A good spot for breakfast but make sure you either book or arrive early on a weekend as the view and position of Zimzala ensures it is ALWAYS busy on a Saturday / Sunday.
Food is usually quite good, with various options on the breakfast menu; but on busy periods they are enabled by management to refuse to make ANY changes to the menu, no matter how simple which is quite juvenile and confronting if not prepared for it.
My partner cannot eat some foods such as leafy green vegetables due to a rare allergy and at the time we went they refused to remove or substitute the spinach in one dish for something else. God help anyone with an anaphylactic allergy if they come here in a busy period.
Coffee is not great, being only a bog standard espresso di manfredi blend, but it is drinkable. If you want better coffee the barefoot beach bar next door has good toby's estate blend on offer and is always equally busy.
Service is usually okay, but I have found it to be lacking in how some staff speak to people, especially those whop don't have a booking (overheard conversations).
With both myself and my partner having worked in high level hospitality and customer service roles this made us feel quite uncomfortable to hear.
Best setting right beside Cronulla beach. Staff are lovely, happy, friendly people. The food is great and reasonably priced for where you are.
The food here is ok, a little pricey for what is served up. In the past the staff have been ok, but for my last visit, the waiter had what I can only describe as a 'David Jones shop assistant' attitude of looking down one's nose with the over inflated sense of self-worth. Food ok, prices a little high and service a mixed bag.
Ate very well, the fish is very good, salmon, squid and prawns, the staff is friendly and professional. The view is gorgeous. It is not expensive.
It is really worth it.
THANK YOU JANA FOR AN INCREDIBLE NIGHT,,, THE NELSONS AND CROSSWELLS REUNION AFTER 70 YEARS LOST!!
Great breakfast with the family and dogs . Great place for a long breakfast over looking cronulla beach and the point
Good food. great spot. Good service and fair pricing. Make a point of having breakfast or just coffee there when we are in Cronulla.
Very nice location i wish there would be more place like this one
I haven't had good, fresh and amazing seafood like in this place before. The seafood platter is a must have. Just go.
The food was a little pricey, but sort of to be expected with the view. It is right on the beachfront, a really great location.
The food took a little bit to come out, but the service was great, and all the staff was really lovely.
Really great food and coffee, will definitely come back here again. Definitely a great spot to grab a drink and bite to eat.
Back again for another chance with a friend. Nothing has changed. Poor coffee. Burnt and luke warm. I don't think they preheat the cups Unreasonable staff. Was just after a quick coffee @ 3:30. Was not allowed to sit @ the bay windows as they we prep. for dinner. Back again on the 26/5/18 for breaky and a coffee. Food much better, staff much more attentive to needs, staff very pleasant. I ll raise the rating from two to four for this occasion.
Always the best of everything at Zimzalas - service, staff, menu, location ! thanks for a fabulous lunch on Sunday 14 Oct
The location and view are excellent. However we were bitterly disappointed with the food, service and response from management to the complaint I raised.
Ordered a smashed avocado on toast with poached eggs and side of scrambled eggs. The poached eggs were well overdone and not runny like stones. Scrambled eggs dry and not silky like they should be. When you're paying $21 for avocado toast and eggs you expect it to be done properly. We sent the food back via the waiter who seemed to identify straight away the eggs were overdone and to speak to Ray the manager on the way out.
When we approached the till he didn't ask anything about the food and just processed the full bill of $40 without question. I had to mention the waiter had said just to fix up the coffees as we hadn't eaten any of our food. The manager then proceeded to say to me he saw the eggs and there were still runny bits in it and "they were fine". He asked if we had the requested the poached eggs runny - I'm not sure where you need to ask for this as this is how they should come.
Manager proceeded to argue with me about the food and offered to pay 1/2 the bill. We paid $20 for 2 coffees and half a smoothie as the food was hardly touched.
Adding to this they have baby high chairs with no seat belts. We couldn't restrain our 15 month old which surely has to be a safety risk. I'm yet to go to any restaurant where seat belts have been removed from the chairs. When I asked about this I was told that people hardly use them and they've had kids get tangled in them - I find this hard to believe, but he also said others have complained they are missing at the same time.
I won't rush back.
Great location overlooking the water. Delicious food and incredibly helpful staff. A must if you're in the area.
One of the truly great spots for early morning coffee, could be anywhere in the world
Not bad, nothing to complain about, but not the best value for money. Food good but prices represent the cost of the location.
