Extremely cheap. good facilities. good classes. decent hours. swimming pool, bball, soccer, volleyball, weights, machines w/ tvs, rarely ever have to wait. It literally costs for me and my wife (and up to 5 of our non-existent kids) what it would cost for one membership at the lesser NYSC.
The friendliest place! Everything is meticulously clean and very well organized.. I use the swimming pool daily, and I love it. A great staff. A wonderful combination of members, spanning every age and ethnic group.
Good bang for your buck. Not lux, but a good group of people there.
I go to this camp and the counclers don't listen they always have attitude they need good counclers like Mr.ten
A true NYC bargain, One of the cleanest gyms, full length 6 lane lap pool for swimming, serious classes from tai chi to zumba to spinning and yoga (two types). Been a member since it opened and have a citywide membership. Its worth it cause of the AARP discount :). My only complaint is the sauna door need fixing.
I love ymca classes they are very professional special Tony, Emely and the others and Yanet too ah Demetria I give they a 5 star. I miss ymca because they were very helpful for me and the others. I let ymca because I had to moved but I have a nice memorial for those people wish helped me at that time great job.! Oh that was at 273 dawn town. Oh Mark was the best.
The pools are great, but the camp is not great. Not many people are having fun.
The staff were not helpful when they were needed. But, the workout and pool spaces are good.
Family and I are frequently found at the Y working out. Great variety of gym equipment and programs at the Dodge YMCA. Has long hours so it is easily fit into our busy schedules, and the employees are super helpful and nice.
If anyone has a respiratory medical condition, don't go to the Dodge YMCA right now. Someone in management, for whatever reason, made a decision to have the basketball court refinished with toxic polyurethane during normal operating hours two nights ago and yesterday evening.
There was no regard for the paying members ( elderly, pregnant mothers, small children, adults and teenagers) well as the employees. The smell is overwhelming, the air should be tested and members are putting their lives in danger.
I have been going to this Ymca for around 13 years now, and I had a terrible experience on sunday. This is not the first time I felt this way and I have experienced this kind of disorganization the past few months. I understand it is a Ymca and there are a lot of kids that go there on Sunday but what the Y was allowing was inappropriate. I'm fine with the kids yelling and running around the locker rooms. I am fine with them running around the showers, but I am not okay with them being on the tread mills and in th weight lifting area. This is an area just for adult and children should not be allowed. I pay 75 dollars a month to be able to work out, and on a day the gym is packed there should not be little kids playing around and messing around on the machines, when paying members want to use those machines. There was a five year old running and playing on a treadmill, there was another kid just sitting on a bike, there were a bunch of little kids just hanging out on the machines, and worst of all there was a little kid sleeping on one of the weight machines. There were barely any Y employees walking around and the ones who were didnt say anything. This is the adult space. The gymnasium, the classrooms, and pool are the spaces for the children. I wanted to ask an employee what the policy with children were and I had to search high and low to find one. When I asked her about the policy she seemed less than interested and extremely apathetic. She did tell me that the rule was that 12 year olds were allowed in that space with an adult. That's fine but that wasn't the case in this situation. This Y is clearly mismanaged and disorganized. They have no respect for their paying members and do not establish any kind of order in its gym. They are lucky one of these children have not been hurt or worst, because I guarantee you that one of these parents who lets their kids play on these machines like their playground equipment would not be so happy and probably would sue if their kid got hurt. I am very unhappy and seriously considering canceling my membership and going somewhere else.
Surprisingly good YMCA for New York City. Pretty spacious. OK service.

Atlantic location=They jus upgraded the free weights with a new squat rack & leg press - competes well now with 14th st location.

One of the cheaper gyms in Brooklyn, but still a high quality place to work out. Great pool for swimming laps, plus tons of different group classes throughout the day.
I love it here! The staff and instructors are incredibly friendly and helpful. They have all the equipment that I need for my physical therapy (not too common at other gyms) and the machines are mostly new and well-maintained. The locker room, showers, and sauna are always clean and in working order. I usually come around 8:30pm and that's when it starts to be less crowded. Classes can get pretty full, so arrive early.

as I live in brooklyn heights, it is convenient and cheap.
every year conditions get worse.
the staff is incompetent at best. every year I have a problem with their billing department, every year....
children run around unsupervised, in the gym and locker rms.
the elevators are always broken or turned off, on weekends by the janitors.
big gobs of hair clog the shower drains.
the lockers smell of bug spray.
people use the drinking fountains to wash and spit.
customers and employees sit in the saunas in street clothes.
hundreds of people come through the restricted shower area, in their street shoes, bringing in all the dirt and germs from the street.
With large signs explaining the Y rules, people brazenly still do what they want. and disrespect the attendants.
This is a shame, as the location and equipment are good, SAD!
Great gym, tons of classes, with friendly and helpful coaches. I'm not sure what people are talking about regarding the friendliness of the staff as I've found all of them to be very open and helpful.

