It's nice to know that we have a company that care...

It's nice to know that we have a company that cares for their customers, a1 heating and cooling is always there, weather it is hot or whether it is in cold weather season, we always can rely on them, and our go-to guy is Maurice, so reliable, he is so professional, and he knows what he's doing, thank you for having such a good company and employees that you have to offer for all of us in Santa Clara county.

I contacted Lowes installation and i got two people to bid my air conditioning project. A-1 was one of them. The person came out, looked briefly at the rooms and out doors - less than 10 minutes , asked no questions and then submitted an estimate of over 19,000 for the job.
I told them i was waiting for another estimate-- I looked at what they wrote up and started asking questions- ie which units were they installing, why those units, did they pull the city permits or did i, etc etc. Basically i got no answers at all - and no further contact.

Evidently it was a take it or leave it bid. I left it. When i finally contacted an HVAC installer through a network of contractors I knew the bid came in at 9800 dollars. and they spent a long time looking around for access., available electric supply, places to locate the units, they discussed the various installation options and the equipment.

My suggestion is you have nothing to do whatsoever with these people.

I live in a condo, and our homeowner's association...

I live in a condo, and our homeowner's association hired A-1 to move my air conditioner so some trenching could be done next to my unit. A-1 cut the refrigerant lines and moved my A/C condenser/compressor. After the trenching was finished, they then reconnected the refrigerant lines and (supposedly) filled the system with refrigerant. But my A/C still didn't work, so I called and had them come out again. Their excuse was my A/C "didn't work before they cut the lines" - something that is not only untrue, but also something that they had no way of knowing - since they didn't have me turn on the A/C and check operation before they started the work. So I called again - and they added more refrigerant. The system appeared to work just before they left, but now - two weeks later, it no longer does. I'm guessing that the system is leaking because they didn't do a proper job of resoldering the refrigerant pipes. Now A-1 is refusing to take responsibility and is back to telling me that my unit was broken before they started and will do no more.

My A/C still isn't fixed and I'm exploring other options. Don't call A-1!

Short version: Professional, courteous, and knowle...

Short version: Professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend A1HC. The employees I interacted with (Maurice and Marcos) are the kind of smart, genuine people that make a company like A1HC really top-notch.

Long version: I met Brian (home show supervisor) at a Mountain View downtown event and signed up for the $49 A/C Tune up special. Maurice came to service my unit a week later and he was so professional and kind. While it seemed like the unit was turning on, it actually wasn't, so Maurice had Marcos also come take a look because it was a non-standard older model. The unit ended up being a gonner. In a non-salesy way Marcos outlined my options, and he didn't pressure me to buy something I didn't need or to make a decision before I was ready. I'm still not sure yet but will be reaching out to A1HC when I do decide. Highly recommended!

I had A-1 come out to move our furnace from 1st floor into the attic to free up a closet downstairs. From start to finish working with A-1 was a great experience. They were quick to get an appointment for an assessment of the project, quick to provide an itemized quote, and once we gave them the green light to go into contact, they were fast to get us scheduled for the job. The project took a bit longer than planned, but only cause A-1 wanted to ensure the job was done correctly and to ensure we would pass inspections and get the work permit signed off. A-1 and their staff were always professional, ready to provide project status, and able to pull in additional resources to complete the work. We were ultra impressed with the work that was required (I definitely underestimated the work required) and the job that they did - not only did they complete the move, they also ran a new source and returns to improve overall circulation in our home. Owner Brad was onsite and always came across as honest on the work ahead and quick to ensure he had the right amount of help to get the work completed. We passed inspections without issues. Want to also give special thanks to Oscar and Horacio who were the ones that did the herculean share of the work on our project. They were early to arrive, ensured the work was done well, cleaned up the work site every night, and ultimately represented themselves as excellent contractors ready to deliver high quality work. I would highly recommend A-1 for any/all HVAC needs, and if possible, ask for Oscar and Horacio! You could not be in better hands.

I just had a 60 year-old furnace replaced by A1 He...

I just had a 60 year-old furnace replaced by A1 Heating company, and they did a GREAT job! In particular, three of their employees, Bill, Haji and Memo, were particularly responsive and polite. They took away the old furnace, replaced it with a new one, insulated all my pipes and installed a new thermostat. All of this was done very efficiently, and everything was cleaned up afterwards. I would definitely recommend them again.

I had my furnace and ductwork replaced and I could not be more frustrated with A1 Heating. I have never worked with a company that has made me this unhappy. My highlights:
- While giving the quote they promise things but didn't write most of it down to the contract
- They said they would get the job done in 1 day during quoting, however when the crew came they said there was no way. We hadn t arranged any hotel etc. After discussing they ended up enabling just the bedroom heating so my pregnant wife could sleep warm. It was a 2 men crew, while 1 of the guy was working efficiently the other was pretty bad.
- They promised HERS testing would be done by a 3rd party company to verify their work
- Then they said there was pieces of asbestos tape in the house and they can t do an official test (why wasn t this communicated during quoting?). Instead asked me to accept their own testing. I spoke with Bill for this, he was very rude, would not listen to me (he couldn t take criticism on how they quoted me in the first place)
- The day they scheduled their own testing I took time off work and they didn t show up. They rescheduled, this time to 8am so I was the first customer in the morning. Yet again they did not show up.
- I called about 20 times during a 2 month period to get an update on scheduling testing (this is before they said they wouldn t do official HERS testing), each time they kept on saying they'll give a call back and they never did (so frustrating!). In about 10 of these cases it was Christina.
- During the replaced they worked quite dirty, I ve seen other companies seal all the rooms etc but these guys did not. Cleaning the house was quite difficult after the job.

To this date I have yet to get testing done. It has been 2 months since the job was complete and I have been calling them at least once a week.

Groupon had an offer for $51 air conditioner maintenance from A-1 Heating and Cooling. The tech looked at the A/C unit and said it was fine. (He didn t even turn on the unit) I asked if he was going to do anything and he said that as long as it was not leaking, there was nothing to do. He did apply some tape to an exposed wire and left.
A week later, when we turned on the unit for the first time this year, the fan was not turning. At 7:30am, I called A-1 Heating and Cooling and left a message explaining the situation. I mentioned that I would like some kind of discount on labor, but would be willing to pay for all parts. No one called me back so I called again at 8:45am. The lady on the phone said that Melissa was not in yet and would call me back. It was early afternoon and still no call, so I decided to take $51 loss and give my business to a competitor.
The new company arrived within hours and said the capacitor was bad and replaced. I asked their tech what is done for a normal PM and he listed 8-10 things that should have been checked the capacitor being one of those things.
I am so disappointed in A-1 Heating and Cooling. I am not sure if the tech s less than professional attitude was because of the Groupon price or if this is how they do business. This company took advantage of my time and money. It has been over 24hours and still no call from A-1 Heating and Cooling.

We had a challenging new Heating and Nest issue from some poor prior installation, and our heating unit is in a challenging spot. Mo was super helpful, took on the challenge with a great attitude and helped resolve the issue quickly. Thanks!
