This was a lovely zoo, I thought it was great that in the Australia exhibit you could walk among the animals. There is a lot of interactive activities for kids. The only issue was the parking, there isn t much of it.
Loved it...didnt love the megga steep hills as have difficulty walking up hills as disabled. Loved monkey jungle. Loved chimpanse but need more stimulation.. loved seeing a kiwi
A great zoo with some fantastic animals. Sadly went at the wrong time and it was full of small children on play centre visits, so was quite noisy. Even so enjoyed my time there with my family.
The red pandas are a particular favourite and have a great viewing area.
Wellington zoo is the best place to entertain for kids and adults! the commute is super easy with frequent buses, entry fee is affordable, very neatly maintained, close view of all the animals and lots of places to rest or play! The staff are very friendly and helpful. Just follow the map and spend ...
Fantastic place to visit for kids of all ages and adults alike! Set atop a hill in Newtown the Wellington zoo is home to all sorts of animals. Zoo keepers have talks and feedings at different enclosures at seperate times which is great for kids to learn and ask questions. Recent (since I've been bac...
Did you know that Kiwis eggs are the biggest ones compared to their mother birds and Austriche eggs the smallest? Did you know that Kiwis have the smallest beak of all birds according to the definition (because beak size is measured as the distance between the nostrils and the tip of the beak)? All ...
I always go to the zoo but I had an amazing experience at Wellington Zoo! The staff members were very kind and taught me a lot about animals and protecting wildlife!
It's nice, not too big one.. Just for a walk kind of thing. Penguin, tiger, bear . Ticket for adult is $24. It's better to go in the morning time. I went during after noon , as the weather is hot, all the animals are sleeping and taking rest in shade. Chimpanzees will play in the morning .. Th...
Mum dad & teenage daughter decided to take a look at the zoo while staying in Wellington for cheerleading competition. We had a fantastic time got to see majority of animals & got some great pics & footage...a beautiful day weather wise which made it perfect! In site cafe for parents or children fee...
Amazing animals and place being first time at the zoo here, not many animals were available or were around to see them. Just wondering if the keepers hold shows or something with the animals? I feel like it needs to be more interesting to gain more people's attention mainly because the price for adu...
Need more animals but it's changed a lot and it looks so modern now. The chimps and the giraffes are the stars of the place. The place has been well looked after now and doesn't look tired anymore.
Enjoyable day wandering around, lovely zoo. Staff are friendly and helpful. Easy paths and viewing points, comps and giraffes beautiful, has an are where the public can mix with safe animals and birds. Enjoyed the day, can recommend an outing to you as a level 6 Google guide.
My 6 year old was really pleased after visiting zoo. Their neighbors section is really good, my boy was super excited and delightful after close encounter with Emu and ostrich . Staff was very cooperative allowed him to feed rabbits. One must carry snack and water walk on sunny day can be tiring for...
Have loved this place for ages. Great small zoo with a range of animals and a layout that means you won't miss anything. Always working to make the environment the best for animals. They are also serious about protecting the wild counterparts and educating people on how they can help.
Loved my experience - the animal talks are very helpful to bring the animals up close for viewing pleasure. Was amazed that we got to see three kiwis in their nocturnal exhibit!
Enjoyed my visit. Great information about all the exhibits and friendly helpful staff. Zoo is undergoing major changes to make the experience even better.
Great place to visit with kids. Have just bought a year pass so we can come and go whenever we want. Takes the stress out of having to go there for a big full on day to make the most of it.
It was fantastic to be there in the evening, seeing the animals at a later time of the day. Great idea to extend the hours on a Friday for a while. It was a fantastic way to end a work week.
Awesome for our 2-year old. Found the staff unwilling to tell us about the discounts on annual memberships. We had to ask several times and even when we showed them their own website, they still were hesitant! If you don't want to offer certain discounts, just remove them from your website.
Zoo is really well done. Don't expect a flat walk, however: you'll be up and down hills, but nothing too difficult. Great for kids. Parking can be a bit hard to find on busy days i.e. public holidays etc.
I was immediately struck here by how large and leafy many of the animal enclosures are at the zoo, which was nice to see. Like many Wellington attractions getting around involves walking steep hills ! I particularly enjoyed the big cat and red panda exhibits.
Long way to walk to some exhibits but fun to see all the animals. From all ages, places to sit and eat, the ice cream shop was nice to stop at on a hot day. All in all it was a great place.
Beautiful environment...natural settings. Was surprised at range of animals. There was no formal tour but the map handout listed "talks" by zoo keepers on an assortment of animals.
These talks coincided with feedings so you were sure to see the animal subject of the talk. Otherwise, in many comp...
We got there early just as it was opening on a week day. Parking just outside the door. Because we were early we got to see the lion eating right beside the viewing window.
Thoroughly enjoyed my trip to the zoo. It's over 20 years since l had been , and huge improvements. Would have got five starts but as some exhibits were empty for maintenance they only got four.
