Say NO to NOvant Health;

Say NO to NOvant Health;
I m usually a very calm, go with the flow individual, but I need to report how poor of an experience I have had with Novant Health s Urgent Care Facility:

I fell and broke my ankle. After calling my insurance, they found Novant Health s Urgent Care was the only Urgent Care facility open that evening that was in my network. They were open extended hours due to the extreme Flu issue.

After completing the paperwork, and confirming my insurance, I was brought for x-rays, and placed in a room for the Doctor. The doctor came in, advised that the radiologist was gone for the evening, and that I would be called the following day to get in to see the Orthopedic Dr. The doctor wrapped my ankle in Gauze, I was given crutches, and prescribed Hydro s, and sent on my way.

The next day, I waited until noon for the Orthopedic office to contact me, but no one did. I called, and was promptly told to be patient and someone will contact me. Again, no one contacted me. The next day, I called again, and was told all offices were busy because of the flu season, and that they will call me back to schedule an appointment!?!?

In excruciating pain, and worried about not knowing what was going on with my ankle, I called Wake Forest Baptist Health. They IMMEDIATELY advised me to come in and be treated because they didn t want to cause any additional damage or risk it healing incorrectly if it was in fact a break. While in the waiting room at WF Baptist Orthopedic s, Novant finally called to establish an appointment for the following week! I told the representative how upset I was about the lack of urgency and I wouldn t require any further assistance from Novant.

Wake Forest immediately ordered new X-Rays because the lab tech at Novant said that there was no indication of an issue with my ankle yet you could see clearly that there was. The X-Rays from Wake Forest proved that I had in fact broken my ankle. I was given an Air Cast and instructed on how to initiate my healing.

While recuperating at home, I was sent a bill from Novant for over $1,000 dollars, citing lack of insurance. After contacting Novant s billing department, I was told that it was in fact billed correctly and it was my issue and responsibility to have it corrected with my insurance company because they refused to pay it .

I called BCBS and they indicated that Novant both coded, and billed my care incorrectly. My insurance company called Novant directly and handled everything so I could relax and focus on healing .

I have since made a full recovery, and luckily didn t have to have any surgery or physical therapy. But what I learned from this experience is that I wouldn t even allow Novant Health to treat me for the common cold, let alone examine me for a physical.

Please read reviews and trust your instincts when it comes to your body and self, and say NO to NOvant Health. . .
