Young America Realty Review

Customer service and contact options have been terribly disappointing. Collections department has failed to respond to any emails in the last week and is unavailable to be called by phone. I have repeatedly been directed to an answering machine rather than a person when trying to call customer service/accounts, and on the few occasions when I was able to get a person to speak to regarding an issue with my account, I was only provided vague assurances that they will forward my complaints and 'get to the issue within a few business days' while it has been over a week. Have been very frustrated with the opaqueness and slowness of the system, when if anything the current situation should make them even more sensitive to the needs of their customers.

Wow, what a treat working with Young America! Great communication, great follow-up...can't say enough about the support they provide. Keep up the good work!

Living through Young America has been a great experience so far. The employees are always so friendly and available to help in anyway possible and are always quick to help. They give us a monthly utility overview which is great for keeping us on track of our utility usage. There are so many benefits of living through Young America and I would highly recommend living through them to anyone!

My experience with Young America has been great thus far. This was the first time ever signing a lease through a realty company and Young America made my experience a great one. The staff at Young America was very professional, friendly and helpful, especially Kelsey Whalen. Kelsey was a huge help to my friends and I when it came down to signing the lease for our apartment. I currently live at Young America and have experienced exceptional customer service. I talked with Corban, one of their leading agents, about an issue with the heater and he took the time to fill out the maintenance request for me and had someone at my apartment that same day. The issue was resolved quickly and pain free.

Yesterday, it was freezing cold outside and I forgot my key. I was so grateful when I called YA and they rushed out, Brittney came out and helped me get into my apartment.

Young America is the best place to rent from, they provide everything needed for students. I was quickly able to resign my lease with young America and live with my best friends for another school year. If you are looking for an apartment on campus young America is definitely the best place.

The customer service at Young America is terrible, they never email or call back regarding tenant issues. My daughter rented with First Site the year before and had no issues like this!

Anytime that I walk into the building or call for a question I have the pleasure of talking to Darien who works for Young America. I absolutely love how polite and professional he is. He is always helping me with my problems and if he doesn't know the answer he finds someone else to help me or provides some other resource so I am not left empty handed. he is a great employee and i thank that there is someone who works at Young America with his work ethic. I have been a Young America resident for two years now and I have had an overall good experience. They have a good range of apartments for all budgets. Also, their apartments are all in decent proximity to campus. They are well organized when it comes to signing a lease and planning tours of the apartments. They helped me with my first ever lease signing and they explained a lot to help with the experience. I have had a good experience with maintenance workers as well. They always come in a timely manner and are always kind and helpful!

Young America Realty has been nothing but kind, helpful, and accommodating since my roomates and I have moved into our new townhouse. Leasing agent, RJ, went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable with my living arrangments after I had an unexpected injury. I would recomend YA Realty to all my friends and family.

We came to visit the units prior to.my daughter starting school. I drove my truck off of road on retaining wall area. Yes it was damaged but YA realty came out and stayed with me. They called Thier towing company and took care of all cost. My daughter was able to view units and I caught up to them. Randy, Connor and Don were great to deal with. I felt good leaving her, knowing that they help me when we had not rented. We did end up leasing a unit and the process was easy quick. Thank you

If you don't live in the lodge they could care less about you. Have had so many issues. Currenlty have a broken washing machine that has been broken for 3 weeks and YA have said that it has been fixed but hasnt.

They make finding a place very simple. YA is held to a high standards and they continue to live up to it.

Best one in town in terms of quality and value. Jeff and his team are simply awesome.

Young America made searching for apartments so easy! They worked their hardest to get us the best deal possible and took the time to figure out every option that would work best for us girls at Tri Delta. They took the time to come to our house, bring us on tours, and have meetings with us to keep us updated on what was going on! Jen Janssen was AWESOME with relaying questions and answers in between us and the managers at YA!

Moving into a Young America Townhouse has been one of the best decisions I ve ever made! Their properties are well maintained & all the staff is super friendly and very helpful. Staff at YA responds to emails at a timely manner. The Townhomes are located in such a great, quiet neighborhood, that s nearby a variety of stores & restaurants. My neighbors are even friendly. I LOVE IT HERE!!!

