Helpful to people but inefficient government at it's worst. Super long waits and seemingly unsanitary waiting areas. Not a fun place to be but great for people in need of services. The staff is mostly very nice but never enough of them working.

You need to get there bright and early in the morning if you can fill out your application before hand you can be seen and out by noon some friendliness there but not a lot please remember you're dealing with the type of public that they have but it still gives them no reason to be nasty to people coming in they are in need of help

I needed help getting an EBT issue straightened out. Suffice it to say I was not presenting them with a routine request. They get 5 stars because one worker went above and beyond what I expected. She could have taken a fall back position and insisted I was at the mercy of the 'system' and would just have to wait. Instead she made a case to her superior and championed me to the front.
Her name was Raquel. She is a shining example of excellent customer service. York County should be happy they have such a valuable employee.

In all fairness, these people have to deal with many people with bad attitudes every day and in most cases the people they have to serve are getting more for doing nothing then they are getting paid to work there every day. So if you have to spend a couple of hours to get better benefits for doing nothing than the workers may be getting for serving you, be grateful and patient. I think they do a fantastic job considering the circumstances!

being on the bottom rung of a social ladder isn't any fun. in fact it's really hard work to accomplish anything and i had a taste of itwhen welfare took me for me and helped the best way they can to put me on my feet again. It's not easy, but help as yorkers know comes in small quantities. thanks for thelift ss. it was worth it.

The ladies at the reception desk were friendly, professional, and very helpful. I asked a lot of questions and they answered them all. Thank you for helping me deal with a difficult situation gracefully.

I had researched mobility programs that foster sustainability and met with a program coordinator to discuss the pheasability and implementation of them. My research directed me there. Albeit, the knowledge base not honed in to the topic i had prepared to discuss but were ameanable to research. There was a program specialiast well versed in federal funding made readily available for our meeting.

They refuse to take phone calls after 45 mins before they close. Hope noone lands a job and needs to cancel benefits. God forbid you call during open office hours. "Your party is unavailable. Try your call again later"

If charges for fraud are filed due to your lack of ability to answer your phones. I will be using both this and the email i sent as prof it is YOUR negligence and not mine. Maybe give someone in the waiting room your job. Im sure they would be willing to WORK for a paycheck. Your employees clearly do not.

Service is pretty fast, not a long wait time. Staff is somewhat professional. Only issue is the system is not efficient. They'll call you and tell you to come in & you don't need to bring anything, and when you do, they'll tell you " you're missing paperwork and beef to come back"
I'm not sure if some of the staff isn't experienced, but the system they use is outdated and inefficient.

Positive experience..I only waited 4 minutes. My case worker was pleasant and supportive. She helped me with every benefit I was eligible for and I received my benefits that same day. I have never needed the help before and I was and am grateful for such agencies and the people behind them.

For a State (Federal) organization, they suck business and Human Service wise. They (unlike any of the states' federal agencies I have dealt with) don't include bills/ necessities that a person/family has to pay as ADULTS when needing ASSISTANCE FIR EMERGENCIES/ LIVING!! THEY LIKE THE NORTH AMERICAN GOVERNMENT WANT TO TO STRUGGLE AND *SURVIVE* SOLELY ON THEM, NOT LIVE!!!

Literally told something different every time I call. I m on medication and my account has been off for months through their negligence and misinformation. Why is healthcare not just free? Put my taxes into something useful for once.

They loose too many important paperwork. I had went in February because of being promoted at work and getting a slight pay increase. I took paystubs and at the time I didn't know who my caseworker was and the lady at the front desk said to write my name and last 4 of my social on everything including the envelope and put it into the drop box. I did exactly that. I never received a letter or call about being cut off so I assumed everything was ok. I get a letter in June requesting more paystubs and I did that. Now I got a letter stating that I owe money for fraud. I went in there to appeal it because I did report my income change and they said they have no record of receiving the paperwork in February. It's not my fault it got misplaced. I don't feel I should have to pay. Now they scan paperwork through which is a good idea but there must have been too many paperwork lost for them to start this.

Never had a good experience here, but given the nature of the location...rude people, dirty people, really lousy parking, rude security ect. There is no dignity here, and they make sure you know it.

The service you get is Fair to Good and Back.

The service you get is Fair to Good and Back.
They NEVER tell you EXACTLY, WHO your caseworker IS. You have to find out on your own after asking a bunch of people.
When you fax your paperwork it takes almost as long as if you had mailed it and they even wait a few days before actually LOOKING at it. So if you fax your stuff two days before due date for whatever reason? They most likely will not bother to get to it for a couple days. If THEY wait and its PAST your due date, they STILL say YOU are late and your app is denied. So you have to make sure you know ALL the tricks.

The lady at the front desk was highly rude and very racist. She was trying to get me to take the application home to fill out and bring back the next day where as I needed to be seen THAT DAY! She then spoke (in Spanish) to another couple suggesting they stay and be seen! If it wasn't for the gentleman who worked with me and awarded my foodstamps immediately, I would have given you one star! Lol!
