I came here with one expectation, that Zehnder s would live up to the reviews it received. When my husband and I arrived the first menu we received did not match the menu posted outside. So for you first time visitors there is a SECOND lunch menu. I expected my meal to be hot when it is served. However, once our food arrived it was cold. I ordered the chicken Parmesan with egg noodles, not only was the cheese stiff but the breaded chicken was soggy. Needless to say after leaving the restaurant I felt nauseous. My husband and I agree that the food we were served on deployment was much better than what we had at Zehnder s. This will be a first and a last trip here. Can t remember a meal this bad.

This place is really impressive on several levels! The chicken dinner is wonderful. Everything is very good, every course from the chicken noodle soup to the cranberry relish, breads and coleslaw were all just perfectly done. The waitress was very attentive and we never felt abandoned, which is very impressive because the restaurant is absolutely huge. I am uncertain about the capacity of the place but it must seat close to a thousand guests at anytime given the several large dining rooms. The general atmosphere is very busy, with lots of conversation and such. So, I can't describe it as intimate. If you leave here hungry, it's your own fault. It was just past the lunch hour when we visited and still quite busy, but we were seated very quickly. Just a stellar experience. A great place for a memorable family gathering! LOOKING FORWARD TO RETURNING TO ZENDERS AGAIN SOON!!!!!!

I love the Z Cafe! Only complaint about today's visit is the toughness of the brisket. My husband could not even eat it. That is how tough it was. I could not even pull it apart. He was able to swap it out for some chicken.

Of all the places we go Zehnder's is one of our top favorites. Every year we look forward to visiting. They have an amazing chicken dinner served family style with all the fixings. Chicken noodle soup, breads + butter, coleslaw, a few seasonal dishes, mashed potatoes and I'm sure I'm forgetting a thing or two they really give you a lot. Oh and did I mention it's all you can eat! I have enjoyed Zehnder's since I was young and now enjoy it even more taking my own family. Every experience is different but so familiar to what I remember as a kid. While visiting you can also stay, shop, eat and splash all day long with their world famous, flagship restaurant, championship golf course The Fortress, their unique shopping experience Zehnder's Marketplace (under Zehnder's Restaurant) and spend time in Michigan's largest indoor waterpark Zehnder's Splash Village Hotel and Indoor waterpark. There is so much to see and do, you and all of the family will have a ton of fun in this Bavarian themed village of Frankenmuth, Michigan.

Great food. We had a strange experience today. Decided to treat ourselves and eat in the main dinning room. Checked in with the front hostess. Then was led through the beautiful (empty) main dinning room, down the back stairway to the basement, through a coat area, and down the hallway. We finally arrived at our back wall table. We quickly changed our minds and ate at the Z-cafe. Same great chicken and fixings. We both ate for the cost of one upstairs......or downstairs.

I had heard such great things about this place. We came up for a day to check It out. Drove about 6 hours to get there. Everyone told me, you HAVE to get a chicken dinner from Zehnder s. I will say the appetizer round was PHENOMENAL! They should offer just that as an option. But when the actual dinner came, it all went away. All four of us after taking their first bite of chicken were pretty much done at that point. The batter/breading was disgusting and the chicken was as dry as the Sahara, whether it was dark or white. The chicken seasoning on the table offered a little assistance, but not really. We were extremely disappointed, especially considering the price of the meal. All four of us were expecting this amazing main course, but honestly you can go to literally ANY OTHER PLACE and get better chicken. The only reason it gets 2 stars is the rest of the meal and the waitress. That part was awesome. But this world famous chicken is in our opinion the worlds worst fried chicken. I can appreciate those who enjoy it, but out of our 4, it was a complete disaster.

I was not at Zehnders, but across the street at the Bavarian Restaurant and Fisher Platz. Spent tome listening to the lovely and talented Linda Lee, then had chicken dinner outdoors at Michigan On Main restaurant, which is part of the Bavarian Restaurant. Good food and good time!

We had the family style chicken dinner and the chicken was raw. By the time we discovered it was unfit to eat, our son was sick and my wife ( who was pregnant with our daughter ) ended up in the hospital. If she had lost the baby we would have sued Zehnder's. Don't believe the Barvarian Inn is any better because it is the same family running both places.

A nice stop on your way up north or a short trip on its own to get away for a few hours or two days. Frankenmuth and Zehnder's are a favorite for good reason, try more than the chicken (the schnitzel is particularly good with German beer).

Absolutely love this place. We go once a year and it never gets old. The food is great and the people are so friendly and happy. This is an excellent family destination and we enjoy every time we go.

Been here more times than I'd like to admit. It never lives up to the "World Famous" hype, just an overpriced tourist trap, better to get KFC and play a YouTube video of German historical buildings for background ambiounce. They are riding Bronners coat tails.

You can't beat the chicken dinner with all the side dishes! The only problem is that it's gotten way overpriced. The chicken is good but not great. The side dishes guarantee that you'll be stuffed when you finish. Many of them are delicious and will remind you of your childhood especially the buttered noodles. Definitely a great place to go when you're celebrating an event and spending time with family and friends!

Went on oktoberfest and the line was out of this world. 1hour and 30 minjtes standing waiting. Once you get seated everything is fine. Food was really good, I had the buffet, but it is pretty heavy.

Wife and I visited a few friends right before Christmas 14' in Frankenmuth and all decided to hit Zehnders. Again, was not let down with their chicken dinners, didn't know that both families were married and now serve pretty much the same menu's. Would visit again next year.

Ideally located in Frankenmuth, this restaurant is surrounded by picturesque shops along a river. The food here is fantastic from there mouth-watering breaded chicken to the smooth and creamy mashed potatoes to a delectable slightly sweet coleslaw. On Sundays, when they have a buffet option, there is an amazing variety and all of it smells and tastes delicious. I really enjoy their orange sherbert, too! In the basement they have a series of shops with something for everyone. Across the street is their "twin:" Bavarian Inn, which also has more shops downstairs, too! Overall, I would say this is a very fine dining experience for business or pleasure with an atmosphere ranging from elegant to fairly casual depending on which room you are seated in. The service has always been fantastic and I keep going back year after year!

We absolutely love Zehnders, the food is delicious and the staff is so welcoming. The restrooms are clean and the store underneath has some delicious baked goods, and cute souvenirs or gifts for people of all ages. Wine selection is also really good.

We had a reservation during snow fest and it was an hour wait. We walked and waited. Note, I so have my service dog with me, he is in a stroller due to not being able to walk cause he s recovering from his 4th out of 5 leg surgeries. The girl called our party and asked me if he could come out of stroller and I replied he couldn t cause he can t walk or stand yet. She then said she would have to find us a different table, another 10 minute wait. After we are seated and waitress took our drink orders a man came to us and said my service dog had to be under the table. I explained he couldn t come out of stroller and he still insisted he be under the table like he s ashamed of my dog. He has to be near my side for my PTSD, he can t do his job under the table. So we had to leave. Thankfully, the restaurant across the street, Bavarian Inn was compassionate enough to allow my service dog to be next to me at our table, not underneath it.
