Lovely staff and the gym is never crowded. The courses could be a bit more diversified though, for example there is very little yoga and weight training. But overall very good gym and spa area with hot tub, steam room, sauna, long pool to swim and fancy showers/ice machine. Complementary coffee is always good too!

Friendly, clean, modern. Sometimes a little too busy. Great classes, and lots of them.

My favourite Virgin Active gym in central London - although completely underground, it is huge! Many gym class areas, allowing for a very busy class schedule throughout the week. Several changing rooms for both men and women - very modern and clean. Staff are helpful, friendly. Love the running track around the gym.

Good, big gym. Clean, friendly and plenty workout opportunities for cardio and muscle building. Includes a pool. Classes are offered here as well.

Love this Virgin Active. Staff at the reception, cafe and gym floor are always friendly. The facilities are a labyrinth due to the way gym is laid out. I've been coming here regularly for a few months and still working it out. Two changing rooms, a running track, a good stretch area, a female only area are all great.

Pool is 25m but only two lanes meaning it will get uncomfortably busy at peak hours. I would look at informing swimmers about lane etiquette which can improve things.

I was constantly impressed by the quality of instructors here - spin, abs class, body pump, HIIT... always great energy and dedication.

Lastly, often overlooked, I'd like to point out the work of cleaning staff who clean non-stop and are also friendly. This makes the gym look neat at even the busiest times.

constantly too busy. There are only three squat racks that men can use and they are frequently all occupied, even at non peak times. Often the showers don't have any soap or shampoo left. The water in the second floor changing rooms is weak and doesn't go very hot. They increase the price every year despite it already being expensive. I witnessed a pretty unsavoury incident in the steam room (and reported it) and they did nothing about it. However most of the reception and cleaning staff (but not all) are generally friendly and helpful.

Nice running track in the gym. Slightly confusing lay out but seems like a good gym. I've only been a few timesmid afternoon - so can't comment on how it is at busier times e.g Monday 6pm onwards.

I've been a member at some pretty awful gym spaces in the past, but this one is pretty good as far as I'm concerned. Pretty crowded during peak hours as most gyms are, and could use a few more machines, ie: another incline bench, a seated overhead rack for shoulder presses, and a standing calve raise machine.

Incredibly overpriced for what you get! Not enough equipments - just 3 squat racks at a gym that caters to hundreds of people during peak hours! You can forget about overhead lifts if you're taller than 3ft 11inch. Fantastic gym if you judge a gym by the number of free towels you get

This was a great gym. Until today. It used to boast a beautiful set of high-end Eleiko kettelbells. Now these gorgeous, gritty kettlebells have been replaced with low-end, unprofessional gear: bells with slippery chrome handles and rubber coating with pimples. Yes, pimples. If you're interested in appearance and fancy machines, this gym is for you -- if you're serious about gear and results, move on.

The gym here is fine. It's just a bit tired and the ceiling is quite low making it difficult to through weight over head... but for most people I'm sure it does the job very well.

Rude and disrespectful gym goers here. Cheap people. Women find it uncomfortable to train here. Wouldn t recommend it as the staff don t do much about it when you complain.

Very nice and spacious gym. Not as nice as virgin strand which is more luxurious. Great if you want to run and swim. Pool is 25m

Nice gym. Lots of spaces for classes in the evening. Typically open longer than other gyms. The steam room is cold and not really working well most of the times. Often runs out of shower gel, hair conditioner, and body lotion. Shower has very little pressure.

After the lockdown, they forgot their business ethic , morality etc. It has been more than 2 months Barbican Virgin Active is closed and they don t hesitate to charge full fee from their members. When I tried to reach their customer service by phone, the last time I gave up on 47th waiting minute. They charged me 2 fully months for a service they didn t give me and their explanations by mail are hilarious: you can use the other gyms if you d like. Did you ask me that I have any intention to use your other branches? I paid for Barbican, Barbican branch is close to my home and I expect to use Barbican when I am paying for it. In society there are plenty of different names to call people takes your money unfair and not giving a service. You can use all of them for VirginActive too. There are much better and work ethic gym saloons around just check it.

Amazing. If only it was affordable for those who aren't bankers and brokers.

The most loveliest gym. Today I took a guest. So many gyms make it so difficult but the chap on the reception took her details so quickly and welcomed her in. We had the best time. If only I could remember his name to thank him properly. Thank you so much Virgin Active Barbican, you are SO what Virgin Active is all about x x x
