Great food and top notch service. I highly recommend the veal medallions. They are excellent

WOW -- WERE WE AT CITRON OR MCDONALDS?.
AFTER WAITING 90 MINUTES FOR OUR FOOD, THE WAITER ADMITTED THAT THEY SERVED PART OF OUR ORDER TO ANOTHER TABLE. THEY THEN PUT IN ANOTHER ORDER OF MUSCLES WHICH WAS BROUGHT SIZZLING, BUT RAW AND INEDIBLE. - EVEN A BEGINNING CHEF KNOWS THAT IF THE MUSCLES DON"T OPEN THEY ARE RAW AND CANNOT BE CONSUMED.
-THE MANAGER SAID HE WOULD NOT CHARGE FOR THE RAW FOOD (GOSH THAT WAS NICE) AND WOULD GIVE US DESERTS "ON THE HOUSE" -- BUT HE FORGOT TO TELL THE WAITER. SO WE JUST GOT OUR CHECK (AFTER SEARCHING FOR OUR WAITER AGAIN) AND LEFT.
CHARLES, THE OWNER OVERHEARD ALL OF THIS BUT COULD CARE LESS AND NEVER GOT INVOLVED BECAUSE HE WAS TOO BUSY SITTING AT THE NEXT TABLE SMOOZING FOR 20 MINUTES WITH ONE OF HIS REGULARS.
THIS WAS OUR 3RD VISIT TO CITRON, THE FIRST 2 BEING MEDIOCRE, OTHER THAN THE BEAUTIFUL VIEW, BUT THIS IS THE LAST.....NO LOSS SINCE THIS PLACE WILL BE OUT OF BUSINESS WITHIN A YEAR UNLESS THEY GET IT TOGETHER.
Lovely place...but beware of how they total up your bill, had two friends experience the same problem will never go back.
Lovely scenery vibe & staff, we had a slightly large group yet the waitress was the best, very kind & attentive.I believe her name was Megan I told her I would leave a review because she was sooooo sweet:)
Good food and service. For the money there are better dining options. The setting is loud so be prepared to have to yell across the table on busy evenings.
Breathtaking view with the outdoor deck hovering over the quarry lake. Food impeccable. Tasteful cocktail menu carefully thought out with all fresh ingredients and homemade tinctures. Live music outdoors on Thursdays. Great way to treat yourself, a date, or a group of friends/colleagues.
I want to be fair, given the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, but I have to say it s another disappointing option in the county. Compares with the restaurant in most mid-level hotels. Our hostess was surprised we didn t want to sit outside even though it was raining, and halfway through our meal, one of the floor staff came over to take the extra chairs from our table. We weren t using them, but it was rather odd. Later, they brought one back, but not the other one! You have to wonder what s going on when it says on the menu that all parties will automatically be charged the 20% gratuity, even just two people. When they brought my wife s mussels, they took away our decorative plates but didn t bring back replacements, or silverware. Our server seemed dedicated to only our table in a very large dining room, but we hardly saw her, wondering whether her main section was in another part of the restaurant. We pointed this out to a lady who seemed to be a manager of some kind, and she was gracious enough to comp us a late arriving glass of wine and one of our appetizers. Finally, it seemed to me that African-American diners were seated in one section indoors, while Caucasian diners were seated in another section. I m still processing
Was there for an event. The event was great but food was late and not all that good. Got charged for valet parking and the sign said complimentary plus the car was parked directly in front they didn't even take it anywhere.
I want to piggy back on another person's review. I too was at the reception this past Sunday. When my husband went to get a drink from the other side, he was unaware of another party going on. But the owner rudely told him to leave! He didn't have a problem with leaving but the harshness in Charles's tone is what took my husband over the edge. My husband has had several successful work functions at Citron, and was always treated fairly. But as a normal, regular guest of a wedding party, not so much. Totally unacceptable!
The service was a little slow, but not terrible. The food was delicious. The calamari was the best I've ever had. The crab cake was very delicious, and full of meat. The steak was cooked perfectly. I was very satisfied with everything.
We tried out their happy hour (Monday-Friday from 4-7pm). Wonderful little menu of small plates ($10), Drinks and wine selections ($8). It was so relaxing sitting outside on the deck, and the food was good....The spring rolls and angus sliders were the best, followed by the salad then the calamari.
