Patrick Kinsella helped me get our place at the lodge expansion, super helpful, would recommend.

Been with young America for 3 years and although Younf America should offer semester leasing for 5th years they are a great agency to lease from. Agents such as Haley are the main reason we enjoy leasing through these guys!
My son, Corban, works here. He was a transfer student to ISU which put him in a tough spot to get involved on campus. Luckily, during the beginning of his second semester he was hired as a leasing agent at Young America. Since then he has not only gained relevant experience for his future, but has also gained many great friends and established strong relationships with his managers. YA has been a blessing to him and I'd highly recommend this company to not only transfer students but anyone looking for an avenue to get envolved!
3rd year with Young America.
Excellent staff and easy to work with.
I ve lived with Young America for two years and love it!! Haley has been so helpful in answering our questions and being friendly whenever we need anything!
I have experienced only great things about Young America Realty. They came to the Tri Delta house to give us information about some apartments and they were very informative and helpful. Also, Jen Janssen was great to work with. She was always willing to answer questions and help out in any way she could. Everyone was extremely nice and informative about the apartments. I had a great experience working with them!
I signed my lease with Young America last week and couldn't be more excited! I was referred by Cara Hemann who happens to be an employee there. Great people, good vibes, and I got a free T-shirt. What's not to like!?
I have two kids (freshmen and senior) attending ISU using two different leasing companies. Young America deserves 5 stars compared to the nightmare of a company such as First Site Apartments. The management is not even comparable. Thank you Young America for the trust and professionalism with your tenants and the amazing empathy and customer service to those that lease with you!
My experience with Haley Z. Was awesome, she was so helpful while I was looking for apartments around campus, and made the process super easy for me!
Whenever I go into Young America with questions about my place or utility bill Will Harmon is always willing to listen and help. Maintenance has also been awesome with solving any issues, they show up at my door right after I put in my work order. I would definitely recommend Young America for ISU students.
One of the worst experiences of my 20 years of renting properties. Recently left the military came back home to Illinois found what I thought was an amazing apartment online. Apartment turned out to be a subleasing apartment from a man who had just bought a house. Went and checked out the apartment not too bad carpet was bad (even asked if they could replace before we moved in was in and was told i wouldnt be charhed), there is a few minor damages here in there. When I did my initial inspection I noted everything on my paperwork. I have pictures to back everything up. After six months the sublease was up so I decided to rent with them again because I had not found a house to buy yet and my kids were in the middle of the school year. Again during the new leasing process I told them again of the damage to the carpet and how I would like it replaced prior ro me signing. I was reassured that I would not get charged for the carpet seeing how it was previously noted that it was damaged when I moved in. Not to mention that the dishwasher had not worked since I moved in and I had made several request the maintenance man to fix it because every time I try to use it it smell like something was on fire. Dishwasher was never fixed. Maintenance always left a note saying it worked fine however when I turn it on it would smoke and it smelt like it was on fire. Fast forward nine months later and I got an offer to move to another state. So I informed Young America Realty that I will be leaving six weeks prior to the end of my lease. It took me up until two weeks prior to me leaving to get some type of paperwork tell me how I should clean the house and that's only because I went to them directly even though I had given them a six weeks notice prior to me leaving. I also requested my early termination agreement however was told that the manager was on vacation and that she would email me as soon as possible. I was denied several request to schedule a move out inspection. Only simply told that they would do the inspection after I had left and dropped off the keys and that I would be mailed a letter of all damages. This is the only apartment that I know that will not let you be involved in the inspection while checking out. I also tried going to the office several times meeting with the manager of the apartments to show them the pictures of Damages prior to me moving in. However she was conveniently on vacation or out of the office every time. Out of a $600 deposit I received only $60 and some change back. Not only did they charge me $300 to replace the crappy carpet that was already damaged when I moved in but they also charged me $217 change the color of the paint that was in the apartment when I leases it. I did not paint the apartment I did not change the color. It was the color that it was when I moved in. When I brought this up to the manager's attention the only thing that she could say was that I should have contacted the the guy I sublet for to find out what the color of the original paint was however all the apartments are painted the exact same color inside. I have tried contacting the guy I subleased from seeing how he left bills unpaid also for the apartment that I got charged by Young America for their only comment towards that was I should contact him even though I tried several times and he never responded back . Do not trust these people do not rent from them find a different company. Nothing but trouble the entire company is ran by college students nobody knows what's going on you will never get correct answers. They will only agree to your terms as long as you're signing a lease and then once you sign that lease they won't stick to the agreement.