YAR always has lots of fun events. Festival ISU, open house, homecoming tailgates. They are always handing out free t-shirts, cups, cell phone wallets, and tickets! I had already received a t-shirt and won another one so Melissa Valencia was awesome and switched it with a tank. They have some friendly workers there!

I have lived with Young America the past two years and have had nothing but a great experience. The staff is extremely friendly and very helpful. They have many different apartment complexes all around campus at different prices. I would suggest living with them if you are looking for a place to live!

We rented a 3 bedroom townhouse on Rainbow Ave from YA Realty. The maintenance requests were handled quickly, the price was reasonable, and we received back our entire security deposit when we moved out.

I wish I could give them negative stars, should ve read all the reviews before signing with them. Any other leasing company is better than them! Whenever an issue arose, I would try contacting them and leaving multiple voicemails only to have them never return calls or emails. Very unprofessional

Maintenance is alright but everything is overpriced and all the appliances are outdated. Would not recommend.

Don't EVER accept a gift card from them!!!! They told me I would be able to use the $300 gift card they gave me, for my rent!. Turns out, I could not even get the money off the card. The manager told me I can to spend the $300 gift card in any store, and just take $300 out of my personal bank account to balance it out Then she said I can do it online...that charge a $23.95 fee with a extra $4.00 flat fee . No ATM, money center, or even the branch the card came from will accept it!!!Also the maintenance is horrible, staff has attitudes, and it's made cheap!!

I live with Young America now. Today I was locked out of my apartment and my roommates were not at home. I called the office and Dylan came out to let me into my apartment. He was very helpful and I was able to get into my apartment and make it to my next class on time!

One of the best experiences I've had for an apartment while I was at college. The staff was always welcoming, and answered any questions promptly when asked. They make it really easy to do the sublease process as well. I would recommend them for anybody living near Illinois State University.

I am in love with my apartment and wish I had lived here last year! Elise Woodward has helped me a few times with maintenance issues and contacting the correct person to take care of the situations. My daughter really enjoys living in her apartment from Young America. Anytime there has been an issue with anything they have been there for her to take care of it. The on site facilities are great as well.

There were a lot of apartments I liked when I working with Young America Realty. The guy that was helping me out was really friendly and answered my questions fast and in detail. I believe his name was Nick Wilson, so if you are trying to schedule a tour, ask for him. I really enjoyed my experience with Young America because of how honest Nick was about the apartments. I feel like when you go on a tour of apartments the person giving the tour holds some information back from you to try to get you to like the apartment more. Nick would give you all the information about the apartments and MORE!!

I am currently a Young America resident and i value their business very much! I live at the lodge right now and whenever I put in a maintenance request it is always fixed within a day or 2 at the most. Although sometimes their are internet problems, they always try and fix it and give out giftcards for the inconvenience. They are also always invovled on campus and make things easy to understand when it comes to the whole leasing process. Overall, I would live with them again over any realty company in Normal,il

I am Justin McElroy's girlfriend, and I am also friends with many of the people that he has helped through Young America. Everyone I have talked to has loved working with Justin, and they have said how helpful he was. Justin focuses on finding living arrangements that work best for the client, both budget and accommodation wise. Many of Justin's clients have sent their friends to him as well which just goes to show how much they liked working with him and how well he was able to help them. I can also easily see how Young America has helped Justin grow as a business man and as someone who works well with others. From the beginning of the school year to now, he has learned a lot and improved his sales and communication skills through this business.

I am just transferring to ISU this fall and was completely lost and a little nervous about finding a place to live. I heard a lot of YAR and when I walked in Connor Small literally made finding a place to live painless and easy. I felt so bad for making him take me what seemed like all over Normal, but he was more than happy to do it. He was really sweet and had such a great personality that it felt more like looking for an apartment with a friend rather than a rental company. I cant wait to move in and am now really excited for my first year at ISU!