Wine was just ok (had the Pinot noir, my friend the rose) so I ordered my second glass from the regular menu (Syrah at a whopping $21 per glass!!!! Excellent, but ouch).
Service was ok, but they took the bread and then removed our plates as soon as we finished the first two small plates we ordered....even though we wanted to order more from the happy hour menu.
Other than that, this is a really beautiful restaurant with a good value happy hour.
Guys, I gotta be honest - I don't recall last time I was this disappointed with a restaurant. Went there with 2 other couples on a Friday night and noticed only a handful of tables being occupied (should've been a que).
The interior of the restaurant is great - you can tell no expense was spared and the place looks very nice (especially for Baltimore). The bathrooms were clean. Now onto the negatives:
The waiter forgot to offer us bread and butter and after sitting down for 15-20 minutes we requested to see the menus. The owner/manager stopped by and suggested that we try the lobster "that's just incredible and gigantic". At $75, we figured it would be special. When Lobster arrived, I was convinced that it was deep fried chicken. It was literally the worst preparation of Lobster I ever tasted. I guess the chef wanted to get that KFC flavor, but at $75 it just seemed ridiculous. The owner/manager returned, and instead of asking how we like the food, just said "the Lobster is fantastic, right?". We just stared back in silence.
My friend ordered a steak "medium", but it arrived "rare". No big deal, happens, so she sent it back. It came back when everyone else finished their food - looking just as "rare". When she raised the issue with he waiter, he said he would get her a free desert. Ruined $50 steak made it to the bill, but she did get a free $7 desert out of it. My wife's fish was incredibly dry, and the rest of the menu left much to be desired. At $300 per couple you just don't expect to be screwed. Never again...
I loved the ambiance and our waiter was excellent. I find the prices on the high side. We were lucky it happened to be Restaurant week. I forgot to mention that the food was excellent too. I will visit again.
Great ambience and great food. Very classy restaurant. Our server was very friendly and funny made out night so much better. Prices are a little high but is a great dinner date restaurant.
Inviting atmosphere and friendly wait staff. Date night here we come.
Great food.friendly service.Beautiful outdoor bar!!
Staff is arrogant and rude. Music obnoxiously loud. We could hear it miles before we were even in the parking lot.
The restaurant was clean with plentiful hand sanitizer. Our party had all different meals and had no complaints with the food. I'm not a veggie person but the veggies were wonderful. The cauliflower mash tasted lile mashed potatoes, ssooo good!
Great place for a date. Beautiful rooms and a choice of what atmosphere you want based on where you sit. Everything about it was impressive, but the food was... uninspired? It was a good meal and everything tasted fine but for one of Baltimore's best, I expected just a bit more. The whole place feels curated to the finest detail, it seemed odd that the meals weren't top-notch. Again, very tasty. Just not quite the best.
Do Not Go To This Place! Overpriced food and drinks! Lady friend and I went to this place tonight. I m thinking that this might be a nice place. We decided to eat outside and my date noticed that there was a mouse running back and forwards behind where I was seated. Our waiter took our order but instead of taking drinks, appetizers and food. He only took drinks and appetizers. Appetizers came first and the drinks came 15 minutes after that. He finally came around to our food order and that took another 20 minutes. The waiter apologized for the wait and gave us two glasses of wine which was nice. So, the food came and I ordered salmon, rice and green beans and my Lady had salad with chicken. Her meal was excellent, I had a few bites after my meal wasn t good. The Salmon was half cooked and I eat about half before I couldn t eat anything more. Took forever to get my waiter to respond, he had tunnel vision and didn t even notice me when I raise hand. Eventually, he came over and I told him that my salmon wasn t cooked. He took my plate and went to the kitchen. He returned with my messy meal which was left, they must have put in a convection oven. So disappointed, I have been to a few restaurants over the years and this was the worst that I had been treated. And on top of it, they had the nerve to charge a 20 percent gratuity. Stay away!
Amazing restaurant. Food. Is amazing and the service is the same. Please visit Citron. U will not be sorry.
The interior of the restaurant is beautiful with good ambient lighting. There weren't many customers that night so we weren't seated in the larger room which I think look even nicer. We went at the dinner time so didn't really get to enjoy the amazing view.
Service was great. The waiter was courteous and offered free desert to our friend for her birthday.
I give it a 3-star because I was expecting more from the menu. The options were limited and the food I would say was just mediocre.