If you ever go to Young America Realty, ask for Saige Anderson. She is a great representive of the realty company. She put her time and commitment in finding my apartment. Saige had a lot of patience, great feedback, and dedication to her work. She answered every detail to my questions! I 100% recommend going to Young America and asking for Saige Anderson.
Great company and have had nothing but good experiences whilst living here. Michael Mazurek always proves to be helpful whenever I have any questions or concerns!
Patrick Kinsella helped my fraternity get a ton of people set up with apartments to live in for next year. The customer service is really good and the people there are helpful.
Horrible experience, their residential department is full of rude and petulant people, if you can don't bother with them. HONESTLY, we were good tenants but at check out they treated horribly bad; up to that point at least they were decent.
The staff at Young America is fantastic! They all are willing to work with you individually to find you the best apartment available with all of the features you are looking for. In the Spring semester they still have a ton of spaces left and are extremely helpful making you feel important to them even when it's busy in the office!
Worst realty company in all of Illinois. They are terrible and shut off utilities if your 2 weeks late with rent. The apartments are priced above market value always
Both semesters I've been lucky enough to work with Justin McElroy!
I had a great experience with Young America. Jennifer Janssen was the agent who helped us. She answered a lot of our questions and was always ready with helpful information. She made the process of finding an apartment simple and easy.
Very unresponsive customer service/accounts. Danielle at accounts never picks up her phone and does not respond to voicemails. Andrew took weeks to send a receipt that I asked for on service completed. It is completely unprofessional to treat residents like that, and I will not be renting with YA again.
Young America has great service, everything was super quick and efficient. If you go there ask for Connor he's a great guy and will make sure you're all set to go
Always quick with service and maintenance. I have never had a problem with the staff.
I've only dealt with one other leasing agency and YA is by far the better of the two. I've rented from them both as a student and now in their residential division. Management has been great.... maintenance is touch and go depending on who you get. Regardless all my issues have been solved. I'm not living in one of their nicer places but it's a good apartment for the rent we pay. If we move again before buying a house we will be leasing with them again.
Worse place to live. Can t wait to move out!
So my roommates and I laid complaints about another roommate stealing our food items. By the way, she s not a clean person so we don t bother involving her with cleanups in the apartment, we pretty much just let her be. But she won t let us be. She started taking our food and would deny it, we figured she probably needed help and we decided to help her out with some items. And when she s caught in the act, she would say she was going to replace it.
We finally talked to her and she admitted stealing, we asked her to give us a list of items she needed so we could get them, she said all was good with her, only for her to turnaround and continue stealing.
Visited and even emailed YA about this, hoping maybe we could get keys to lock our bedrooms or whatever solutions they give in such situations but we re asked to rather have dinner and talk things over or set rules. Does she sound like someone that respects boundaries?
With no background checks, YA just pairs you up with crazy people. So, except you re looking to live with crazy people, I won t recommend.
Ps: This is me keeping it short.
Edit:
I m not sure if the reply from YA to my comment is an attempt to undermine my review but ... I am in the database because I don t have any other last names. Also, I already emailed Andrew and he told me that ( have dinner ); even when I mentioned offering to get groceries for her. I mean, how do you make an offer without a conversation.
I just need YA to understand that we wouldn t come to them if we knew we could handle it, because we tried but it s been going on for way too long.
Final Edit:
Since she couldn t be asked to move, we were offered the choice of another apartment, which we gladly took despite the trouble of packing stuff up. Good efforts on their part.
