Young America Realty Review

Melissa and some other girls were in charge of our group for getting early signing. They made everything very clear and helped us through the process. They came to our chapter with t-shirts, cups, phone wallets, and pens. Since YA reached out to us, we get an early signing time and don't have to camp out during open leasing

I am a current Young America resident and have been very pleased with my experience with them. I had an issue with my toilet not flushing well from not being used for a while, and they immediately came and fixed it the same day I put in the work order. Also we wanted the staircase painted white since the pictures online showed that, and Young America agreed to paint it for no cost to us, and they did it sooner than they told us they would. All of the maintenance people have been very helpful and professional. Overall has been a great experience for me!

I moved into a Young America apartment in May and my experience has been 100 times better than with my last realty company. The move-in process was really smooth and after doing early move-in my apartment was still cleaner than my apartment last year. I live at the lodge and the company always keeps the premises clean and fixes things promptly when they are broken or need repair. After seeing how much better this company is than my last experience I would never live with anyone but Young America at ISU.

I have lived in two different apartments with Young America and the experience was awesome. The staff was always really nice and helpful, whenever I had any problems they solved it quickly. The maintenance was just as awesome, whenever something broke they were there within a few hours of me putting in a maintence request. Young America is definitely the best ISU apartment option.

My brother, Connor, works for Young America and has nothing but positive things to say about the realty company and its staff. After meeting several members of the staff, I can see why Connor is so proud of the company he works for. I have visited his apartment and house that he has leased with Young America and thought that they were perfect properties for college students.

I could not be happier with the experiences I've had with YA. The apartments are so beautiful and well-kept, and everyone in the office is accommodating and informative. Since I signed with YA I've worked closely with Kelsey Whalen multiple times. She always makes sure to help out in any way she can, and answers all of my questions open and honestly, making sure my living conditions are the best they can be. Young America is awesome!

Overall, I have had a good experience with Young America. Any issues with the apartment I have had were fixed by maintenance promptly. I give it 4 instead of 5 due to the fact that I am not notified when maintenance will come by to help, and I have missed them a couple times. But it is a small issue, I got a nice apartment at a discounted price for being in an RSO

I was looking to sign for an apartment at willow and I found my experience with young america to be a great one. I was assisted by Britt Idler and she was very outgoing and friendly. She was also extremely helpful and answered all my questions without any hesitation!

I have signed twice with YA, and they are great people to work with, making sure you have as pleasant an experience as possible where you live. They have awesome customer service with employees, such as Christian Raether, who answer any and all questions as well as get problems fixed very quickly. All in all, Young America is the full package with great service, great apartments, and great prices.

Choosing to live at an apartment complex owned by Young America was a great decision! They have helped me with everything that has come up and I really appreciate that!

The property manager Randy can't be bothered to speak with tenants through email or phone, leaving no room for communication with him, though other employees give out his contact information like it's a possibility. Either there is a problem of lying within this company or the communication between manager and employees is so poor that they might as well be lying. Another example of this would be the fact that before I signed my lease, I asked multiple representatives if caged animals were okay in the apartments as I have a rabbit. I said I would not live there if they werent. I was assured that they were allowed so I signed the lease. I have even been present for tours of my own apartment where representatives have told those touring that caged animals are allowed. Turns out I have $500 in fines now, after months and months of them being aware about the situation and being reassured that it's fine. I also need to find a new home for my beloved pet, and any pet owner should know that is unacceptable. Again, through all of this, the property manager cannot be bothered with responding to inquiries, only with repeatedly issuing fines without any explanation.

All in all, this is a money hungry realty company with no regard for students lives, only for taking what's in their wallets.
Sign with them if you want unnecessary fines and fees on top of the tens of thousands you're already spending on school, or if you hate being happy.

I have leased from Young America for 2 years and have had nothing but a positive experience. Anytime I have a question, they give me immediate answers. Jackie Gaytan was the agent I signed with and I couldn't have asked for a more helpful/knowledgable person to help me in a pretty big decision! Maintenance is awesome here. Every time I put in a maintenance request, it was followed up within 24 hours. I recommend YA Realty to all college students!

