I still love this place. The crust was just a hair less flaky than usual, but OMG I love their pizza so much. Spinach and mushroom stuffed. Pepperoni on top (they use big pepperoni that doesn't contribute as much grease as usual pepperoni) so its edges get crispy.

I haven't had deep dish for a while and was exited to try to this as it's also been on my bookmarks for some time now. We came here midafternoon and though it was still busy, we still got seated really quickly. Among the 4 of us, we got 3 medium pizzas and a salad to share and we had so much leftovers!

We got the kale salad, spinach and mushroom pizza, chorizo pizza and Italian tomato thin pizza. The kale salad was actually really good. I liked the dressing and the nuts on top that gave it a little crunch. The spinach and mushroom was really good - was full of veggies and cheese. The chorizo pizza was alright. It was mostly sauce, some cheese and very little chorizo. The chorizo I did taste was good, but it was more like meat sauce in a crust to me.

The Italian tomato thin pizza was my favorite. The tomatoes tasted super fresh, the cheese was perfect and so was the texture of the crust. For the deep dish pizzas, the crust was really good too.

Overall, it was really good and I was excited for my leftovers the next day.

Excellent stuffed pizza, a Rockridge institution. My friend from Chicago took me here, saying it was the best deep dish place in the area. I'm not one of pick favorites, but Zachary's is delicious and if you love pizza it should be in your rotation.

If you ever go to Oakland, and you love to eat Pizza... this place is a must. Deep dish, Chicago style, always busy, noisy chatter, great wall art, kid friendly, good vibes. Street parking, 30 minute wait to be seated, Saturday night at 8pm. Absolutely no leftovers

The pizza here is always interesting. They have great flavors and unique combinations. The deep dish is fantastic and the flat top white sauce is bomb! I love it here and I also love that it's employee owned.

By far Zachary's pizza has been by far the best deep dish pizza I have had. I have a pleasant time every time I enter a Zachary's pizza place. I really enjoy all the colorful and playful artwork they decorate with. I however do find the wait to be a bit long sometimes when it's busy, but I do think it is very much worth the wait. The thing I like about this Zachary's more than others is mainly the environment it's in, I find it being in this area of Berkeley really makes the experience feel a whole lot better.

We ordered a couple of the salads as an appetizer (1 spinach, 1 arrugula), and that was a really good move since it takes about 30 minutes for the pizza to be ready. We ordered a large (for 5 of us), half meat and half spinach. We each only managed to eat one slice, so there was plenty of leftovers.

This place was good, food came out fast and service was friendly. It did get confusing because I ordered at the counter and then sat down not realizing there were waiters covering that area.

The pizza here is delicious! It's a true deep dish pizza. It is hand made and cooked to order, so expect some time for your order. But it is well worth the wait. The atmosphere is artsy, with tons of zachary's inspired artwork all over the place. The music is eclectic and fun. Also the meatballs for the appetizers are off the hook.

Very nice and attentive staff. It was a super fast pace Saturday when I went with a larger party. The wait for a table and for food did take a while, nothing unreasonable for how busy it was though.

As for the food itself, I was glad that they clearly had the vegan options labeled for people like me. Being the only vegan in a group can be a little weird, but it was easily facilitated thanks to their clear menu and knowledgable staff.

I got a spinach and mushroom on wheat crust, added olives and light vegan cheese. The sauce might too tangy for some people, but I like it that way. The crust was a little tough, and I really had to dig into it to cut it, especially towards the edges. However, the dough has a delicious hint of basil and garlic that complements the sweetness of the abundant sauce on the rest of the pie.

Price was standard for what you get at a crafty pizza places like a this. There was gratuity added to our bill for our party of 7 which we were glad to pay since our server took great care of us. I will for sure be returning, perhaps on a slower day with just me and one other person to split it with.

If your tired of Original Pizza and want to try something new then I suppose you come here to Zachary's Chicago Pizza best pizza I ever had please actually my first experience here was with a person I didn't even know but now that person is my best friend

Always love coming here for dinner. You can't really go wrong with anything on the menu, whether it's pizzas or the appetizers, and they will try to work with dietary restrictions. Definitely the best deep dish pizza spot outside of Chicago in my book.