Great company . Didn't know where I wanted to live or what my options were & Saige Anderson went out of her way to make me find my perfect aprtment . Such great customer service
I had an issue with my Fob regarding access to the various facilities within Lodge 1 and 2. I went into Young America and worked with Paige, in which she got the issue resolved within 15 minutes. Thanks, Paige!
I live in the sorority house right now and will be signing for an apartment very soon! Since we are a big group young america let's us sign early and even gives us a discount because we have more than 20 people signing up! My good friend Melissa works there so I know that Young America staff rocks!
Delaney Goss is the best!!! She made my first leasing process so simple and easy! 10/10
My experience with Young America has been great and smooth sailing. I recently worked with Brittany Idler in signing my first lease and she made sure I was well aware of everything I was signing for and all the benefits included and made me feel comfortable asking any kinds of questions. I would recommend young America Realty to anyone looking for quality living.
Give way too low of an allowance for electric, gas and water. Met our max by January (ends in May) when we are fairly frugal people when it comes to that stuff.
Lived with YA for 3 years. Apartment was great, everything worked well. Even when something broke or wasn't working, maintenance always handled requests quickly. Would highly recommend.
Whether it is the perfect home away from home or all the free gear, Young America is always there to give you exactly what you're looking for! The leasing agents helped me find the perfect apartment and made it such a stress free experience.
Melissa was by tri towers and handing out a bunch of free t-shirts. I thought it was going to be a catch where I had to do something for the shirt, but she just informed me about open leasing and gave me a bunch of free stuff!
Great customer service. Was timely and professional. Great price with a great value.
Non helpful maintenance and totally disrespectful managerial staff. Over priced units.
I had been with them for a previous house and they had very fast maintenance service and that cause me to stay with them again. While everyone is very nice, they communicate poorly, which causes a bunch of money loss on the renter side. I More
I have been renting with my last two children from Young America over many years. Most recently my daughter Kelly Sarhage has rented a great apartment with reasonable pricing. They have been incredibly attentive to your questions and needs. Attentive to additional parking needed as well. We had only one incident of small issue a few years back that they went above and over in satisfying us with the head Maintenance person truly interested in listening and resolving any concerns we had. He contacted us back immediately which made all the difference. I know others have not had that service with different realtors. I would highly recommend looking at them for upcoming apartment needs. There are others in town however they really go above and beyond meeting needs
I wish more companies would hire people like Tom, such a nice helpful guy!
Thought they were foo in the beginning, turned out to be not so bad. 4 stars.
Terrible service and management from attractive properties.
If the complex wasn't built in the past two years, then everything in those complexes are made of the cheapest materials possible.
Really friendly staff and really prompt maintenance.
My experience with young America has been great! An agent i d Like to recommend is Haley, she s very personable and has been able to answer any questions of mine. Good job YA!
Young America bent over backwards to correct an unfortunate situation with a managed rental property. They researched and presented alternatives then followed thru until the situation was resolved. They did a great job! Thank you.
I ve been housing with Young America for the past two semesters and I have had both good and bad experiences. I moved into my apartment spring 2020 and the refrigerator was not functioning, warm and full of mold. Granted, maintenance was able to replace it, but only after about two weeks of using a mini fridge for my and my roommates groceries. Secondly, in this same apartment, our washing machine began leaking and dirty water stained the carpet in the living room. After they replaced the machine, they place continued to smell and at the end of my lease, they tried to charge my security deposit for the residue left in the carpet. I had to dispute them to receive my full deposit. Other work orders I have are typically taken care of swiftly but those instances were very unfavorable.
I really enjoyed my time with Young America. The staff was always helpful and my apartment was extremely nice.
Young America is a great leasing company! Will Harmon helped me find my apartment and is always willing to help us out with things!
