This library has a large selection of books to choose from. Many people come to this library everyday. Just as important, this library can be noisy at times.
I love this place because I go there just to check out some good things I whenever I can find and also it has the books sale store which is the friends of the library bookstore.
there's actually a peaceful library in town, folks. Great selection of sci fi books too!!
Love this place ever since I was a kid this place provided a great calm environment to write my papers.
Nice place to study or work quietly - be aware of the homeless/smelly vagrants walking around or using the bathrooms (which are usually filthy). Some nice views of campus if you know where to go.
Wonderful library, great for studying. Has quiet floors which are greatly appreciated.
They posted that library is open from 9-9 when I arrived at 5 pm it was closed
Today is Tuesday 12/26/2017
Nice library, but as others have noted, it is always full of homeless people and the bathrooms are filthy. The chairs at the computer terminals are mostly hard narrow little chairs with arms that larger people can't sit comfortably in. Shame, because it has a nice selection of books. I'd rather s...
Such a relaxing place with beautiful views of the city
Nasty librarians, snotty cafe workers, and brainless patrons, but GOOD custodians and law enforcement officers. Hey, San Jose State, why don't you use tuition money to give these hard-working library slaves of yours a raise RATHER THAN FATTENING YOUR OWN BUREAUCRATIC WALLETS?
Amazing collection of books and RECORDS. Stay away from the bathrooms though.
This place recharges my introverted soul. It s my favorite library. I would come here everyday if there were free parking. My favorite part is when it gets dark around 8 PM and the city lights come on, it s a nice view from the 8th floor (plus there s no one around by then so I get to enjoy the scen...
Sucks, use to be one of the best libraries I've visited... now it's just a storage box for books.
This place is massive, its literally a holy grail for bookworms, theres a lot of information to learn from here.
Good place to sit and work, beware of non patrons, who just come for shelter. Study rooms is a very good option for SJSU students. 6,7,8 floors are better than others as they are monitored by security personnel.
I find it odd that there are complaints about homeless people (among whom veterans and working taxpayers can be counted) being present at the public library. In this we see the complaint isn't really about homelessness (which is a problem I can't see too many people being engrossed in solving) but a...
Having worked in Libraries most of my working life, I really loved this building and its interior. The reading room was modern with computers everywhere
Clean, modernized and quiet, one of the great places to read books and work in San Jose. Although sometimes there are many homeless people. There is a bookstore in first floor called Friends bookstore , offering some nice second-hand book sale with good price.
The library was a perfect location for our nonprofit to give awards to San Jose leaders for protecting people's information. Candice, the event coordinator secured the room with less than 2 weeks' notice, and was very accessible and wonderful in communicating about logistics.
The Media office wa...
It's my favorite library it's really nice has great awesome books there just love it
A very organized library. Indian parents can find a lot of books of multiple Indian languages.
I wish there were more sitting areas and electricity outlets! It can get a bit hectic at times but overall a great place to get things done!
Terrible place to study because it is always filled with homeless and crazy people. They often use the library facilities to take showers using the faucet. I feel bad for the students of SJSU.
I think the city should come up with some kind of solution for the homeless/addict population so that they...
Amazing library and immense collection of books and other media. Many homeless people can be bothersome.
It is a good place, but the point is that there are too many homeless people, especially B1, first floor, second floor, and the third floor. It is really not good. and some of them have mental problems, scared.
Hands down one of the most beautiful buildings in SJ and also a great Library. Lucky I was able to attend SJSU.
I grew up with this library. With the remodeling it definite is more well lit for reading and studying!
Public library and University library come together. Every city should follow this model. They also have so much beautiful art peppered throughout. You could just do a tour of it!
Great Library but the study layout needs to be improved. More outlets and there's definitely room for more tables and chairs. The WiFi is unreliable and can be difficult to connect or keep a connection.
I don't want to write this review but today this homeless guy smells REALLY REALLY horrible. Man I'm cool with stinky stuff but this guy is way more off the chart stinky. The smell comes from him makes my eyes feel sore and dry.
MASSIVE library! Loved exploring the collections here! Staff was very friendly as well!
I love how during finals week, students have the privilege of staying here 24/7 to get some quiet time for studying. I LOVE IT!
I checked out 5 dvds with my library card which demagnitizes the alarm strip in the dvd so the alarm doesnt go off when you exit also got a reciept for dvds i checked out, well at the main library the alarm went off as i exit so i wait for the library police to check my list usually they are pleasan...
It is the worst library, They will send you courtesy reminder after 8 days of over due. that is not fair at all. Very bad
Best facility for students and others who want some quiet place to study and work.I love this place
Library is good and has good books. Kids books are very good, books are organised properly in the correct sections. There are books of different languages. If new berry award books are in one section, it will be easier to select the books that we need.
This is a shared library between San Jose State University and San Jose Public Library. It has a lot of materials, is open 7 days a week, and is open late. The library is well kept, has plenty of quiet areas to study in and have some great views in the higher floors. It is easily accessible to publi...
Library is confusing and not enough group meeting rooms. It should take down bunch of dumb uselesss stands and displays of all these minorities history that occupy so much space and make more something usefull like group meeting rooms. This is not a museum afterall but a place to study
I recently became a member of the libraries in San Jose. This one in particular is great. It's huge with multiple floors and has a little tully's cafe at the bottom floor. Tons of books, magazines, audio books, cds, etc and the staff is really helpful and nice. It's located in the downtown area thou...
