Zehnder's, while a bit pricey, offers much more than "World Famous Chicken" dinners which I find to be like grandma's chicken - everything is from scratch cooking. They offer a varied menu with seasonal specialties, a lovely old building with a unique atmosphere which is rich in history and exceptional service. Servers are dressed in colonial outfits - male servers wear knickers! The lower level has a few shops offering unique clothing, jewelry and things for the home and an extensive bakery.
They give you a packet of coupons which you can use at various shops in town, their bakery, and the packet includes a free ornament at Bonners.
While I would not eat at Zehnder's everyday, it is a nice place to eat - It is not fast food - plan on being there an hour at least. You never leave here hungry. Join their birthday club and get one free dinner on your next birthday in the month of your birthday.

Absolutely amazing. Love the chicken dinners here. Have been visiting for years and never disappointed. If you are ever on the same planet as Zehnders, it s a must visit. So, so tasty. Sorry no photos of the dining room, was too busy eating!

Food is under average if you compare it to German food (in reality) but if you never went to Germany might be ok.

Went here for my Birthday dinner. Sign up and every year in the month of your birthday you get a free dinner. You get a whole lot of food with each order and the service and the atmosphere is good. However, I must say that the chicken is not like it used to be. I don't think they use many spices and it is very Bland tasting. I also feel that the prices for the chicken dinners are getting way out of hand.

I was very unimpressed with the chicken. Everyone at our table received dry chicken. You would think that if your known for chicken it should be the best. Doubt that I would ever go back.

Excellent food and service. The early American themed atmosphere is warm and inviting. I recommend this restaurant for anyone visiting Frankenmuth.

One of the best years at Frankenmuth. Food and service was great. The visit to Bonners and Santa first was epic.

My wife and I went there for a dinner before the 10:00 pm firework on July 3rd. A very nice place and the the services are wonderful and we have the famous all you can chicken dinner with all the the fixing. The foods are so fresh and delicious and we have a wonderful experience.

We enjoy Zehnders quite a bit. Family atmosphere, clean and friendly staff. My wife and I have our birthdays in the month of June. As Zehnders Reward Members, we both enjoy a free Family Style chicken dinner.....does not include beverages. It's worth checking into, as there other discount offers for Rewards Members.

We always make a point to visit the bakery in the lower level. There is also dining in the lower level , along with a nice gift shop.

Food was decent. It could have been less bland and dry. Service was good overall, but did not care for the atmosphere very much.

Awesome food and treats, but WATCH OUT, social distancing does not happen and alot of people not wearing masks!!

They are very generous in their portons of food & the chicken is out of this world & The staff is always friendly!

Good food and efficient servers. Choose the buffet or order right off the menu. All you can eat chicken has appetizers included.

The food is pretty bland and boring. Expensive, but a gorgeous building.

Love the chicken and the atmosphere. Family style meals are great, but cafeteria style downstairs also good and saves time and money. I go here every time I visit Frankenmuth.

You come to Zehnder's for the chicken...period. Family style serving brings out the glutton in all of us and it's super easy with delicious chicken and sides that are available at Zehnder's. It gets to be a little bit of a fight as to what side of Main Street we eat on, but regardless the food is always fantastic. Keep up the great work!!

The atmosphere is fantastic! Everyone was in a good mood, and the Christmas spirit seemed to be floating around.

Had the traditional chicken dinner and walked the shops. I bought a bottle of wine and cherry strudel.

Delicious and plentiful food. Wonderful wait staff and atmosphere, but a little pricey. We've gone annually for years and the price has gone up substantially the last few years.

I absolutely love Zehnder's. It was my granddaughters' birthday. She hasnt been since she was a baby. I ordered a birthday cookie from Julie it was amazing. Great service from Tyler (?) ...food great as always. Thank you all for making her birthday amazing

Great food, quaint market beneath the main restaurant. Clean, great staff.

Recommend doing reservation to avoid the wait. My family and I did The buffet style chicken. The chicken was fried to perfection and not greasy feeling. Coleslaw was creamy and the butter noodle was topped with crunchy goodness. The chicken noodle soup had good broth.

Reasonable prices. A little too traditional for my liking.

I don't understand why this place is so popular. Everything is so bland, not seasoned at all, potatoes taste like they came from a box, if you order 1 piece of white meat, you get 1/3rd of a breast that was cut into pieces. Wish we had gone to KFC.

Wedding reception for grand daughter. It was wonderful. They go above and beyond.

Such a wonderful experience. Exceptional food and drinks. Exceptional service.
We have visited during the COVID19 pandemic and the staff go above and beyond to make sure everything is clean and safe. They replace all the table clothes (top and bottom), clean the chairs and even the salt and pepper bottles. There were staff members continuously clean the door handles and such.
One of our favorite restaurants in Michigan. The place can get awfully busy at times though. Plan ahead.

A historic chicken dinner with yummy stolen bread. Dressing like grandma's. Wait staff wear authentic Bavarian costumes. Family fun!

I love eating here when I am up in Frankenmuth plus going down to the marketplace for all the goodies.

Great food, the only place I've been to where the appetizers are truly appetizing. Great service as well, although the item in the shops are way overpriced (which I guess is to be expected from a popular tourist attraction).

Not near as good as everyone says. Very disappointed in the food. We had a large group eat here about 25 people and we reserved our tables ahead of time. It still took a long time to get the food. When we did get it did not live up to the hype.

It's an experience everyone should try when in Frankenmuth, from the interior to the rich history of the place, to the uniforms of wait staff. The food is great for a family. I couldn't even scratch the amount of food I got. Staff is friendly, but the food is comfort food. It's course after course (hence the experience of dining), but it's not food that I'd rush to go back for. Nevertheless, it's the best place to bring a big party or family in town to eat, and the food isn't bad--just not 5 star.

Thee best little town you can visit in Michigan! Zehnders offers everything one could want in a restaurant or destination experience.
If you have a family & want a fun weekend getaway, they can take care of you.
While, they are able to offer artful and memorable experiences for a couple looking for a romantic and quiet dining experience for an evening.

Busy time, New Years eve, but excellent food & service!?

My husband took me for my birthday. The weekend of the car show. We had a blast. The chicken was amazing. My favroite appetizer that comes with the meal. You get salads, breads, noodles, mashed potatos and a host of other stuff plus ice cream for dessert. If you can hold it. It's all around a fantastic place to go with lots to see and do.

The Chicken Dinners don't taste as they did. They've changed the ingredients in the chicken.

If you haven't tried their chicken dinners, it's time to do it. The cafe downstairs is less formal, but has the same fantastic food.

Love this place! Sometimes they're chicken can be too salty, but it's not so bad.

This is a Michigan landmark. Have been coming here for the chicken dinners and shopping since I was a kid.

Their food is top notch! I love the chicken, the liver pate and those little garlic toasts that you spread it on, and the sausage and sauerkraut! Then you go downstairs to their marketplace and they have the most beautiful handmade polish dishware

The chicken was the worst I've ever had! The atmosphere was lovely, but the dusty dry recipe used for their chicken recipe was awful! Just enjoy the history never eat the chicken! No wonder it's included in a package deal, the only way to serve this mess is by basically giving it away!

Great food! You get more food and it tastes better than the Bavarian Inn.

The downstairs chicken house is very reasonable and good the upstairs is way too expensive