Had some slight complications from the beginning. Long story short, moving your baby into her first place is well........::sigh:: We got to the condo discovered several things that were not ok. We tinkered back and forth with a "maintenance" guy (that came with the owner of the building if you will) NOT with YA, we were getting no where. So I called YA got a hold of Randy and his team. Within 24 hours EVERY need we had was met. Randy was fantastic. Very attentive, insightful, caring and professional. From Christian taking my phone call, poor guy worked for his money that day, to Pat (maintenance) and his team, we were very pleased. communication was superb with in the entire staff. They definitely have gained a confident and happy client here!!
Young America stepped in and went above and beyond!!! I felt so comfortable leaving my baby in their hands. Would highly suggest them!!
Horrible company. Takes advantage of college kids by charging you additional money at the end of the lease knowing it isn t worthwhile to get a lawyer.
I have leased with Young America this 2016-2017 school year and couldn't be happier. My apartment was clean and in great condition. When it comes to any issues that occur they answer maintenance request quickly and always provide cheerful customer service. I couldn't recommend a friendlier and more accommodating company.
This is the best realty company I have rented from!
Young America has been my past housing provider and have had a great experience with them. Tom is a good asset for them as a leasing agent
Young America has done a great with my sons apartment Scott in the main office is wonderful to work with
We have absolutely loved our time with Young America properties! Any maintenance issues we ve had, maintenance has been 100% on top of and very responsive, and even a courtesy follow up! We have talked to the property manager and Jeff is very kind and caring! Our neighbors are friendly & feel like family. 101 Northfield is a great family friendly property! We plan to inquire on a bigger property within young America for our growing family! 100% recommend Young America Properties!
Patrick is a knowledgable leasing agent who enjoys his work and management at Young America.
Justin McElroy is a fantastic leasing agent! He is so dedicated to his job and truly makes sure his clients land a place they love. He takes the extra step to try to help others find a great place to live, and he would know well because he lives with Young America himself! Young America would be a great place to live and I would recommend it to those considering living with them.
Young America is always responsive when there is a concern and have made living at my place very easy.
Jenny- Current Resident
Young America overall has amazing customer service. I was assisted by Nick Wilson he was great and beyond helpful, his eager to help and transparency ultimately made the entire process of looking at places great.
Very good landlords. They are always helpful and respond quickly to whatever we need. We have been with them for over 8 years now
Justin McElroy has grown as a salesman thanks to Young America. This has helped him with his future career in sales. He has proven to help many of his clients find a wonderful apartment in the Bloomington/Normal area. I highly recommend him and Young America. If you want someone who is responsible and hard working, look for Justin at Young America.
Super friendly and helpful! Locations are great for students. We had a great all around experience!
Nick Wilson was my realtor while I was searching for apartments, he was very flexible and helpful. I knew exactly what kind of deal I was getting and I would highly recommend Nick.
Never had any problems with young america, and maintenance is usually extremely quick!
Tara was very helpful to my roommates and I and even to my mom who had a lot of hesitations and questions about the lease. We resigned at our apartment for next year. I would recommend young america to anyone!
Young America Realty is by far the best realty agency to go to here in Bloomington-Normal. They have amazing customer service. They are always willing to work with their clients to resolve any issue that may arise. They do a wonderful job at listening to your input and will do everything they can to facilitate your needs. Maintenance is always a very strong category for them. If you ever report a problem in your apartment that needs to be fixed, they will take care of it at a very timely fashion. I definitely recommend giving your business to YAR!
As a sophomore at Illinois State University, I had to live in the dorms for my second year but I needed to sign my lease for my junior year at some point. I heard many good things about Young America and my brother lived in their apartments when he was here a couple years ago. Since I was in ILSTU Snow Crew, which is an RSO here, I knew that Cole Salamone was a leasing agent for Young America. So after my RSO meeting I talked to Cole about potentially living with Young America. Immediately, Cole directed me to the website and allowed me to find apartments that fit my requirements. I was impressed and Cole continued to help me until I signed on September 26th. Because I was in an RSO, I was able to sign early and plus I got the apartment I wanted. Young America just started the RSO signing early and I believe it helps out a lot. I really appreciate the help from Cole and all the members at Young America for making my experience easy and painless!
