If this is a gym aimed towards teenagers, why can't we do anything without having a parent present? My friend (a used to be member) and I ( a current member) tried to go today, and when my friend wanted to renew her membership, the lady behind the desk rudely snapped that she couldn't do so without HER parent being physically there! A phone call to her mother wasn't even allowed. I guess parents can't work these days, because having them physically there is CRUCIAL to being able to renew a membership. And what about those of us who carpool? The lady kept pushing that a waiver must be signed, without any explanation as to what waiver she was referencing. This happens quite frequently, where we can't enter without an adult, even though it's a gym for all ages. Absolutely ridiculous.

My daughter plays volleyball here and this is the most unorganized place I have ever experienced. The one positive thing here are most of the coaches are awesome. The communication however by the Y staff is horrible. Last session they cancelled my daughter's last game without any notice. I had family coming into town to attend this game. We found out after showing up for the game. It took them more than a week to reschedule it and when they did, there were no end of season photos and it was at a very inconvenient time. We pay for our children to play sports here and they are treated like this is the least important sport/event that occurs here. This season didn't start off much better. Again, we do like our coach, however the shirts all came in too small, so now each game we are stretching out her shirt so she can wear it. The games began more than two weeks behind schedule, so now we are having games two times a week to make up for it. These games are scheduled again at an inconvenient time. Our last weeks game, no referee showed up, so we played with no whistle and had to have a little boy keep score for the teams. Again I had family attending and they asked, they don't have referees here? This place has now embarrassed me twice with my family wondering where I have my daughter playing volleyball. To top things off there is a coach that I have been told has been coaching for years here and he walks around interfering with our coaches coaching and changes the rules of the games, which has completely confused these young girls who are just learning the rules of the game. My daughter who had been serving overhand perfectly has now been instructed by him (who is not her coach) to use her fist. She now does not know how to properly serve and can't get the ball over the net. As soon as she is a little older, we will have her play somewhere else where they take this a little more seriously. I could kind of understand some of these issues if this were free, but it is not.

Becoming an unsafe place. Basketball courts outside are awesome but now you see fights breaking out and people smoking weed. Im so dissapointed that the garbage has somehow found its way to this area. I see it only getting worse if the grounds are not patrolled showing a presence of law enforcement.

for several years we have clients of Ymca, in this time almost 4 years I have had as my personal trainer to Graci, she for his professionalism has been the only reason for which I have kept paying his services and membership. But the sad and unfortunate state of the teams lead me to the situation of telling Graci no more. I do not understand the reason that motivates managers to direct equipment repositioning and other expenses as if the YMCA were located in a very low-income city. I regret to say the above but it is not possible to have this GYM running with old equipment and in poor condition,

Great place, always busy. Just enrolled my daughter to her first level swimming class. Teachers are punctual and caring. 2 instructors for 8 kids once a week. This location has a large campus with indoor and out door sports with childcare too. Staff has been really supportive and courteous.

Good for family membership but it is often over crowded at peak times which is why I left. Classes are too packed and you have to fight for a spot, not what you want before a yoga or Pilates class!
My kids have been in the swim team there which is excellent if you are looking for a competitive team. The swim lessons look good too and are reasonably priced.
We have tried the basketball program with regular games but the coaching could be a little better. Good for beginners or an introduction to a sport though!

Pros: Clean facility, nice equipment, moderate membership price, no contract, good child care center.

Cons: excessively crowded (sign up in advance for classes), swimming area is poorly managed (more details below), front desk staff acts inconvenienced if you ask them for information (like are their any kids exercise classes?, website is not informative (I know because that's what the front desk staff referred me to), child care times didn't work for my family, kids swim lessons overpriced for what you get (private lessons were suggested after 4 weeks of group lessons $$$), you have to cancel membership in person 10 days before the automatic charge or they keep another month of fees ($$$).

The water play area looks so enticing. I was very excited when we first joined. It turns out that every inch of both pools and the splash pad are set aside for lessons, practice, or camps. The rule is that they have to keep one swim area open for members who just want to take their kids swimming, but we were mostly sent from one area to the next until they "let" us swim on the stairs. Also, be prepared to swim with your child if you have a little one. The splash pad is frequently shut down leaving once again, only the stairs or the little pool if you are lucky, but you can't sit on the stairs while your little one plays next to you, because you are required to be in the water with them.
The ironic thing is that I have never seen so many "managers" in suits wandering around a swimming pool in my life. I was referred to them more than once when no one new where my kids and I were allowed to swim.

Actually, I am a little sad. I used to be a big fan of YMCA when I lived in Central Florida, and I wanted to support them down here, but they are just another workout place.

I am both a parent and a volunteer coach. I've had the pleasure of working under German Perea and Jeff Crowley this season. I am extremely pleased at how the sports programs are being managed. Their leadership is excellent! I look forward to our continued success.

I love the gym but what I see and do not like for years is people that stack the weights on the machine and when they are finished just leave the weights on the machine for the next person to remove them that is not fair why don t the Y assign a person specifically to watch and see who s leaving the weights and have them remove it I also noticed that the women that have the responsibility to remove them has a very difficult time just myself and I am sure more members observation. Thanks

This gym was good until it was renovated.. now it s so full and no one from the staff does anything about the young crowd playing with the machines.. someone will get injured and it s extremely annoying to work out with a group of young adults playing with the machine.