I do plan to return for a lunch some time to enjoy the view and for the good service that I received. I hope next time I would like the food better.
Great atmospher. No words can describe how good this macadamia nut bar is. Amazing!
I recently dined at Citron and my experience was nothing short of spectacular. Our waiter and the owner were both very attentive. The food and drinks were definitely on point. To top it off, we were seated right by the lake so we had a beautiful view while we dined. They took the necessary precautions by limiting the indoor/outdoor seating, cleaning carefully after each table/seat was vacated and all of the people that worked there had masks and gloves on. Top notch restaurant that we will DEFINITELY be returning to.
Citron is hands down a five star restaurant that is a must dine. The service was amazing, we felt like we were at our uncle home for dinner. The food was amazing the sushi was fresh the presentation was amazing you must taste the difference for yourself.
Giving one star because of the owner. My girlfriend and I came specifically for happy hour, which is posted on their website and their menus. We were told they weren't having happy hour because the restaurant was closed for a private event. Fair enough. But then we were told that we were welcome to a table, and to order off the full price menu. Huh? So they won't honor the happy hour menu during their posted happy hour, but we were welcome to pay full price for things. We asked the hostess if she could verify with the owner that this was his decision, which she did and it was. This was my first experience at this restaurant and probably my last. What was the owner thinking?
Had a wonderful time here. The decor was modern and stylish. The service was excellent. The live entertainment was the icing on the cake.
The food was delicious and the staff was amazingly friendly! We will definitely return. Also, planning to host an event now.
Lovely view. Friendly staff and well prepared food. My pasta dish with shrimp and scallops was delicious.
I went here with my family and there was very slow service. We waited three hours. The food wasn t so great either. We got a margarita pizza which was covered in oil to the point where you could actually taste the oil. My sister got a burger which was cold and hard. The fries were also undercooked. The waiters were very nice and apologetic. We weren t so pleased with this restaurant, wouldn t recommend it.
Very nice restaurant. Was there for a party, but the finger food was delicious. Staff is really friendly. Would like to go back for dinner soon.
Service is excellent and a great view from the patio. Food is delicious.
Good food, good service. But a little to expensive for what you get.
Fantastic meal, wonderful service. Expensive but worth every penny!!
My family would like to thank Citron for the most delicious thanksgiving carryout.
It was done with ease
And in these times most appreciated.
We love Citron and keep coming back to eat inside as they
Have state of the art
Filtration and Hvac
Systems.
We are safe at Citron
The food was delicious, as always. The service was great!
Wonderful food!! Beautiful space and view. So glad we dined here and wonderful service.
My family had an appointment with Charles Levine early on a cold, rainy Sunday. He never bothered to call or show. This was for a sizable party. I took a break from being on call for this meeting.
We will never book an event anywhere to do with Charles Levine or Citron. Nor will I, my family or friends patronize the restaurant ever again.
Very poor business.
I can hear the attitude in that reply. Another poor business practice. On a cold rainy Sunday morning Charles Levine did NOT leave a family birthday party because we did NOT meet with him. There was NO phone call telling us he was not showing up for our ELEVEN o'clock appointment. We tried to contact Charles and the was no answer.
If you had your own family event, you would not have booked the appointment in the first place. It is in poor taste to post false responses!
Very expensive, some of the food was worth it, not the alcohol
Three phrases:
Great food.
Great service team.
Awesome Ambiance.
Great ambiance, staff, and of course food and drink.
Hands down Baltimore's sexiest, most sophisticated, and enjoyable restaurant and lounge. The decor and atmosphere, from the staff to the music, were spot on. I've played and dined at some of the best in the world and this is truly world class. Thanks to Chris and the Citron team.
The food was delicious and a very fine dining experience.
They have the best mussels cooked on a grill top. I have a better suggestion if you want smoked. The sea bass was not the best and for the price, I should have at least been mildly impressed. I was not. Will be back for atmosphere, mussels and drinks. On the bar side.
This place is awesome. Valet is quick and easy. Hostesses are so friendly and pleasant. They always accommodate our bar reservations requests. Bartenders are knowledgeable and very friendly. By now they know what we like and it s in front of us within minutes. Food is great. Prices are good. Atmosphere is fantastic. We enjoy this place nearly almost every Thur or fri night. Cannot beat the pleasure of live music. Sunday delicious branch. We keep going back !!!! Thank you guys for putting this gem in our area !
it was amazing, not only was the food amazing, the staff were wonderful.
