Overall we had a good stay (9/25-9/28/20). Taking into consideration all the restrictions and limitations imposed by overzealous politicians, the staff at the resort made our stay enjoyable.
A few notes:
Food: The menus at the two main dining rooms (The Main Dining room and the Stickney Chop House) were exactly the same all three nights and very limited. The quality of the food was well below the prices charged. The little coffee shop, Morsels, sold Peet's coffee, baked items and other snacks. This was a great option considering breakfast in the Main Dining Room would cost you $18 for a very basic 2 egg omelette.
Staff: The hotel was understaffed. A few conversations were had with staff in which they spoke about working multiple double shifts. Not sure if this was related to the time of year or Covid, but either way one could easily see the frustration in staff being responsible for more than normal.
Facility: This place is awesome! The history, the grounds, the decks, the stables, the views, it's great. Our room (deluxe queen after an unsolicited upgrade) was nice. The bed wasn't all that comfortable, many light fixtures in the room had burnt out light bulbs, spiders had been given free reign to build quite elaborate homes in the corners of the bathroom and it didn't look like anything other than the "high touch" areas had been dusted/cleaned in quite some time.
All this won't keep us from coming back. I'm chalking much of it up to trying to operate within ridiculous parameters set upon businesses by people far removed from the actual institutions they try to regulate.
