WHO: 20-something bibliophile, who worries about the future of brick-and-mortar bookstores
WHEN: Sunday afternoon, 1 hour before closing
WHY: to check off another DMV bookstore on my ever-shrinking list
THOUGHTS: Boy, that I'd've known about this place earlier! A unique breed of bookstore, this "warehouse" specializes in remainders, which I learned is simply overstock sold at reduced prices. I also was expecting more of a warehouse feel but was more pleasantly surprised at finding it to be regular retail. Thus, the products are new but cheap, and the bookstore doesn't have the sterilized feel of Barnes and Noble, nor is it the haphazard assortment of used bookstores, but a perfect middle point of the two. I like to buy books whose royalties support the authors (but which won't break my budget) , as I'm assuming these books do. The products are relevant and robust, and include many popular titles. Above all, the prices are very reasonable. I easily went around the store grabbing titles that caught my attention and still stayed below $80 come checkout. I'm not sure how often the store refreshes their inventory, but I'll definitely stop by the next time I'm thereabouts, to see what jewels I'll uncover. Didn't have much in the way of foreign language material, but understood why after learning about store operations. Quiet atmosphere (didn't even notice the lack of music), great fengshui, and helpful and inviting staff. Definitely recommend!