I worked with the staff at Young America for fall 2016 to spring 2017 and they were very helpful with the rental process and their prompt attention on a few items that I needed help with. They always answered me quickly and provided some options, just a great experience. Thank you.

I know the customer service is excellent at Young America because every time I walk in the door I am always greeted. Registration was easy because they have a computer at the front desk where I can fill everything out right there. Melissa V. also hooked me up with a shirt and a phone wallet. I use it all the time!

When I was looking for apartments they were very professional and Jen was great when showing us all apartments for our big group. They even followed up with us afterward to see if there was anything else they could do. I see Young America on the quad and all over ISU all the time. They definitely made finding an apartment less stressful.

I have rented from Young America for two years now, and I would recommend them. The staff are friendly. The maintenance people always come in such a timely manner. I have put in a maintenance requests and usually it gets done within two days regardless of the priority I put. Overall, I ve been very happy with my experience renting through Young America.

I had a very positive experience with Young America during the open leasing season. Since I signed up with a group I was able to receive a discount on rent. Kate was the leasing agent for my RSO group. She was very organized and helpful during the signing process. Defiantly recommend!

Never again what a loser company taking full advantage of tenants gave me 2 days notice I had to move out and wonder why their appt is a mess .. charged me almost 500 I m cleaning fees and $75 for not returning my keys ( even though I did ) I then called and they said sorry you can only email us disputes .. will never get my money again

I'm so glad I chose to live in an apartment through Young America. All of the employees are super knowledegable and friendly. Also, I like how they keep my roommates and I updated on our monthly utility usage. I will always recommend them to friends.

Young America is the worst retailer, STAY AWAY, they're straight trash and will screw you over in the long run. You've all been warned

Brandon from maintenance was very helpful and very nice towards my roommates and I. He was also very polite and followed every regulation necessary for COVID-19. 5/5 for Brandon in maintenance!

Their maintenance staff has bathroom etiquette issues pissing/pooping on the hoop and not cleaning it up as well as not washing their hands. From a maintenance perspective this propertey under their care has had un ventilated bathrooms for over a year, and extreme water damage possibly mold in the public restoom tiles. Also the staff constantly double-parks in the buildings only handicap space (This is in regards to their location at 602 kingsley)

I have been renting from YA going on two years now. I have no complaints, they are very nice and accommodating. Their properties that I have seen are nice and fairly priced. The maintenance team is wonderful. I m going to stay with them for a while and move into a bigger place when my lease is up.

I love my apartment and YA staff always gets back to you right away.

I called Young America and spoke with a pleasant young woman named Brittany. She was very helpful and knowledgeable as she assisted me with my maintenance concern. She even followed up with me the following week! She truly cares about her customers and that is typically what you will find at Young America.

Good reality company to use when looking for an apartment at ISU! I lived with them for 2 years and didn't have any problems! They were very quick to respond to any questions we had!

We recently moved into our home and there were a lot of mishaps and mistakes when moving in. Short story version... we ended up not getting the unit we wanted. BUT Stephanie and Kenzie both helped up tremendously by making it the unit we wanted. Our appliances were updated and the maintenance staff was quick to fix things in our home. We will definitely be staying here until we decide to buy our first home. I would recommend YA Realty to anyone. Extremely nice staff and have quality homes to rent from at a reasonable price, what's not more to love?!

Would give less if I could. They take advantage of first time leasers. Every time i call in for help I m treated as if I m being done a favor. Think twice before renting from them and consider other reality company s will never be staying with ya again. Also they hire painters who would be ok with lying to you and telling you the paint they use won t be toxic. If I where not home my pets would have been forced to inhale the chemicals. And the painter would have been complete ok with lying to me and allowing me to breath In these chemicals. Do not trust them do not rent

This has been my first year renting through young America. I was skeptical about signing with one of the big name property managers on ISU campus but overall my experience with them has been nothing but positive. Employees are very knowledgeable and helpful. One particular employee, Darien I believe, had nothing but the up most understanding for a problem I had encountered. He handled the situation very calmly and professionally. There's no doubt in my mind this kid has "it."

I ve always heard mixed reviews but I have never had a problem with them. Before we signed, everyone in the office was really nice and welcoming. One worker, Cory, showed us various listings and was real with us about what the best apartment is for the price. I ve signed with them both years I ve lived off campus. Also, YA gave my friends apartment a big Christmas tree one year.