Be warned it's definitely easy to underestimate the size of their pizzas. A small deep dish is definitely going to be enough for two average size adults.

The pizza is great. It has a true Chicago taste. Only problem is it's a long wait on weekends and the place is kind of cramped. I recommend going on the week days when its not so busy. Other than that, great food.

I'm a Chicago native and recently moved out to the East Bay. Zachary's comes pretty close to the Chicago greats (Pequod's, Lou's, Uno's, Due's) when you are missing deep dish. We ordered delivery and didn't select half-baked but probably will in the future. For true Chicago authenticity, start using cornmeal under the pie! Helps prevent the pizza from sticking to the box and adds no additional flavor.

After fighting the crowds of hungry locals, you get your table, order something that sounds innocuous, good even, and you get what amounts to a big crusty bread bowl of gloppy melted bland cheese, with your ingredients floating around like life rafts on a sea of yellowish quicksand. Really, this is much more like pepperoni fondue than real pizza.
There are so many great pizza places around these days, but somehow Zacharys proves sticky, especially to the college and high school sports team demographic.
In Italy, if you called this stuff pizza, you'd probably be arrested, and publicly stoned. Maybe most of Zachary's customers are stoned as well. That would explain a lot.

Amazing Chicago style pizza! Their meatballs to die for! Excellent customer service! Come by and try their delicious pizza you will not be disappointed! Their marinara sauce and their melting cheeses give it that extra kick you are looking for!

The 8th deadly sin, giving in to the Zachary's craving. It can be very busy but they have a good system for getting you served relatively quickly. The pizza is amazing if you love Chicago style. The tomatoes that they use for their topping and sauce taste so fresh and ripe. I've been to the other location but this one just seems better.

When I first ate here 20 or more years ago, I thought deep dish pizza was amazing. So when I found myself on College Avenue, I wanted just that. Alas, no deep dish on the 'Lunch Special' menu. I was truly disappointed. I ordered the thin crust veggie slice, Caesar salad and large beverage. The veggie slice was good but nothing out of this world. There was an ample amount cheese but I ineeded to add red pepper flakes, oregano and parmesean cheese sprinkled on top. All in all, I enjoyed my lunch very much!

Zachary's offers both thin and deep dish pizza, but the deep dish is the star here. The Zachary's Special is our favorite topped with a thick layer of deliciously seasoned crushed tomatoes over Italian sausage, bell peppers, onions and mushrooms. It's very thick so a small for two of us leaves leftovers. Salads are great too. Loyal fans keep Zachary's busy, but take out is available baked or finish at home. The Bay Area is blessed with many great pizza options, but for us Zachary's is the best.

Really can't say anything here that hasn't been said already. Amazing deep dish pizza and friendly, attentive staff. The only thing that keeps this place from being five stars is the wait, but that's to be expected when you're dealing with deep dish pizza and a busy restaurant. To their credit, Zachary's does let you order your pie before you're seated to minimize wait times, so big props there. I wish I could give 4.5 starts, because that's how close this place is to being perfect. Totally worth the wait!

I went way out of my way to eat here having heard great things. Unfortunately, they don't have any pizza on their menu small enough for one person...which make me even more depressed that I was going out to dinner alone on a Saturday night. I ended up not ordering anything.

Very nice pizza place.

Very nice pizza place.

Me and a group of 3 others got an extra large thin crust because we were in a hurry, but the wait was still considerable (20-30 mins). The food was good when it arrived, but imagine the wait for a deep dish, which is a staple of this place.

But you can't argue with good pizza.

First Chicago style pizza ever. From Sydney, no one does this yet in Australia and I have no idea why. This particular place has obviously hit the nail on the head with their awesome rich, chucky tomato sauce and awesome crust. This is seriously no word of a lie an ACTUAL pie. This is a small and can comfortably feed 3 people (2 pie pieces each). I'm so glad we came here and finally got to experience it.
