Beautiful view, ok table service however let down by poor lunch menu. Please include simple, fresh, delicious healthy options to match such a beautiful location. Forget the chips and introduce smart unforgettable bites people come back for and not just for the view. Yes, you do have lobster and mixed seafood but at $150 you can't do that too often.

An old girlfriend took me here for dinner recently . I was super impressed with the standard of food especially the sea food . Also have a great selection of boutique beer and nice wines
Terrible customer service. My friend and I were waiting for takeaways coffees more than 15 mins and they also do not allow us to cancel and refund orders. Their boss just kept saying us to be patient.
Went for breakfast on a Saturday morning and ,not one to complain ,we sat there for 50 mins along the bench right at the kitchen watching others come in and get their meals before us while we waited and waited until finally a staff member must of realised we hadn t got our breakfast yet and checked and found our order hadn t been processed and did something. Not in a hurry to go back.
Really disappointing, as we go for brunch regularly and it's pretty good. We had dinner here recently and the service was sub-par, the cocktails we ordered at the beginning of the meal didn't come out until after entrees, and the food was mediocre at best. Won't be going for dinner again.
Average food and really bad customer service. Staff were not friendly and made our very special celebration end on a sour note. I wouldn't recommend this place.
Vege lasagne obviously re-heated was cold on the bottom (out of the fridge cold) and half the top layer was rock hard. Really poor for $29. Most of the menu is overpriced.
We enjoyed a very lovely lunch on a stormy day - had great views of the surf crashing into the rocks from our window seat.
The waitress was absolutely lovely and took care of our every need, all with a smile. The food was delicious, couldn't fault a thing. We enjoyed the seafood tasting for 2 as entree, eye fillet steak and prawns with angel hair pasta for mains, and a choc & hazelnut tart and coconut pavlova for dessert. Even the kids meal kept the kids happy.
Menu looks great but food just average and overpriced. Staff very slow and not focused. Had to wait for our drinks for 40 min. Cocktails are awful. There are much better places around. Won t be back again.
We began with a great coffee, but that was where the greatness stopped. We got our breakfast which was missing a few things that we ordered, which came later after we notified them of the errors. To top it off four out of four poached eggs were rock hard. We ended up getting a second breakfast up the road. Two stars for great coffee.
Shocking service!!! I still can t believe the way I was treated! Never ever have I received more appalling service!! I never write bad reviews but this experience was so outrageous that it needs to be given a review. It was an extremely hot day and, as we walked into Zimzala, I felt physically ill because of the heat. When we sat down, I asked our waiter if we could first get a bottle of cold water because I felt like I was going to pass out. The waiter acknowledged my request and proceeded to talk about food, so I asked him again if he could just get us some water first because I wasn t feeling well. The waiter came back with lukewarm water and said he would get us ice. Except he didn t. The restaurant was half empty as it was still early for lunch, so he just stood further from our table leaning against the wall and then talked to customers at the other table and started taking group photos for them. I drank the warm water the waiter had brought, but wasn t feeling any better. I began hyperventilating and felt like I was burning inside, so I went to the counter to ask someone else for ice. I saw the owner and asked him if I could get a glass filled with ice, but he walked past me and told me to go back to my table and wait for my waiter. I wanted to explain that I was not feeling well and would just appreciate if I could get some ice first, but the owner kept walking and with his back to me, started talking over me in a raised, very rude and abrupt tone and gave me a lesson on how I was not the only customer, how I needed to be patient, sit at my table and to relax!! Instead of being assisted, I got spoken down to, sent off to my table like a naughty child, lectured about patience and told to relax! I said that I was happy to wait for food, just needed some ice first, and that I wasn t asking for much, but I was interrupted again and got told off again in even more raised voice. We decided we could not tolerate such a poor treartment and stood up to leave. This is when the owner came to confront us, asked for our names and started yelling that he didn t want to see us again and to never come back! When I said that I indeed would never come back, he yelled at us: Even that is too soon !! The only good thing was that, just before we left, the waiter had finally brought us a glass filled with ice so I had my cold water and felt a bit better! Needless to say, we went to a different restaurant (Giro Osteria) where a waiter greeted us with a bottle of cold water and ice (without being asked) and kept refiling both (also without being asked). Plain common sense on a scorching day!! The food and service at Giro Osteria was impeccable as always!
Their oysters are very bad. Roughly opened. So they were filled with little pieces from the shell. Also it took 1 hour for our meal to arrive. And we got charged 15% surcharge for it being a holiday. Which is fine. But our meal was awful.
We didn't grab food here and instead just got drinks. Prices were about what you would expect and the Pash Dash was tasty. We sat outside and looked out at the ocean. They did cram quite a few tables outside so as long as you are prepared for that you should be good.
Great location, friendly and very helpful staff. We had a light lunch of toasted sourdough bread with a portion of chilli prawns and a dish of mozzarella and tomato. All perfectly cooked and presented. Washed down with a glass of Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon and copious tap water. They even rustled up a portion of nicely cooked chips when an unexpected guest turned up to join us. Thoroughly recommended.
Very poor overall and VERY VERY EXPANSIVE. The only good thing is the view but you can enjoy the same view from the esplanade eating fish and chips! The waiting was ridiculous and the noise was ridiculous too!
Best breakfast location for this kinda $$. 10m to the water line. Great view, great staff, good breakfast options for medium $. I take all my of of town guests here for brunch & have been a regular Friday morning guest for 7 years. Don't tell anyone else. Keep it a special secret.