Great place for drinks and ok service but the food is terrible and overpriced. Eaten there plenty of times and every time I ve been disappointed... IT IS NOT FINE DINNING!!!
I received a gift card for my anniversary and my husband and I went last night. The restaurant is pretty, but when I saw the menu, the prices are outrageous. I don't mind fine dining, but the service was not very attentive. I had to wait for everything, server was no where to be found. The muscles were huge, which I was excited about, but then I had 1 bad muscle and one had stuff in that was hard and I cracked my tooth. Very upsetting. My husband didn't like his dinner and didn't eat it (pasta) and I enjoyed mine, but had already cracked my tooth, so I couldn't eat and had to pack ti to go. For a place charging this kind of money in the middle of Pikesville, the food and service should have been top notch and it was far from that. I hate writing bad reviews, but my tooth sent me over the edge due to the muscles that I was served.
If your wanting a great steak, this is definitely the place to go
Gem on the quarry
Impeccable service, timeless design and stunning views. Toured the restaurant and enjoyed a beverage. Will definitely be back to experience a meal! This is a place where you get what you pay for...from the food to service and ambiance. Location is perfect for bringing out the fancy dress and jewelry. There were older folks enjoying a meal on the patio, business meeting at a table and a sophisticated yet leasurly lunch vibe. Easy parking is a pretty sweet bonus...
Citron Florida esc place that has a great atmosphere, is high priced , with better than average food , and attentive staff.
What makes this place great and worth the price is the environment / ambiance, definitely upscale open and airy.
I personally like the bar and the outside deck areas (season permitting).
A burger and beer for 2 will cost $60.
For those of us on a budget of sorts there is a happy hour.
(recommend the mussels)
I always have a good time and the food is better than average.
When you consider other like place high price places in the area Tark's, Valley Inn, Ruth Chris ,etc. this place to me is the most comfortable.
Food and Service was wonderful. Highly recommended.
Service was slow due to Valentine's Day. Food was great.
Went for secret supper and it was awesome..I'm not sure why it's not 5 stars.... everything was fresh and tasty great the atmosphere wonderful it's a great date spot with valet parking what more could one ask for.
Very nice atmosphere. Great food and coctails. A bit pricey but great for special occasions.valley parking available.
One of my favorite date night spots. Try to get the table in front of the fireplace, it s so romantic and the music is awesome. Please try the Sea bass, it s amazing. It s the only dish I ordered besides the cream of crab soup which is also good. The service, ambiance, food, drinks....love this place!
I hosted a party on 12/14/19. I reserved the mirror room. I was told I would have would have access to Pandora. I asked about it several times, and never got it. My fault for hiring a comedian for a private event, that would not affect the other patrons. Emily told me that I could not have a comedian. The menu that was displayed to guest, had no prices listed. We had to ask for a separate menu to see prices of the food. Food came out overcooked, under-cooked, and some food came out well after others had been served. Lobster bisque tasted like a "pillar of salt" and contained shrimp instead of lobster. Some guests got vegetables with their meal, whereas others got no vegetables. I received 2 slivers of carrots as a vegetable with lamb chops. We were set up with 3 tables of 10 persons. However, they would only allow 1 check for 30 people. Why not at least 1 check per table? That tells me that this is the method that this company uses to rip people off. There is no way that 3 tables of 10 people should be paying on 1 check!!!! Also, Jack and Jackie were AMAZING!!! But 2 waitstaff taking care of 30 people is not enough. Should have been 1 waitperson per table. When it was all over, Citron said I owed an exorbitant amount. I paid it. Had this been a few years ago I would have walked out, and seen them in court. My guests had a good time because we had not hung out in years. The smiles on their faces was because we were enjoying each others company. My guests and I left hungry and very disappointed in Citron. Never ever again!!!!!
This is a nice place, great dining and service, parking nearby. Free valet parking also. Reminded me of an upscale hotel bar/restaurant. The negatives, which won't matter to some, were: small portions, small draft beers, and very large prices. It really reminded me of the movie L.A. Story where Steve Martin is having dinner at a trendy restaurant and looks at his very big plate with very little on it. Not that that is bad, necessarily, but it was funny to me. All that said, this restaurant is very good, just not a good value.