Delicious food. Very good cooked. We will come back for sure.
The best location!
We had dinner and all the staff are fab. Prompt service, lovely food and nothing negative to say! We had 4 different mains and shared a dessert, and we were more than satisfied!
Will definitely be bringing out of town friends back here!
Average cafe food, great views though. Probably wouldn't go back you can get much better food elsewhere.
Absolutely dreadful service. Food was ok but overpriced. Will not be going back.
A nice little restaurant, services was good. The restaurant is clean. Food was nicely presented. Coffee ... average.
Food is good. Service is excellent. However, dont get the coupon, as I bought for 4 people valued up to $350 for more than $170. Problem is I only can order from a set menu, which offers far less than the normal menu. No matter how I add up, the value would not go beyond $170 !!!
Had dinner with my wife, daughter and son-in-law, it was a Groupon deal. The review is mainly based on my meal. It was a set meal, entree of bread and a dip, choice of a main, rhubarb and apple crumble for dessert or a cheese platter. Included in the deal was a bottle of wine per couple. We all enjoyed the meal and thought it was good value. My only criticism s are that the Merlot was quite warm, we asked for a ice bucket to cool it, my medium rare steak was slightly over cooked and the entree dip was a bit bland. The staff were very polite and social distancing was observed for the area where we were seated.
The pork belly is a must, allowing dogs for lunch outdoors is also a plus!!
On the expensive side but the food, service & ocean outlook was great. ($350/4ppl)
Great location across from the beach. Good food and coffee. Open from 6am. Policy of no bill splitting the only downside
Yes! Excellent food. Excellent service! Admittadly, a little less formal is okay with me!
EXCELLENT, COULDN'T FAULT, WILL BE COMING REGULARLY.
Best brekky spot in Sydney. Service is insanely good.
Beach front restaurant with friendly and helpful staff. Worth visiting.
Breakfast was brilliant but too much food. coffee was great too
One of favorite restaurants in the world. Beautiful food and views.
You would never guess you are having a cup of coffee if you had a blind tasting. But hey, it is a nice location and there will be plenty of people even if they would start serving cold tap water with milk froth. On good points, the service was fine and food was okay too.
Amazing venue and even better view. Perfect for breakfast or an afternoon drink and food. Will not disappoint!
Excellent food with an abundance of Gluten Free options, though service was a bit slow. This may have been due to the number of large groups, including our own.
Still saw dogs in there today.Still too crowded and noisy and hot not a pleasant experience at all the only saving grace the staff are very very good but still come and get the bill right
The food is always amazing, generous portions and the friendly staff are very accommodating. We just enjoyed breakfast for mother s day and although it was very busy, we were well looked after!
Greeat feed. Good location. Friendly and attentive staff
A simple chicken burger should be easy - but cold chips, dry bun, over cooked chicken and a hard egg ! Not at this price thanks ?
Haloumi salad with too much tomato, onion, no grean leaves and lots of feta too !
Won't be returning.
Just top class in every way. Incredible service, beautiful food and a location that is just perfect.
A beautiful location food is amazing! !! Coffee is also #amazing!
We always love this place but had a particularly good waitress which made our experience fantastic!
Had an amazing birthday celebration here last Saturday. The food, the staff and the whole experience was perfect! The whole experience was incredible! Can t wait to dine here again.
Terrible customer service and Attitude of that male waiter
I went for lunch with my coworkers and we did book table in advance.Once we reached there they took a while to give us menu we did took 10 minutes to choose from menu as we were group of 8 people.
Once we order everything we were chatting having fun waiting for our food after 30 minutes we got our drinks and after 5 minutes we got just only one of our starters and we were still having good time but after that it took ages to get our other starters and mains. We waited for more than 1 hour after we got our only one starter. When one of my coworkers asked male waiter how long it s going to take in a fun way but he replied in a very rude way saying that he was not sure that if he is in a mood to joke as he was really busy we could not believe how much attitude he had. After all these we waited patiently for our food and finally we got our other starters and one of my coworkers asked how long it s going to bring out the mains as he was leaving early for meeting and he again replied saying that we should have told him in advance if he was leaving early and start laughing like stupid. That was awful and one of our coworkers left. We had no idea that we had to wait 2 hrs just to get average food. What a nightmare!!!!!!!!!
Our team would have wait patiently if he was not rude but the way he replied was terrible . If he is sick of his job he should leave the job or go on vacation and He definitely need to change his attitude.
