This place is awesome!! I always enjoy my time here.
Bring lots of time to spare and an extra pair of legs . There s so much you want to see but can t.
Weekends during holidays are too busy. Please try to avoid.
One of my favorite places to go and visit on the weekends. There's so much to see and explore. This is definitely a place you would need more than one day to really grasp all it has to offer. The space exhibit is one of my all time favorite spots. Seeing all of the planets modeled against what would be the sun is fascinating. The only downfall is that my favorite planet, Pluto (now considered a dwarf planet) is so hard to find. I know all of the controversy surrounding this museum and Neil D.T ideas of Pluto. I think Pluto needs more recognition at this museum!
The dinosaurs are stunning, not something you want to miss out on. The extra shows they offer are amazing and truly worth their price!
By far one of the most amazing views at this museum has to be the display of nature. All of the trees, roots and leafs are amazing to look at and learn about.
Any traveler coming to New York City, please make sure this museum is on your to do list!
I recommend this museum to everyone! there is something for everyone to see and enjoy. No matter you age or interest this museum is so large and diverse there is surely something worthwhile for you.
2/12/16:
This is my second visit to the museum and every time I seem to always have exhibits and things I want and did not get to. It's a pretty large museum and one that you should not briskly walk through. There is much to see and learn. The Rose Center for Earth and Space and the Hall of North American Forests were particularly interesting and impressive for me. I also viewed a National Parks film here in the LeFrak Theater and it theater was wonderful. I can't wait to visit here again.
It's definitely in need of repairs and dusting. A lot of the displays didn't have lights on so we couldn't read anything in them and we even witnessed one light go out in front of us. Also, all of the bathrooms were disgusting and all of the staff seemed pissed to be there.
Wonderful instructive and informative experience. Staff at tickets and cafeteria were not helpful or courteous.
Very nice museum. Typically very busy on weekends and holidays. If possible visit during the week. They have special exhibitions that cost a lot extra but they are usually very very good and worth the extra large cost. Entry tickets are for a specific time but you can stay as long as you want. NO re-entry! Dinosaur exhibition is very interesting, educational and impressive, it spans a whole floor of the museum. Also the smaller exhibition about earth on the ground floor is incredible, interesting, educational and well made. See there many real They Came From Outer Space including one that fell and hit a car in nearby Peekskill New York.
Very interesting place Come On Museum Natural History it's the place where you can't get bored yes your kids will love that place awesome place
If you think that this is a boring museum, then I hasten to please you! The name is misleading because the California Academy is the funniest and most lively place in New York, NY Yes, yes! The building simply seethes with life - a rainforest, an aquarium, coral reefs to which you can dive with scuba diving and wildflowers on the roof of the building, how wonderful it is! The academy is located in the Golden Gate Park of San Francisco
The best museum I have seen, beautiful and very large. One day you do not have to go through it completely if you want to appreciate it well. But the only thing I did not like was the service, it was a terrible one, the employees with angry faces all the time and they got upset if you asked them anything.
I purchased a City Pass to be able to skip the line at general admission. Here, 2 clerks are processing City Pass admissions and I was waiting for 45 minutes. The general admisson is much shorter. On top of that they are rude. Very bad customer experience.
A truly massive museam, you could spend the entire day and not see everything. A wide range of exhibits and shows offer something for everyone and the massive size helps spread crowds out.
This is a good place to go too. I went a little later in the day so I had to rush a bit but overall... good place to see.
very nice!! I recommend coming at two because it s less crowded!
Before you visit this museum get ready because you will need all day long just to see one part of it. The museum is so huge and so interesting and for sure you will be amazed. Dont miss this opportunity and visit this beautiful museums.
Great place to spend an afternoon. Lots of interactive displays and interesting exhibits. Buying tickets online with my phone was easy and fast.
Old school large museum! Really fun and really big!
All the museum has is beautiful and the people work there is very nice!
Loves it. Would need a couple of days to appreciate it.
Fantastic place for adults and for kids at all age.
Founded in 1869, this classic museum contains a veritable wonderland of more than 30 million artifacts including lots of menacing dinosaur skeletons as well as the Rose Center for Earth & Space, which has a cutting-edge planetarium. From October through May, the museum is home to the Butterfly Conservatory, a glasshouse featuring 500-plus butterflies from all over the world that will flutter about and land on your outstretched arm.
Free its last hour (4:45-5:45pm), and admission price is 'suggested' at all other times (so free, if you have the chutzpah to suggest $0). Central Park West & 79th St, Upper West Side.
Great exhibit. The space show was awesome but a tad long...had a quickie power nap during it.
I love this place! Amusement guarantee for people of every ages.
A must see. Huge, but take your time. Very expensive.
I wish I could give you negative stars. People like Chris Filardi are everything that is wrong with this world. Once again, a terrible monster disguised as a human, with no respect for life and a sense of false entitlement. I will never support or visit your terrible museum of cruelty and you can guarantee I will encourage everyone I know to stay away as well.
Filled with history and knowledge, definitely would need a whole day here to see everything.
I usually like museums but this one wasn t that great. It feels like it s for kids and older people, not for 20-30 year olds. I mostly came for the Our Senses but the city pass did not included that. They wanted $10 per person. Stayed for about 30 minutes. Also the bathroom on the 3rd floor is disgusting and missing a stall door.
I went to AMNH for the first time since COVID yesterday. To control crowds they are doing reservation based ticketing to get in. There was plenty of space to spread out and even the dinosaur exhibit that is usually packed was pretty empty. It actually gave you the chance to stand and read about different things that are usually blocked. There are hand sanitizing stations all of over the place, a lot of one ways, and signs when you re entering a narrow corridor so you know to stay the right. The only negative is that there are a lot of exhibits closed including the meteorite room but it would be a cleaning nightmare so I get it. All in all, I never felt unsafe or overwhelmed so make the trip! Also, they still have the pay what you want tickets for people in the tri-state area.
Classic museum in NYC I have been coming to since I was a kid. Love to see the exhibitions I've seen and also new ones. Huge museum but can get through most in one visit.
Good range of exhibits. Prepare to stand in line and wade through the crowds during busy times.
An amazing experience which will require at least a full day to enjoy in its entire extension. All expositions and shows are so detailing! I'll go back to it anytime!
Wonderful collection of dinosaurs fossils & mammals
Visited this Museum today (1/1/18) It was a nice trip for me. I got a bit bored after a while but I stuck it out. I saw a few theatres, food places and many video clips/brief movies on the different sections. Also, there are some areas in the museum that you have to purchase additional tickets to enter.
Do NOT go after Christmas or if it is raining! Also the museum has absolutely NO guide that is clear way to explore the entire museum. NONE of the staff if you could find one was helpful or courteous. So navigation through the museum was miserable, and so many people my small children and teenagers were unable to even see the exhibits. I am sure we missed a lot of stuff but we couldn t figure out how to navigate floor to floor and the enormous amount of people made this experience truly miserable. Get a better map, have signs and instructions to navigate efficiently through museum, and hire more helpful and kind staff!!
RUDE is an understatement!!!
This place is beyond awesome! This is definitely a New York City institution!! This has so many things to offer! So fun and so educational. They are very good about checking people to make sure they are not sick. Many checkpoints before going in. The color exhibit was just ok. It was a bit crowded. The T-Rex exhibit was not and it was totally worth it. The museum shop has so many neat stuff to buy. Staff was helpful where things are. The planetarium and space sections where the rocks are, are still closed. I definitely recommend this place for tourists and locals!! Enjoy!!