Other people working out are very rude when you are using a machine and the staff is extremely unhelpful.

They have an indoor basketball court but they use it for anything other than basketball. If you want to play basketball here, you either have to wake up at 5 am and play til 8, or play from 12 pm to 1 pm. That's it.

The staff has always been very polite and professional but the problem is the gym itself. My family and I have been members for years and it ALWAYS smells like feet (of course a gym won't smell nice but it literally smells like they never do thorough cleaning/disinfecting, or clean at all for that matter). With the exception of treadmills and machines of that sort, all other equipment is scattered all over the gym instead of having designated areas for the body part you would like to focus on, not to mention that after 5pm you will see dumbells and such all over the place and no one seems to care or put them back where they belong. Also, the equipment tends to be male-oriented or for women over 6ft. Overcrowding is an every day issue (unless you go at 6am).

The facility and amenities are awesome the only issue that prevents me to give it a 5 start is the staff at the front they are not very welcoming to members very rude actually the YMCA managers should work on this is a very important fact in my opinion.

The YMCA in Weston is "OK" . The basketballs they have are wore out, the gym always smells bad, the hand cleaner is gone most of the time as well as wipes for the equipment. Overcrowding is an issue, but that is the case for most if not all gyms like this. I like going, but its just an OK place overall. Staff is friendly.

In today's environment, I'm happy that my child can attend a camp that allows my child to play alongside a limited number of children outdoors. What this pandemic has made apparent to us is that our child needs the interaction of other children. The YMCA is helping us achieve that goal in an environment that is as safe as we can achieve these days.

If you are going to the YMCA in Weston now I have not been to the gym but I have gone to the pool now this is my experience.

First of all I have to walk through a family locker room to get to the pool (no offense but it's gross)

They barely allow u to do anything at the pool u can't go underwater and hold your breath, u can't dive in a 7ft pool the only place u can ACUALLY go in the pool is the kids play area it's is very small and about every single kid pees there the other places are for the swim team and for kids learning to swim. Oh did I mention you can't eat. *sigh* disappointing but true if I can rate 0 stars I would.

Our family has been a member of the Weston YMCA si...

Our family has been a member of the Weston YMCA since 2009. We are an active family of five. Although, the two oldest are pretty much out of the house, now, my husband and I continue to enjoy use of the gym.
Pros: They have a lot of nice staff members. The Family membership and extra fee associated sign-up classes are VERY affordably priced compared to Midtown Athletic Club which is really the only other comparable competitor. We have signed each one of our kids up for a sport, a camp and swim lessons at some point or another. There are great opportunities for teens. Ex: At 16yrs old our daughter took the Life guard class at the YMCA and was then hired. This gave her the opportunity to work at the Weston Y for 2 yrs during high school and two other Y's in Orlando during the first two 2yrs of college. The Y, also, gave her the opportunity to train as a swim instructor for a discounted price of $20 as an employee. Throughout her first two years of college used both these certifications and was always hired to return to the Weston Y during the summers as I've seen other returning college kids be rehired as well. All three of our children have independently come with others friends that family's had memberships and worked out in the gym after they turned 13yrs. old. I feel this YMCA fosters good, clean, socially healthy habits for teens. Also, Cypress Bay swim team and Water Polo teams practice here which is great to watch from the pool deck. I'm sure watching them inspired my daughter early on as she played in the children's section. She joined both Cypress swim team and Water Polo. At some point while your working out you will run into your kids parent or parents and connect whether it is a brief hello or a 30 minute conversation. Between the gym and pool it has been updated at least a few times during the last 10yrs.
CONS: I gave it only 4 stars because, yes, our family has also, noticed some of the complaints that others have reported to be true as well. I do wish a few of the staff had better customer service skills and the gym is too crowded during certain hours, mostly, during the school year. The sports teams seem to struggle at times because either they can't get parents to volunteer coaching or the sports director isn't very organized. we had one poor experience out of many great experiences with the sports.
Overall, I definitely would recommend any young family to join. You can always quit.

FATAL!!! Totally irresponsible. I have been sending emails for 3 weeks without receiving an answer for the cancellation of my subscription, they continued loading the membership to my card and when they finally responded they claim not to have received any email before the payment date and asking me for support, after sending them The support followed the excuses for not reimbursing my money for services that made it impossible for me to continue enjoying. totally unacceptable and irresponsible !!

Love the gym and heated pool, very affordable for the entire family, another "plus" of living in #Weston. Staff is very nice and helpful, brand new machines and equipment, late afternoon weekdays are crowded, ideally try early afternoon or early morning, still plenty of machine and free weights...so get off the couch and get to work. Mens locker rooms really needs updating;-)

From unlimited gym time with trainers standing by for questions, to a plethora of activities and classes all thrown in for no extra price and a price that makes you feel like you're stealing it all. This place is truly incredible, I'm honestly surprised that more people don't come. THEY NEED TOO!

I drop my son off here every day after he's done with school. The only reason this does not have a five star rating is because I pay a membership for myself and never use it. My son has grown fond of the employees there. One in particular he seems to think is so much cooler than me. I believe his name is Ian. I have thanked him personally for helping my child out while I go to work, but I would also like to share with Google how nice this guy is.