Even though I did not lease an apartment, Nick Wilson was a huge help in trying to help me find what i need. I highly recommend Young America as the customer service is just unmatched and they made everything as simple as possible!
Patrick Kinsella has been a huge help to myself and my fraternity. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and honest. Definitely one of the best people on staff that I ve interacted with.
I live in a Young America apartment and love getting all of the free stuff from them! Last week I attended the open house and Melissa gave me a t-shirt, a tank, and also Avantis gondola! Whenever I put in a work order to maintenance, they are here within 24 hours!
Run as fast as you can. This company is ruthless. They will sue at the drop of a hat. They're very quick to drop off eviction notices, but yet if you try to contact them, they do not even speak to you about it. Scott Lee, in particular, wants nothing to do with speaking to tenants. Their lawyers specialize in how to use capitalism to their advantage and they are laughing all the way to the bank about how easy it is. Check the court records...literally on a daily basis they are taking people to court. You'll get by fine if you're perfect, otherwise, good luck with these douchebags.
We signed a lease to live in one of Young America s properties last minute due to COVID, and it has been a decent transition from living in student housing to living in an apartment. We have had issues with the air conditioning, bugs, and other maintenance issues, and the maintenance workers have been overall helpful and very quick to coming to our unit. Our unit was dirty when moving in, but not too awful. Probably the best leasing company for Illinois State, and has a lot of options for different budgets!
Great service here during the time I was living with them. They made my life hell though the moment the lease was up.
This is my second year signing with Young America, I've had a great experience with young America especially with the help from Jen and Dylan. They both were very helpful through the whole process, and were very courteous during my numerous visits. Jen was helpful answering my questions at the counter. I will definitely be using young America again.
We live very close to ISU's campus and the building is completely furnished, with great accessibility. If we ever have an issue the maintenance team is responsive and usually comes by either the day we put in the order or the next!
Been living with YA for 2 years and overall they have some really great staff members, The last person I dealt with was Connor and he was very helpful and got things sorted out for me.
Rented with this company from Fall 2016 to Spring 2017, and the leasing agents who helped us find a place were patient with me and my roommate in terms of what we needed. On a rainy day, a leasing agent offered to give me a ride back to my apartment when I went into the office to ask for something.
The actual unit I stayed in was a remodeled family unit, and for what it was (and the price point), I felt we got a pretty good deal. YA sends a monthly report of how much utilities tenants are using (in our case, since we had built in utilities) and I found this to be really useful in making sure we didn't go over. That was definitely something the competitors didn't have (I have used other leasing companies in the past).
Move-out requirements were not overly demanding and made sense, which I really appreciated, because the leasing company I used for 2015-16 required tenants to do ridiculous things like steam the carpet and other things when it's just student apartments, not some luxury condo.
All in all, would recommend.
Young America Realty has been very helpful and has made my living experience at Illinois State University a positive one. I have never had a problem with getting a problem fixed within my apartment. Darien Jacobs has been a huge help to me as he has been my main point of contact when I needed help with something within a short amount of time and always provided me with all the necessary information regarding my question.
I had a great experience with YA realty, Rayna Dahl was especially helpful with helping me find an apartment to best suit my needs.
I'm a good friend of one of the workers at Young America, named Connor Small. From talking to him just about every single day, I hear about YA daily and how much of a great company this is. I do not live in Normal or the surrounding area, but everything I have heard from Connor has been nothing but positivity.
Although I found a dead mouse in my apartment and black mold it was all worth it because Darien Jacobs works there!!
Also, you making us move out on graduation by noon is really inconvenient and you should consider being less horrible as a realty company....but again Darien is cool
Have been a resident of young america for 2 years and they have always had the best service. The people who work there are so kind and responsive and I have loved their service! Thanks YA<3
my good friend connor works there and he talks about it all the time! he seems to really enjoy it!
Have not had any problems so far and our apartment was clean and well kept when we moved in. Good experience so far!