This is a fairly modern gym, some amenities are old but for the most part everything is current. The pool does not get deeper than 5 ft but is great for lap swimming. They also have a sauna and steam room both of which were not in service last I went but they were handling the problem. The basketball court is nice and community like. Many people use these facilities so beware of overcrowding. Most days this gym is fine.
Lots of gym equipment and super helpful staff. Nice locker rooms with saunas and showers. Love working out in the diverse environment there.

Today we decided as a family to join YMCA and enjoy the swimming pool.. what got ready with my girlfriend and daughter, shw as vert excited to go to a pool.
I get there and ask them about the pool, of we couls use it, we asked about the swimming hut, they told me it was 10$ each, they were busy and only one guy at the front desk, while completing application i asked multiple questions about the pool and activities, he would answer later you can look at the schedule, so i let him finish to later look at it. He charged me 100 initiation fee and 136 for monthly fee. Once we paid, took pictures, over an hour later, we ask again for pool and activities and we started looking at schedule when the last time for Families in the pool was finishing. To start offx they never mentioned me there was very restricted times about using pool with kids, second by then it was to late to use it, we been 2hs there, we paid over $200 and we were denied to take our daughter to the pool, she was crying, all a big mess for my family. Customer service wasnt good at all,we were talking about the pool, i asked to buy the huts for the pool and they do not tell you that you need to wait another day? I asked for a refund, they couldnt give it. I have to wait until Monday, they had no supervisors or Managers.
Honestly i was so excited to find a gym i could go and train while my girlfriend and daughter would enjoy the pool. They ruin my sunday.. now i want my refund, and i am out of gym again, need to find a new one.
Been a member since i turned 19, 5 years ago and i love it. Best equipment, polite staff and managers are all very nice and solved my issues everytime with no headache. Also soccer on Monday and Thursday keeps me happy in life lol

Good place with good pool and very modern. Swim classes for kids are just waste of money. Instructors do very primitive activities and kids are kept in water with luck of movements. We payed for whole sesion and don't see reason to continue. We preffer to go in open time and teach kids ourselves. Unfortunatelly there is no way kids will learn soon in classes like this. We feel they have them " just to have".Or we just had wrong instructors.
I'm never able to book a pool lane. As soon as the booking opens, all the lanes get booked out. There is no penalty for "no show" so some people just make a booking but don't show up. I find it very unfair.
Staffs are nice. Classes are ok. I come here for gym. They just renewed equipments.
Great place to work out: I swim, play basketball and lift. Clean and friendly. Sometimes crowded but that's ok!
I went in to inquire about membership, since I was in the area... The customer service is not good. The guy gave me a blank stare and proceeded to order food. I had to ask him like three times, until he referred me to a catalogue, but never took the initiative to either engage me, or even politely answer any of my questions. No good, was going to join, but nah... Don't want to leave my money where I can't even get a courteous answer to my inquiry.
The y is trying to scam people. What kind of rule is it that someone under 18 can go to play basketball with a membership but they cannot under a guest pass. I am 18 and brought my brother to the dodge ymca as a guest who is 15 and he is not allowed to go in, but if becomes a member he can? What kind of backwards ass logic is that. I m probably canceling my membership after this. That s a really dumb rule

They have charged us for a cancelled membership and never refunded us. There is no working system as of who should be in charge and where("no manager on site" for my department?!) , very irresponsible and careless staff. I am very sorry I trusted them with my personal information
Pretty great gym. Nice pool, decent selection of free weights and enough machines for everyone. The family membership is good value for money.
I recently joined Dodge YMCA mainly to swim and at the beginning (and due to the COVID situation) it was tough to book a spot to swim but I complained and they listened to me which I really appreciate. YMCA have changed the swimming schedule to allow more customers to book half an hour spots. Thank you soo much!!
I take my son for swimming classes here. The staff are pleasant and the swim teachers are excellent. They have changing rooms just for families as well. The swimming pool is a lap pool with limited space for kids to stretch our but its worth it if you want your children to not be afraid of the water
Staff are always friendly and helpful. Instructors are nice and not creepy fitness bots. The place is filled with regular people of Brooklyn, not rich, fancy jerks.
The YMCA is pretty good and it's nice that they have a pool. They have some very good offerings - prenatal yoga with Anna is awesome, for instance. But they charge a little bit more than they probably should given what value they offer. Still, if you are going to use a gym frequently, this is a good one to try.
