We arrived after a 5 hour drive on 12/30. The following summarizes our impressions:
Drive in - Spectacular
Check-in with valet - good, nice guy
Lobby - warm, lively
And then:
Registration - poor, no decent explanation of what we booked at $649 1st night, $885 2nd night, $599 3rd night.
And then,
after a little questioning of the Concierge and restaurant hostesses:
We discover the validity of our New Years Celebration Package? Not worth the paper it is written on; accompanied by lame explanations such as "All hotel restaurants are booked, but Sir, you are welcome to eat at our other restaurants ... Fabyans is a short drive from the hotel" My wife, a most affable person, is beginning to boil over.
Other impressions:
Staff - excellent, but I get the impression they are embarrassed by the mismanagement of this hotel
After some cajoling with a restaurant hostess at the supposedly overbooked Main dining room (many empty tables) we got a table
Food - very good, but wait staff overworked. Food came before drinks
Bars and staff - Good, they try hard

My main complaint- I booked a "New Years Celebration" package to only find out that once we arrived, all facilities were completely booked for New Years. In other words, the $885 "Deluxe King Room" (laughable) rate for Dec 31 including a New Years Eve Party and meals , might have been valid if you did not mind eating in the lobby or outside.

My wife and I have traveled the world extensively, and in my opinion, this hotel would not last one month in business at these rates, if it were in Europe or even the Rockies. If I come across another Omni affiliated hotel, I will avoid it like the plague.

However, Kudos to the manager who knocked off the package price to the regular room rate. We wish we would have stayed home this New Years.