Looking for a place to live is not easy as a college student. When I walked into Young America I had no idea where I wanted to live. Saige Anderson was my leasing agent and did a wonderful job. She made me feel comfortable from the start by introducing herself and asking if I had any questions. From there she took me to several places and did an amazing job of showing the apartment, amenities, and features of each place. I did not understand some parts of the lease and she did a great job of explaining everything to me while staying professional. My experience here was awesome and I am looking forward to living with Young America.

The Young America staff is so amazing. They helped with any issues or cocerns we had and were always easily acceptable whether it was through the online portal, social media, phone, etc. The maintenance staff always came within less than 24 hours and were always super friendly. I highly recommended living with Young America and live at the Lodge if you can!

I came into the Young America office earlier this week with many questions and concerns before signing a lease. I was politely greeted by an employee, Brittany, who answered all of my questions and made me very comfortable and excited to be signing with Young America. Since then, whenever I reach out to the company they are quickly responsive and helpful. I am very please living at the Lodge and wouldn't want to sign anywhere else.

We stayed at our daughter, Tara's apartment last weekend instead of a hotel. So comfortable and much cleaner then a hotel. True high end finishes! We love the Summit! Especially the secured keypad entrance. Summit's location and amenities are awesome.

being a leasing agent myself when I m not in school I can honestly say young America makes the process super easy. They have great properties as well as a staff that is educated on the area. My husband and I have been here since July of 2019. We have had no problems with our neighbors at all. The maintenance department is always on time and great at what they are doing. The office team is always ready to help with any questions you have.

My experience with young America reality was very satisfactory, reality agent Nick Wilson showed me around the housing and did a wonderful job. He was very professional and inviting when presenting the apartment. I never felt rushed when examining the apartment and he had very thought out answers for all of my questions.

My roommate broke his bed, and I have to pay for that. YA just used their easiest way to fix the problem: split the cost! Hey do you want your roommate lose his money? Just break your bed, your table, anything. Your roommate will pay for your act !!! What a funny policy! The reason I gave 3 stars is they did really good job at maintaining, leasing and other stuff. unfortunately, this policy made me want to reduce 2 stars.

Great customer service here. Olivia Parker helps me over the phone with any questions I have and is always so nice and friendly! She is always happy to answer your questions and resolve your issues in a very timely manner.

Micheal Mizurek is one of the most informative leasing agents at College Station! He is very knowledgeable on the leasing terms offered at College Station, and is more than willing to help all prospective tenants without making you feel incompetent! Definitely recommend as a leasing agent!

Young America is definitely the best realiter at ISU. This year I moved into a house and there were numerous of problems with the house from the previous tennents. But when I called Connor Small and was able to talk to him about all the problems, they were able to come through and fix it in days. Connor Small was so understanding about everything and was able to pass on the information.

Very responsive to maintenance issues and excellent resident portal that makes it easy to pay your rent, view payment history, and submit maintenance tickets. Everything can be done online, and I have never had to visit the office even once. Highly recommend.

Overcharge every single resident, fine you if something was broken by them, make a boatload of money off of things that are taken for granted.

I moved in and the place was really dirty, along with a partially consumed 6-pack of Corona being left in the fridge. They didn't even bother cleaning. See the photos attached. This is a serious issue, especially since it's during COVID-19.

Maintenance hardly comes, and if they did, they don't fix the issue and leave.

It took them almost an ENTIRE MONTH to fix an ethernet port. The first guy did some testing but didn't know how to fix it. Second one came, said he was going to check the connection, left and never came back. The third time I opened a request, they manually closed it briefly after I opened it for no reason. Only when I had enough and went in person did they actually send someone competent to fix it.

This place may have nice sales staff, but don't be fooled. They are a sorry excuse for both their property management and "maintenance".

I went into the YAR office the other day and had many questions. Melissa was very patient and helped me with everything! She even gave me a YA shirts along with a cell phone case to hold my cards and everything. Everyone is so nice there!