If you want a quarter scoop of ice cream for $6, this restaurant is for you!
My company's holiday party was at Citron. Food was fantastic and so was the staff.
Charles (management, owner) is condescending and rude. I will continue to experience all that this area has to offer and will never patronage Citron again. Body language and energy comes across clearer than words and it was clear that my friends reception party was not welcomed there. It is also clear that while our money spends the same as others, we are not welcomed or treated as polite and kind as others. 0 stars should be an option for this review.
Really wonderful and classy Restaurant!!! The food was cooked well, (we got the sea bass) and our waiter Harry was super courteous!!! Wonderful ambiance!!! Nice soulful music selections when we were there!
I went there for a friend's wedding. It is the most romantic place with the most delicious food that I've gone to in years.
A disappointment overall. Restaurant is very pretty (although not sure why we were seated in the side room rather than than the main area) and service was excellent. But the food was just OK (scallops excellent, but both crab cake and salmon too salty). And for the prices being charged (only hamburger and children entrees are under $30), food should have been excellent.
The food was good. The service was good. It just seemed a little over priced. $40 for 4 scallops and $17 for a martini. The atmosphere was very nice. A little loud in the main dining room.
Great service. However, the food was not that desirable, it was creatively bland and basic. The insainly small $12 Caesar salad lacked dressing and flavor. Sadly, the wine and date/rasin bread were the highlights of our meal.
The owner is very pleasant and ensures his guests are taken care of. The food is amazing and the view is something to look forward to for the spring/summer. The happy hour on Thursdays includes a live band. They're talented and not too loud where you can't enjoy regular conversation. Must visit and experience this beautiful venue with the best customer service.
It's where the "pretty people" go food was good drinks are overpriced
Horrible service but great scenery and decent food. It took 30 min to place drink order and finished my salad before dressing came out and wife s food order was so messed up we just left and ask for check. They need to double up on wait staff. Awesome location if you want a view and have more patience then a Saint.
Went out for dinner wirh my 2 girlfriends. Very friendly and inviting atmosphere.
Customer service was superb.
We loved it so much, we stayef for dessert.
A definate return destination
The absolute gem of the strip mall. Enjoy the sight of the supercars displayed out front as your Honda gets hidden by valet. Make sure you are prepared to wait because Citron wants to foster the atmosphere of a 5 star restaurant even though they are right off the highway, in the middle of the most boring neighborhood...in Baltimore. Good luck calling for a reservation. Their phone number doesn't even work. Truly the most expensive mediocre experience around.
I was very excited to visit Citron again, especially on such a lovely occasion. However, there is a reason why reservations are made. I made a reservation at least three weeks in advance, l called three days prior to ensure all was well. I arrived on time, to be told that my location of choose for 8 people was given away, upon receiving my food, it was cold, and my husbands chicken was over cooked. Perhaps on a non-holiday things may have been different, however it was not worth my time or fustration. Please choose wisely..
From the valet to the servers.....excellent service! Food was remarkable, had crab cake that was to die for.. and the atmosphere was perfectly delightfully! If you are looking to treat yourself to a classy evening out... I definitely recommend!
Beautiful dining atmosphere, attentive server. But food was meh. Was there for lunch. Had the crab omelet (crab, spinach, cheese). Appeared to have been made in a pre-shaped pan as 2 of us ordered the same thing and they appeared identical in shape and thickness. Not a bad thing if they weren't overdone. The eggs were tough. I asked for blue cheese in the omelet, but it sure didn't come across as bleu. The bourbon chocolate cake was, with exception of the icing, without any discernable flavor. Don't think I'd go back, but maybe dinner choices are better.
Wow! I am perplex because Citron is usually a nice place for me to visit and I visit often. Moreover, I recently went to a dinner party there and the experience was absolutely disheartening. I am embarrassed, disappointed and hurt my food was cold and tasted horrible. One of the reasons the party was given was because of my ongoing good report about the restaurant, location and food. However the night of the party ending was extremely disappointing to me. If you decide the give a party please cross every T and dot every I have a system in place.
Always a good experience. Very good quality food and drinks. Excellent customer service. Top notch place
Food is not good and cold !!! Serves slow.... not worth the price... probably owner never had food business before, totally not up to standards... (if you need help please let me know)
