I would choose 0 if it was an option. I understand that it is not the fault of the staff at the welfare office for the system being set up so you fail no matter what. The staff at the office was not mean , but the only 2 expenses they seemed to think people have is rent and heat because that is the only 2 she asked about. Sorry they are not all I have. I think that it messed up that the government feels that after I pay my rent, car payment (used car), car insurance, electric (which reaches $100-$130 if i use the heating system in the apartment and my apartment is the size of a shoe box), cell phone (prepaid) and gas (monthly for car), and my school loan payment they seem to think that with the remaining $389 for the month that I should be able to afford health insurance (even tho last 2 years at tax time they agree I do not make enough to afford it, but somehow when I apply for medical assistance I'm told I make too much money am I the only one that sees an issue here). You want to require me to have it, agree I do not make enough to afford it at tax time, but when I apply for assistance I make too much really?, food for 2 sometimes 3, household item (cleaners, toothpaste, etc), car maintenance, dental (I pay for dental insurance , but cannot afford to still go), village reality ( we did not pay last months rent because we needed that money to move. We dealt with bodily waste coming thru doorway between our living room and kitchen for 6 months and they refused to fix it til we did not pay them. Same day they filed an eviction they covered up the huge all that resulted from them not coming out to fix it. I also owe the state of Maryland back taxes (which results from issues I had with the MVA pretty much the whole time I lived there. They keep saying they mail checks to me, but I never receive them). They seem to think I can pay all of this with $389 a month. I feel the system screws me over every which way they can. I feel it is very messed up that they triple tax me (anyone that works) and they use this as your income ( how is money that goes to the government part of my income? how are taxes I pay not considered an expense you take automatically.). And why do I pay for others to have health insurance, food (have some by not paying bills) and warmth when I do not have these things (I am not trying to put anybody down). I also think it is messed up that I will qualify for everything if I have children that I know I cannot afford. I love being punished for this. I feel because I am smart enough to know I cannot afford them to not have them, but they will reward the people that keep having them when they know they can't financially provide for them (they qualify for everything). Amazing how inflation has increased greatly and average income has barely increased (not even half of what inflation has in very many years). Maybe if the overpaid government could better balance our economy system people would not need so much help. It is messed up that by the state's standards I am below poverty , but I only qualify for $38 in food stamps. Please tell me how this works. I am already highly embarrassed that I have a bachelor's degree and even need assistance. I DO NOT EVEN LIKE ASKING FOR HELP FROM ANYONE. I am also the kind of person that when I have it and someone else doesn't I help them and expect NOTHING, BUT THANK YOU IN RETURN.