I have lived with Young America Realty in two different apartments in the past three years. The maintenance is top notch, they have always been fast and super nice. They are even preemptive when it comes to outside maintenance. We had a loose board on our step that I noticed one day, and before I had the work order in, it was fixed. They also have a huge selection of apartments to choose from and really nice sales reps. I also got my full deposits back in both apartments. My only complaint about them is their payments system. I did online e checks and was charged a fee for paying my rent. It seemed odd and have not had a similar charge at any of the other apartments I looked at. But other than that, this is a great company to rent from.

The best in student housing at Illinois State! I recommend their many properties to any student attending ISU. Extremely affordable and in close proximity to campus.

It's so crazy to think 4 years has gone by so quickly! Although my college experience had its ups and downs, one thing really relieved stress and remained positively consistent: my living experience with Young America Realty. Whether it was detailed lease explanations, superior customer relationship building, or generous group discounts given, I can honestly look back and say that YA tremendously improved my overall college experience. A huge part of their success goes to the amazing agents YA has employed over the years. Personally, I've had the chance to work with Darien Jacobs, Kate Rosignal, and "Big" Alex Persons. Each and every time I've contacted YA, they were eager to assist me in any way possible. Leasing apartments can be a stressful thing, but thanks to Young America Realty, I've lived stress free!

I signed a new apartment with Young America earlier this year because they seem to have the best locations and great prices! Justin McElroy showed me around a few different apartments. He was extremely helpful and was able to clearly answer all of my questions regarding each apartment. On such a busy signing day he made the process easy and enjoyable. I can't wait to move into my new apartment!

Stephanie the residential leasing manager is a pleasure to work with. Just make sure you take pictures of any damage not caused by you and she'll make sure everything is squared away. I rented from them for 4 years and had no issues. Everything that needed fixed got fixed quickly and the only issue I had was taken care of. I would recommend to a friend.

I have been living with YA over the past 2 years. I have always had great service and been treated well. My heat recently went out around 9PM on a sunday. I recently got in to contact with Tara and she was able to put me through a maintenance member to get it taken care of right away. Highly recommend to anyone who needs housing.

I have lived in Bloomington-Normal for 5 years. My experiences with YA is never consistent. My great customer service experiences were during the time the office had a different management team. They cared for their tenants, and was clear and concise about tentant expectations. Because they took time to reach out, especially when there was a problem it spoke volumes for their dedication and commitment to their clients. Today, when things are running smooth, there are no issues and the staff is GREAT. However, if a problem arises, either someone can't fix it or you get the run arounds. I can't say that I've had the best experiences with YA since I have been back for over a year. I made the decision to move quickly from one place to another. They were supposed to make this process easier than what it actually was, granted it was a YA apt we moved from. There was lack of communication and as a result the tenant had to suffer for it. And to top it off, I have nothing in writing to cover my back side, so it is credible, not just hearsay. I will not be leasing with them again.

I have experienced wonderful customer service through Young America. I was taken out on a showing with Emily Carpenter, who was very knowledgable and personable. She was able to answer all the questions that I had without any hesitation, and made the overall experience a great one.

When I was looking for an apartment at ISU, I recieved great assistance from Michael Mazurek. He gave me some great options and talked me through the lease. He gave me good options for the price I wanted, and he helped me find my apartment I currently reside today.

I have no idea how they have such a high rating, they most likely have their employees give them perfect stars and their friends as well. As of now I am on backed charged 663 dollars because of financial issues at home. My father lost his job 3 years from retirement and hasn't gotten a real job since (this was 7 years ago), hes overqualified and over aged. I have consistently been paying them (some not on time, but they get their money). They have turned my internet off until I pay. I'm unable to get a paid job because of my lack of consistent internet, as I am an unpaid intern for the winter session. Ergo I cannot pay them because they will not allow me to attempt to pay them. Also the woman at accounts seemed very snarky saying pretty much "you have to pay it so I can turn it back on"-paraphrasing. Thus emphasizes their inability to be flexible with broke college students and people still suffering from the 2008 recession. Also it is important to note that they can turn your internet off in the first place. I am in consistent talks with them and that is the intent of turning your internet off in the first place, to get you to call them. Now they use it to corner me against a wall. Highly recommend anyone else over them.

