I would choose 0 if it was an option. I understand that it is not the fault of the staff at the welfare office for the system being set up so you fail no matter what. The staff at the office was not mean , but the only 2 expenses they seemed to think people have is rent and heat because that is the only 2 she asked about. Sorry they are not all I have. I think that it messed up that the government feels that after I pay my rent, car payment (used car), car insurance, electric (which reaches $100-$130 if i use the heating system in the apartment and my apartment is the size of a shoe box), cell phone (prepaid) and gas (monthly for car), and my school loan payment they seem to think that with the remaining $389 for the month that I should be able to afford health insurance (even tho last 2 years at tax time they agree I do not make enough to afford it, but somehow when I apply for medical assistance I'm told I make too much money am I the only one that sees an issue here). You want to require me to have it, agree I do not make enough to afford it at tax time, but when I apply for assistance I make too much really?, food for 2 sometimes 3, household item (cleaners, toothpaste, etc), car maintenance, dental (I pay for dental insurance , but cannot afford to still go), village reality ( we did not pay last months rent because we needed that money to move. We dealt with bodily waste coming thru doorway between our living room and kitchen for 6 months and they refused to fix it til we did not pay them. Same day they filed an eviction they covered up the huge all that resulted from them not coming out to fix it. I also owe the state of Maryland back taxes (which results from issues I had with the MVA pretty much the whole time I lived there. They keep saying they mail checks to me, but I never receive them). They seem to think I can pay all of this with $389 a month. I feel the system screws me over every which way they can. I feel it is very messed up that they triple tax me (anyone that works) and they use this as your income ( how is money that goes to the government part of my income? how are taxes I pay not considered an expense you take automatically.). And why do I pay for others to have health insurance, food (have some by not paying bills) and warmth when I do not have these things (I am not trying to put anybody down). I also think it is messed up that I will qualify for everything if I have children that I know I cannot afford. I love being punished for this. I feel because I am smart enough to know I cannot afford them to not have them, but they will reward the people that keep having them when they know they can't financially provide for them (they qualify for everything). Amazing how inflation has increased greatly and average income has barely increased (not even half of what inflation has in very many years). Maybe if the overpaid government could better balance our economy system people would not need so much help. It is messed up that by the state's standards I am below poverty , but I only qualify for $38 in food stamps. Please tell me how this works. I am already highly embarrassed that I have a bachelor's degree and even need assistance. I DO NOT EVEN LIKE ASKING FOR HELP FROM ANYONE. I am also the kind of person that when I have it and someone else doesn't I help them and expect NOTHING, BUT THANK YOU IN RETURN.

If I could rate a 0 I would.

If I could rate a 0 I would.
Let's start with calling in. The automated answering machine works just as well as any other, however just to have somebody answer to redirect you is a minimum of a 25 minute wait.
When calling in for a caseworker , never expect to be answered by a person. Chances are 10 to 1 you will have to leave a message, which are supposed to be returned in 2-3 business days. I've always had to call back in from no response and continue that annoying process.
Next walk-in services are semi-organized, but a lot of nonsense. The typical take a number have a seat process
You are not specified as to which area of the waiting room you are to go to. The staff demeanor is almost always rude. ( kind of that "I hate my job, and I hate you for coming in" expression.)
And again never expect to meet with a caseworker in person.
Food assistance (snap) is typically an easy fix at the office. But when looking for help or questions about health insurance, never expect anything to be done within a timely manner. Or even within that year.
The office is cramped, one bathroom and dirty. Too many people in need without enough people or staff to help/serve.

The workers have attitude most of the time. You can never reach your case worker. Don't bother calling leaving a message they never return it. The staff never want to help out or answer questions. The wait be long too. Most of the workers are Talking or Just on computer pretending to be busy. It an outrage how they treat people. They need some major improvements. If they don't like there job then they should find a job that for them and give the jobs to the people who are ready to work!

Workers helped me get medical and food benefits. With do many in need, I do not know how they get it done. Loved the immediate replacement of a broken foodstamps card. Thankful my state has help with Medicare payments for financially eligible and Heat Aid thru LIHEAP,.

It's not the place, it's the parking. Only a handful of spots for CAO. Everything else is reserved. Construction on the street has taken parking away. There's people just waiting to boot and tow your car. It's freaking ridiculous. People wonder why you don't want to go downtown.

I had an accident, need shoulder replaced, damaged nerve bundle, paralyzed hand. I turned 59 on January 10th. I have a 401k that I have no acess to, has NOT been released to me. Was told by Mrs. Bowman that I am over qualified for 50$ a week, because on June 10th when I'm 59 and a half these funds will be released to me .I will have to take a 40 cent hit on each dollar. What am I supposed to do Governor Wolf?

Well, lets just say I will be exercising my rights. I had a terrible experience with Ms. Cox. I asked supervisor to NEVER allow her to touch my case again. Ignorant, selfish and rude as they come. She played the "I never received anything card" when I had proof of mailing, faxing, going in, in person and she gave me the wrong email address to scan and email it in. I had to call the office to get the correct one. I tried to present all of this to her supervisor and she did not meet with me. Later I get a letter stating that my children did not qualify for insurance for the month of February (even with a child with chronic illness) and said I had to re-enroll the kids. I sat down and handled all of my calls to make sure my kids received the same insurance and what do you know? I didn't even have to make the calls, she pretty much did it on purpose to waste my time because nothing in the system has changed. I am a working parent that unfortunately has a child with serious needs and unfortunately need the help from a department that cant do their job at times, meaning someone like Cox. But, its ok... I can only imagine how miserable she is.

Being a caseworker I often have to call for assistance help for my clients, It is absolutely ridiculous that I have to call in several times, or wait on hold for 20+ minutes to receive help for simple questions and not even receive an answer from a human being!!!

Most of my clients do not have the time or patience to call in, nor do I but I am attempting to help them...

You guys need to fix your phone system because this is a disgrace. Also if you guys are going to keep this crappy system, at least play some music instead of having the same woman repeat the same sentence a million times..

It would be really nice if anybody there would actually answer the phone.
67 minutes on hold till I finally gave up. Tried again and again. Finally reached a human who promised to call me back when she figured out what the letter they sent to me meant.
Three weeks later and still no return call, and another 1 1/2 hours on hold with no end in sight. Horrible, non existent "customer service".