Upper floors are quiet areas, very peaceful and ideal if you need place for studying. On the first floor there is enclosed area dedicated for kids and seems to be pretty clean and safe. You also have available public PCs with internet access and coin print stations. I usually avoid second and third ...
Gnarliest ginormous library I've ever seen with my own two eyes
Nice, little, quirky public library. The San Jose library is built-in on the SJSU campus so it was definitely a frequent visit for me. This library has 8 floors! Floors 6-8 are silent floors so it's actually quite peaceful.
It was a great place to get some work done, definitely quiet enough, and ...
Large central library, multiple floors, academic / downtown setting, helpful classes and activities offered, nice meeting rooms, large study tables, comfortable seating, security guards. I'm not bothered by homeless persons, college students, or even frugal bookworms and children at a library. Imho,...
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library is a awesome place were kids go and do all sort of things and its not just for kids people of all ages come and read books, they usually have at least one new contest for everyone every month!
Massive library but it feels like most people aren't there for the well library. The college kids and homeless are everywhere but the library itself is amazing.
Not much to tell.. I don't feel this library is associated in honoring the historic moment of the Politico evolution of civil rights that all man are created equal.. as part... I see this as a growth of sponsoring a name for inventory.. In false propaganda in business ethnics... Not that of human e...
Just look out hobos. And everything else are so nice.
The library of San Jose City and State University is open to the public and students. Remember to have a brief introduction to the public art collection, and there are some interesting spots in the library.
Very good place to study and get away from the noise... It dosent make sense to discriminate and complain about homless people who are trying to figure out how to make their life better while at the library. If they didnt care about their future they wouldnt be there!
The university and the community buy a shared library. Most of the students on the second and third floors will discuss their homework here. The scenery on the high floor near the window is good!
This is one of the best public libraries in the nation, with ample computer space, free wifi, and a great book collection. It's right across from the free Dash (201) bus to Caltrain, three blocks from light-rail, and surrounded by general bus routes which alleviates most of the downtown parking and ...
I would give it a ZERO if I could! I am an SJSU student and wanted to check out TWO books today. Apparently they only have one employee who could checkout SJSU books, so I waited for 5 minutes. That employee was very busy helping a woman. So i tried their self checkout counter, but it didn't work. I...
This place has always had homeless people they dont bother me because they come to read and go on the computers. Great place to study and get things done, been coming here since i was 10!
Unhygienic, insecure. Library for the studious and shelter for homeless.
The library is an impressive building with lots of titles. The stairs, marble, paintings, inviting rooms all take pictures, explore and adolescents a memory of many films that had like scene. For good measure, sails you buy something rich and go to lunch at San Jose, CA.
Hella students hack the system, and try to steal each others work sad.
Great place to find a good book/study. Only 4 stars due to the bum situation.
It is opened to the public, free expositions and a great book collection.
The convenience of a library is to be open to the public and not close down because of one room being occupied out off hundreds that are still available.
Check the lower floor with many very early plays and children's books. Many are not available for check out due to their frailty and rarity. Plenty of places to relax and enjoy the book. You can scan and email pages from the paper and microfiche offerings.
Silent and peaceful place for study. Definitely a huge collection of knowledge and wisdom
Book-lover's paradise. Efficient book keeping system. Great place to sit in and work. Spacious and airy.
Great library, fun to visit and great source of information. People are very nice and helpful. Can't beat this library even their book sales are wonderful.
Great writer/speaker today:Frank Weber
And Day of the dead display
This high tech facility is the look and feel of the future. The joint partnership between the City of San Jose and San Jose state university has created an excellent atmosphere for the researcher. The kid friendly and teenager area are just the thing for the young and young at heart
A library is a public place for all. Homelessness is a crisis. Homelessness is unequal; preventing homeless from using a public facility is unequal. Access to information must not be exclusive to people with homes. Students and residents that downgrade the library because of homeless populations are...
Great place for studying and working. Would recommend floor 6 for quiet room area. Lots of seating available. Closes at 6PM but they're open for students after hours.
Free wifi available and coffee shop on the first floor.
No free parking available. Park in the garage across the street or on t...
Having gotten my bachelor's and master's at Sjsu I've spent a ton of time at this library. So many resources and lots of fun features to explore. Avoid the lower floors if you are looking for quiet. There's eight of them though, the top 4 are for studying quietly or silently (on 7).
The library is amazing place. It s a perfect location, beautiful views and very peaceful. Also, we can study and work. There are a lots reference materials here.
I came here to pick up extra tags for the garbage day pickup. It took a while to find someone who knew what I was talking about but eventually I was helped by a very nice young woman. Got it, got out, got what I needed.
Nice and quite place to study back when I was in school.
It is a great place to study peacefully but I don t know why it s always so cold here.
Clean, beautiful, spacious library with no signs of homeless as other reviews have stated. I recommend everyone in the downtown SJ area sign up for a free library card.
LOVE the kids room at the library!
Events and activities in the kids room makes it enjoyable for the little ones to come to the library to read and have fun.
Spacious with lots seating areas. Computers for the little ones!! As well as blocks, toys, and a play kitchen set.