Another note, The saleswoman who sold me my apartment (really nice girl, she was just doing her job), said they had a fully stocked kitchen, when we actually moved in my roommate and I realized there was no dishwasher, thus being a bait and switch as well. The appliances in the kitchen are all from the 90's and they only update them in more expensive apartments such as Kennsington sweets.

I can honestly say my interactions with Young America where almost always great. While finding an apartment can be an uneasy time I always found the staff to be professional and helpful!

The housing of Young America was amazing! There was so much housing to choose from it was awesome. My leasing agent Rayna Dahl was not only informative and helpful, she was a charming and pretty young lady. The whole experience was wonderful and I cannot wait to live in my apartment next year.

Young America is really busy during this time of year with people resigning their leases. They are very generous with giving people $200 gift certificates if they renew their apartment. My good friend Melissa works there and she always makes sure her customers are happy!

I leased my first apartment with Young America and I have nothing but good things to say about this company. I live in one of the luxury places on campus and it is in excellent condition. The price is a little expensive, but you do get what you pay for. And if I ever need maintenance the guys show up to fix things within a few days to take care of it. I would recommend their properties to anyone I know. By far the best realty company on campus.

I have rented from YA for the previous 3 years. They were very helpful when needing to find a new apartment that fit our needs and wants. Apartments were updated and I appreciated the appliances that were included in our units (laundry/dishwasher/etc.). Maintenance was always readily available and helpful when something came up.

Young America was so helpful, and personal with their services. They cut to the chase and don't try to trick you into signing anything less that what you're looking for. My guide, Jen Janssen, was extremely helpful and realistic when assisting me, and was very understanding to what I was looking for. Great realty service!

Don t let their rating fool you because they self review, this is 100 percent the worst realty company in Normal. I pay my rent on time every month and they still turned off my internet connection this weekend while school is ALL ONLINE and I can t get ahold of anyone on the phone to turn it back on! I also can t order a package to my apartment because they all get stolen and to even see the camera footage they charge you $75. It really doesn t get any worse than Young America and all the students around here know it. Do yourself a favor and sign with First Site.

I lived with Young America my Junior year, and First Site my senior year. Young America was MILES better than First Site (DO NOT RENT WITH FIRST SITE, THEY ARE SCAMMERS) With Young America, the whole process from touring, to check-in, to move-out was amazing. After touring a place I liked I had no roommate that I wanted to move in with. A week later, Young America called me saying they had another person to match me up with, and it worked out great. While living there, we had a slight ant problem but their maintenance came out within a timely matter. The only bad thing I experienced with Young America was that I requested to get a Full size bed in my room instead of a Twin, which they said they could do, but then they never did. Move out was smooth and they only kept like $5 of my security deposit for some damaged blinds.

Really enjoyed the experience in getting my apartment. Overall, great service!

I live at Rutherford and love my apartment. We had a problem with our washer machine and had to put a work oder in and they were there the very next day to fix it. They are also around campus giving away free t-shrts, cups, sunglasses, ext all the time which is awesome!

I had a few questions about how to make my payment online and I spoke with Olivia and she was very helpful!

Run away from Young America Realty. Breaks down payments into 12 portions but they don't actually count for each month. Pay for 12 months but only get 11 months in the apartments! Oh and don't trust all these glowing reviews because their employees are leaving them! If I could give less than 1 star I would. Find other housing and you'll thank me.

A real estate company that caters to the youth of America, very friendly, helpful and assuring. Prices are suitable for college students and they make it a goal to give every client an easy-going, pleasant experience.

The apartments they have are great but it is nearly impossible to get problems solved when you have them. You call the office and no one can help you or you get transferred and you still need to complete further steps. They always charge fees for unexpected things and for maintenance on issues that were from the previous tenants. It is a struggle to have to try and contact someone to get it fixed every time. I can't wait to not have to deal with YA after my lease is up this May.

Young America Realty is a great company to lease from. I know they have a great staff because Melissa Valencia works there. The new design of their t-shirt and tank top really stand out around campus and seems to be a great marketing tool.