I would never ever go back again and never recommend anyone.
Waste of time and money.
Service, Food, Desserts everything was excellent. Highly recommended.
Always enjoy the restaurant. Mindful of my sodium issue and the staff are very professional and personable. Thanks guys. Sometimes their phone bookings need attention.
Beautiful fine dining. Great food and a great view aswell as lovely customer service
Great locality service first class and some of the best coffee I've tasted
Booked a table for breakfast well in advance (using a Groupon voucher) and when I arrived, I was greeted with "oh we are not doing the voucher during school holidays because it gets EXTREMELY BUSY, but I will take you today alright !!" I was infuriated with their approach, and they had less than three table occupied for the whole time when we were dining. MOREOVER, not everyone in this world knows when school holidays fall; particularly if they don't have kids and they didn't do their schooling in Australia
The quality of food and Coffee was poorer than those served in a mediocre food kiosk. They were anxious to take order and the food was delivered to the table within 5 minutes of order, it was obvious that they wanted us to eat and LEAVE!! It seems to me that the staff have completely misunderstood the concept of why people visit places like Cafe. I was there to have a good time; not just to EAT and solve my hunger issues.
Anyway, the service was a total turn down. I was trying to find a cafe around Cronulla where I could go for coffee and breakfasts regularly. It's such a shame that businesses these days are not that keen towards longer term customer relationships.
Wonderful wonderful wonderful place. Magical location. Brilliant service and food. Highly recommended
Our first time at Zimzala and it won't be our last. The food and the service was exceptional. Oysters and mussells were fresh and the steak and pork belly cooked to perfection.
Nice location, service OK, food dissapointing and not worth the money. By the time you order entree s, your mains and add sides then a couple of glasses of wine your looking at close to $100pp.
Came here on a Groupon and had not only amazing food but really great service.
We will certainly be back
Excellent food with good sized portions.waiters very pleasant.great location.
We went during their renovations and it was hard at times to hear others at the table. The food was nice but a little overpriced for what you get, but I guess you also pay for the location.
Had a birthday celebration for lunch hurried to order .The view maybe fantastic .The food wasn t very disappointed.
Great atmosphere and view. Staff are kind and helpful.
Had the pancakes - delicious
Also had the fruit salad - delicious, but they left the skins on the kiwi fruit and the ends on the strawberries - but of a downside when served without a knife.
Nothing but good coming from Zimzala Restaurant! Had a thousand coffees there and a mountain of food over time! Always a great dining experience and the location is the best in Cronulla...
My husband and 1 year old son came here for lunch one Sunday. We were greated by a lovely young waitress. She showed us a table and said she would bring some table water while we looked at the menu, she even got us a high chair for our son. She came back, took our drink orders and left us to decide on food. The owner then came over and told us we had to leave immediately as said This table is reserved, you can t just walk into the restaurant as you please . I proceeded to tell him we were sat by a waitress and had part of our order taken. He then told us she would have a stern talking to and we had to leave . There were about 5 or so empty tables that I asked to move to and he said the whole restaurant is reserved!! I found this very unbelievable and told him how disappointed we were at the service and got up to leave. He continued to argue with us as we walked out of the restaurant even though we were doing as he asked. By this point there was no way I wanted to stay here anyway. I told him we would not be back and he said well if that s how you feel that may be best . We then bumped into a friend and the front on the foot path and chatted for about 20 mins. Nobody sat at the table we were at, nor any of the other tables. The owner of this restaurant is extremely rude, I feel sorry for the waitstaff here. I have heard similar stories from other customers. I will not be returning here and will be telling others not to either!
Great restaurant, amazing few, fantastic food. Highly recommend!!
Very nice fine dining. Good selection of boutique beers, and amazing deserts. I usually go the fish for the main course, and skip entre in preference for one of their amazing deserts. I have taken a few of my girlfriends here. If you want to impress them its a good choice.
One of my favourite cronulla restaurants. It's right on the beach with a lovely open air vibe. Food and service are consistently good
The management here are too complacent. We arrived just as breakfast finished so we ordered lunch......45 minutes later and asking why. Apparently we came at the changeover and the meal takes more time. Poor excuse for a paying customer. The waitress talked nonstop trying to validate it all. Never going back. Overpriced and overrated. The view exceptional that's all this restaurant offers.
Nice location. Charming staff. Reasonable coffee. Well run