As apartment owners in a small town, in talking to
Justin McElroy a year ago he did not think a person could make much of a difference as an entrepreneur. It would be easier to work for a large company. Then he went to work for Young America Realty and learned the real estate business, earned a basic license, and began the work of renting and dealing with rental clients. Justin has reversed his opinion and realizes that entrepreneurship is possible with long hours, hard work and a desire to learn. He will graduate with a job and a desire to eventually invest in a field he knew nothing of a year ago. Entrepreneurs begin with a belief in the possibilities of success and Young America helped with that. In a time of confusion Justin has grown to believe that some people make it because they are willing to learn, see failure as a type of success and try again with creativity . Worst run property management group around. No one in the office has a clue. Three years of a lot of rent paid for crappy apartments, and a lot of things broken. Tons of unexpected fees, and worst internet possible. Wasting your time.

Currently living with YA on a 7-month lease, and have been disappointed. The apartment I'm currently in has had cockroaches in it since we moved in. At one point, I woke up to one on my hand. Finally, a pest control company was sent after a few days of no direct answers. While my unit was treated, the rest of the building has not been. The entrance to my apartment is covered with roaches most nights when trying to enter the buildings. My current living situation has been uncomfortable .

The student leasing agents do a fine job, but the standard of living doesn't appear to be at the same level for all of their properties.

I have never had direct personal experience with Young America, however, my cousin and his family were in search of an apartment and went to them for help. I am friends with a leasing agent there and they were lucky enough to meet with him. They were blown away by the care and professionalism Christian held throughout the whole process. They couldn't be happier with their apartment searching experience!

Last year an employee by the name of Nick Wilson helped my friend and I find an apartment. We were searching for what felt like an eternity and time and time again we were not able to find the perfect on-campus apartment. Yet, the second I walked into Young America I was greeted with smiles and the first person to come up to me was Nick Wilson. He was able to find us the perfect apartment in our budget and I m eternally grateful for it. Because of him, next year I will have a cozy apartment that feels like home.

Nick Wilson was a huge help to me during the entire process. He knew exactly what he was doing and worked around my schedule to make sure that I was satisfied 110%. I highly recommend Nick Wilson!

I rented from Young America last year and I found out that the house they had rented to me was not even registered to be rented out to the public. Not only that but I also had to move out before my lease was up due to a problem that I cant legally talk about. Just saying if a "legitimate" company is going to do business with people the left hand should at least know what the right hand is doing.

All of the Young America staff is super friendly and extremely good looking. I didn't know models went to this school!

This is my first year having my own apartment and couldn't be happier with the service I have received. Young America has been very accommodating to anything we need. I had a few questions on how to go about getting things fixed for my apartment and Brit Idler was able to help with everything. She put in a maintenance request for me and the next day I had someone at my apartment fixing whatever needed to get done. Brit was easy to talk to and very helpful with all of my questions!

The company is really helpful when you are looking for an affordable apartment. I signed a lease to a 4bhk apartment last year and have had a really good experience so far. There are times when I really wish the customer service providers are prompt when addressing any problems the tenants have with the living conditions or other issues.

I had Kelly Sarhage as a consultant and she was great. She helped me switch from FirstSite to YA and I am so happy. She made everything so easy and helped me pick out a great apartment.

The staff was always very polite and helpful, and while utilities in our apartment tended to break, maintenance was always incredibly quick to come out and fix it, even if it was labeled as low priority. I don't think I ever had to wait over 48 business hours for maintenance, and the problem was usually fixed within 20 minutes.

My friend Melissa works at YAR and I know she loves working there. Every time I have walked into Young America I am greeted right away and always get my questions answered! I resigned recently and collected my $200 gift card!!!!

Living in a Young America apartment was great! Signing was a breeze, and all of the apartments I was shown were a great fit for me (location, price, etc). Whenever I had questions/concerns, they were addressed right away. 10/10 recommend signing with Saylor! She does a wonderful job, is personable and friendly, and knows so much about all of the properties. She was even willing to answer my questions while she wasn t on the clock! Heidi is the best too!

This is my first year signing with Young America and I have no complaints! Whenever we have a minor problem they send maintenance over right away with no questions asked. Young America is second to none in the realty business! I have been a residential renter for 3 years and they go above and beyond in customer service.

It has only been a few weeks with Young America, but they have been extremely accommodating so far! We asked them to replace our AC unit and dishwasher and they replaced both very quickly. They also sprayed our apartment for bugs when we asked them to come out. So far we are very happy!
