The lady was very rude on the phone over a misunderstanding. As I was explaining a situation, she interrupted and told me to stop and didn t seem to care to listen to my actual question. She cut me off before I could speak about what I was calling for. I hung up after getting frustrated and not being listened to.
I hope that when someone calls for something very important that the staff will be more helpful and considerate than this.

This place helps alot of women from all over Butler County this place has had a huge impact on our community and changed and saved many lives throughout its many years of service
Being able to work in an environment that is so family like is rare these days. Being able to say you love going to work every day is also rare. So with that being said I love the programs and people we serve through thr YWCA. Knowing everyday I go to work I make a difference in someone's life is a great feeling.
I am amending this review drastically & deleting old information, because of major improvements at the YWCA. There was a new executive director hired, in the end of 2018. She took some time to evaluate the situation before making major changes: Over half a dozen employees have been replaced with much better staff who really do care about how residents feel about all matters and who treat residents with respect. These changes included the director of the resident program, who was let go over a 'violation of privacy' matter. She had been here 18 years & was far from perfect, as the previous review I deleted had mentioned and residents feared things could only grow worse, when they heard she was fired & would be replaced, as their luck was not running high in this regard. They are all so very thankful for the new director's personnel changes, including the replacement of the resident director with the new one, who is also making major changes in the (now open) flow of & response to, all resident issues & communications. They also reduced the rent here to 30% of resident's income, down from 40. If you work & do not qualify for subsidy elsewhere, you still get a discounted rent here, as the ceiling for rent is $400 max, no matter what you make. The maintenance has always been superior as the gentleman who takes care of this building has exceptional tact & care in handling resident concerns, as he always had - the former negative review I did, did not mention him, due to its focus on various disappointing shortfalls on the part of multiple staff, which he was never part of. All those shortfalls have vanished & improvement is on the rise, in every area. It is such a great place to be now, beside the rare case of resident misbehavior. Keep in mind, they work with everyone here, some with greater issues than others, so cases do come up in which we have to put up with unpleasant situations & people, but each 'problem-child' who has arrived as a newbie, usually works out the kinks, in due time & the misbehavior eventually subsides completely. That is the only shortfall now. But thankfully, even those issues are rare, nowhere near the norm. Much thanks for both the Executive Director Wendy & the new Resident Director Diane. Exceptional improvements have saved the day. Its a great place to be. Remember, you only need to be in either counseling or getting any other kind of psychological treatment to live here. There are other particulars which you can call for further clarification. They will be happy to assist. This place rocks now. All the best to you.
A safe place that offers affordable, single occupancy efficiency apartments to women with a mental health diagnosis, but IS NOT AN EMERGENCY SHELTER, no exceptions. Applicants must have a mental health diagnosis and currently be receiving treatment. Takes at least a month to get application filled out and get into a room. There is a common area on the lobby floor for guests to come visit during business hours, but guests of any kind are not allowed in resident's rooms or any other floor of the building without prior permission.
Also has several public areas to rent for luncheons, receptions as well as a basketball court that's been rented for sports team practices and Zumba classes in the past and a kitchen that may be rented. The events can be hosted privately or for the public.
Doors are open to the public 7:30am-10pm every day of the week and year but after 10pm please call since after then the doors are locked to the public, even though there is still staff at the Front Desk at all times. Operation Staff is only in Monday-Friday.
Front Desk staff is there 24/7/365 but can only give information and not make choices as to residency, room rentals, give information on statuses of applications or ANY information concerning current or former residents. On weekends and after around 6pm or so during the week, Front Desk staff CANNOT leave the building or desk for any reason (other than an emergency) due to safety regulations that protect the residents and staff.
I have worked at the YWCA for 9 years, both in the maintenance department and am currently Front Desk staff. I ask that you please, please, please be patient, as these rules concerning confidentiality and safety are not just YWCA's regulations but are government regulations as well.
We at the Front Desk are not allowed to bend any of these rules for anyone (family or otherwise) and may not only lose our jobs but be faced with legal ramifications as well, not to mention compromise the safety of our residents if we do.
I have been dealing with mental illness all my life. Living at the YWCA taught me how to be a strong woman, and care for myself. They made a huge difference in my life.
