at 5 and was told to get their 10 minutes early. Got there early like I was warned, and then we just stood around for a while. I just feel ripped off because there was no times posted around anywhere, no warning from employees, and there was a very long line of people coming in behind me that I'm sure paid full price just like we did. If you could have your staff warn people or maybe have a discount option for later times, that'd be cool. My birthday was kinda ruined a bit because we all paid almost 30 bucks for basically nothing, so we couldn't do the other things that I wanted.

One of the best museums I've been to. It's huge, enormous, so you have to choose what you want to see.
Animal section, or rather divided by continents and classes, is very cleverly made - they dioramas, so a background painted and the animal and some of its surrounding real. Very impressive and let you see each animal in its natural habitat.
The dinosaurs section is also great, tons of skeletons and bones.
There are ethnographic exibitons as well, so everyone will find something for themselves.

I grew up going to the American Museum of Natural History so I am admittedly a little biased, But to me this is the museum to which all others are judged. So many great exhibits for both adults and children to get excited about, and I still get excited to visit. Oh and DINOSAURS!

A truly one of a kind experience. I had very high expectations for the museum and I have to say: it was better than I could imagine. You should really take your time to see things in detail. There's just so much to learn. I'm definitely a smarter man since my visit! :)