Entree meals delish, however my main course of Moroccan Couscous was so disappointing - it was inedible. Waitress was not imoressed with my feedback however we found out when settling the billI that they had removed the cost of the meal. Took friends there from Singapore for the fantastic location, however today's experience wasn't the best one
Very pleasant. Middle of the road cuisine and priced accordingly. A view to die for. Service not pressured. My fish pie was full of prawns, white fish and salmon. My friend had prawn linguine and she said it was lovely. Thank you. This is the second time I have lunched at Zimzala in seven days. My Tassie Scallops were lovely last time. And pannacotta for dessert was very pleasant. Coffee good too.
Upon our late arrival for breakfast, soo much catching up to talk about, my daughter and i were greeted with " Hello, we were waiting for you, we've kept the kitchen open for you" we were late for breakfast. Seated at the table with magnificent ocean views (there are no bad views) enjoyed a generous eggs benedict 1 gluten free ham and poached eggs and one smoked salmon served on generous sized slices of toast with sauteed spinach perfectly poached eggs, on a bed of rocket. Large flat white and a long black. Perfect. relaxed and enjoyed catching up a long stay talking for ages. No rushing us out the door. Great service and a wonderful morning / lunch experience could of had something sweet on option but couldnt fit it in. Reasonably priced considering. Highly recommended. thank you to Michelle who took care of us.
Lovely birthday lunch had today with my wife...fabulous and helpful staff, the seafood pie was very tasty and generous in size, but the best part was the amazing views! Thank you again! Will be back for sure...:)
November 2019. Had a terrific 10 course dinner here with my wife. They really went above expectations to cater to my personal diet issue - Celiac - gluten intolerance. Only two components they delivered weren't able to be gluten but that was fine with me. My wife and I agreed that every course was super delicious and the speed of service and course delivery was perfect even though they had a totally full restaurant. Very happy. Highly recommended
Came for a Saturday breakfast + was not disappointed. We were able to get a table with a beautiful view of Cronulla beach. It was busy but not over crowded and the staff were super friendly + quick with the service.
The prices were reasonable for the amount of food you get. I had the eggs Benedict + my partner had the big breakfast and we both really enjoyed our meals. I would recommend coming here for small groups, couples or even by yourself, there s an option to sit at a bench that gives you the best views, you just need to watch out for the sun!
Ordered the seafood plate and was disappointed for the price I paid the value wasn't there. On my second visit was told that if we had a group of more than 6 we couldn't BYO this doesn't make sense if we just separate the tables and have two bookings we can bring wine?
You know your not satisfied when everyone has to go to Oporto on the way home. Good food. Expensive. Great three courses kids and parents hunger exists still Teeny tiny servings. Even with three courses eaten
The owner of this restaurant would make Basil Fawlty proud with his arrogance & rudeness. We had to send back a meal because it was way too salty (everyone at the table tasted it & agreed) but he still expected us to pay for it & it's replacement dish! I asked how he could possibly expect us to pay for a dish we couldn't eat & he said because in his opinion the dish was fine & in his restaurant the customer was not always right - yes, he actually did say that! When I refused to pay anything until he removed it from the bill, he turned even nastier & told me to just hurry up with it & get out, he didn't need "my kind" in his restaurant. I have never been treated like this in a restaurant, this man is a pig. I posted my experience on Facebook & have been innundated with comments with similar stories to tell about the service there. They should change the name of the restaurant from Zimzala to "Like It Or Lump It"
We arrived and the man at the door didn t even greet us with any respect. We kindly asked if they served breakfast and were rudely told no, and that we didn t have a booking. We were not welcomed and no manners were exchanged. Their poor customer service has deterred me from ever going there again. Service = 0.
The food was absolutely amazing it was fresh and tasty and very enjoyable. The decor was very nice and fresh. The servicee was great and they would always ask if I needed anything.
Great for dinner and lovely view being by the water. Helpful staff. lots of options and caters for gluten free. Not cheap but not the most expensive in the area ($35 for a main, $60-65 pp for a main, drink and dessert).
Never a disappointment or wrong step at Zimzala s! Such a wonderful venue for a simple coffee and cake to a magnificent special lunch or dinner. My all time favourite Shire restaurant
Booked early in the week for a nice saturday night to celebrate a valentines dinner with my wife and to have a seat against the window. We arrived and was seated against the wall and the staff member stated we had to be out by 8am ???? only a hour & a half to finish dinner. ( not empressed as this was not mentioned at the booking ) and placed on a wall seat. The night didnt start well !. We ordered a beer & a cocktail first .Then ordered the angel hair pasta & rack of lamb & a side of chips with rosemary, sea salt & truffle oil. You would exspect a rack of lamb as stated. you get is 1 bit of lamb on the bone a 1 portion of lamb underneath. ( not what is stated as a rack of lamb on the menu ). The angel hair pasta with fresh seafood was very over cooked. the pasta tasted burnt & seafood very chewy. the chips came out cold & with a aioli sauce with a glimpse of rosemary ( not what was stated on the menu). Overall all exsperience . I would not recommend this restuarant for a nice dinner. I pass this restuarant nearly every day as i go for a surf. I was embaressed to take my wife hear because of the food and going to the effort of organising a great window seat and the staff just blew it off. I had stated when i paid the bill that it was the worst meal i have had & would not come back. Dissapointing when you are a local of the area.
I have been many other times before, but last night I went to celebrate my engagement dinner with my fiance and our families. Dinner was amazing, the service was good and the views are spectacular. I totally recommend this place.
Service was quick, friendly and attentive. Food was fabulous. They managed to fit us in an a very busy night without any hassle. Would love to go back!
