Lovely little hole in the wall yakitori restaurant...

Lovely little hole in the wall yakitori restaurant. Small but not over crowded on the night we went. Once we ordered, the Food came out hot and quickly. So many delicious choices for a wonderful price of 3.90. My friend and I shared about 6 different sticks, chicken heart, chicken and leek, steak, steak and wasabi yuzu, chicken meatball, pork, and chicken skin. Everything was tasty, definitely no complaints.

A small, comfortable Izakaya, the place seems to almost always be full. Prices are reasonable and service is good, but can be slow due to how frequently the place is packed. Patience is rewarded, here - and the friendly staff are prompt about ensuring things are set right. The grilled chicken skin with sauce is a near-perfect piece of food - amongst the best places for yakitori on the island d.

Yakitori Glad is small restaurant nestled on the busy street of Kaimuki leading into historic Waikiki,HI. Visiting this Japanese restaurant you are greeted by a warm and dare I say "vocal" host who quickly seated my party of 4. The menu is presented in both english and Japanese and features a over 30 dishes made of chicken. If you are looking to try something different in the historic Waikiki area then look no further. I recommend Momo Glad Yaki (Tender cuts of meat with sautated with clam sauce presented on a bamboo stick) and Tsukune Cheese to start off your meal. They are great appetizer and for the price you simply cannot go wrong. So you are vegetarian and your friends take you here...what can you eat? They offer fresh salads that have unique dressings that simply make your mouth water.

So let's talk price for each appetizer: $3.90 goes a long way in this place and you will find yourself trying so many things, you can easily loose track of time. The atmosphere is quiet and intimate so for a party of 4 or more might want to consider choosing a new location. I would not recommend this location for large gatherings.

Staff in this location were all helpful, but I found the following staff customer service well above average. Darroll approached my party after we found that the famos cartilage dish was no longer available after we had already ordered and suggested we try the beef tongue. He described the dish in such detail that I was left wanted to taste this local favorite. I was not disappointed! Nikki was our waitress and provided us with numerous options with the drinks and she genuinely seemed to care about our meal experience.

Overall this location is well managed and you can tell the staff care about you dining with them. In Hawaii Japanese restaurants are plentiful so does this location stand out from the rest? You bet! Great customer service is appreciated by anyone dining visiting the island on vacation and this certainly a place I would recommend to my friends.

Pros: Food is amazing, staff is caring and attentive and atmosphere is warm and inviting.

Cons: Drink menu is limited, space cannot accommodate large parties (4 or more) in one location

Before you go:Make sure you make reservations. Pace is fast but trying chicken here is without a doubt the best

Food is ok. Yes service is not first-rate. Worth a visit though. The area this spot is in is really developing and is worth the trip. After eating here checkout Onstage Bar nearby to make your evening complete with cheap eats, cheap beer and great live music. Especially on a Wednesday night!

Great yakitori/Izakaiya restaurant with fairly affordable offerings. Very Japanese taste. Most American palettes would find it a little bland but real Japanese food is not over spiced or herbed. You can actually taste the chicken etc. Pretty good brah! Pretty good!

6PM, Party of 4. Waited 1.5 hours for 6 items to arrive. Should any skewered meat take that long to cook? Unbelievably.... The first dish took one hour - and it was an ochazuke (rice in tea!).

To make matters worse, we only received 6 dishes out of the 9 we ordered - three dishes were simply never entered. Obviously we left hungry.

Food was only ok. Bland tasting and quite unremarkable. Service was essentially non existent as in addition to the slow cooking, no one checked in on us, nor our food/drink without prompting.

I m truly confused how this place gets >4/5 on google reviews. Would not return and would not recommend to others. Even if the service was more prompt the food is really nothing special and felt like a waste of my evening.

Servers were polite and prices were cheap. If not for these aspects it would be a 2/5 rating.

Yakitori Glad has good food and the place seems relatively clean and new. Service is adequate from the staff. Parking might be a little tight with the small lot in the back and street parking options on Kapahulu Ave. Usually, it s best to call for a reservation ahead of time.

I arrived at 6:25 without a reservation and no one acknowledged me till about 6:32 as the staff was scrambling around. There seemed to be only two servers but they were both working pretty hard. We were actually seated pretty quickly after being acknowledged and the server took my order right away. Drinks and food arrived quickly thereafter. My tab was about $52 (including tax and tip) for 3 drinks and 8 yakitori. The food was excellent but a bit on the salty side. But this food is meant to be consumed with drinks.

Came here to meet up with friends. Kinda circled around to find parking. Apparently there's parking behind the building. Luckily I found street parking out in front of the restaurant.

Small hole in the wall restaurant. I asked a few of my other friends if they've been here and they raved how good it was. Greeted by the hostess/waitress and quoted 45 min to 1 hour. Shocked me a lot, especially with only 1 couple in front of us.

When I finally seated, I was told the TSUKUNE CHEESE was really good. And also the GYU KUSHI. No joke, they were really awesome. So so so good imo.

TL;DR
Small space. Hole in the wall. Everything cheap price. Very popular place and only opens for dinner means long wait times. And the waiter/waitress might get some of the foods confused. But hey, the food was amazing imo.

The food is great! Service is good. If you like Japanese yakitori then I recommend this place. Parking is limited and there can be a wait but it's worth it. So far I've eaten here twice and it's been a great experience.

Get there early, make reservations early. They run out of food and if you go with a large party, make sure everyone makes a note of what they order because they just bring all orders of each item together.

Really great place to eat. Everything is $3.90, including the drinks. Their most popular items are their different Kushiyaki, which is skewered meat, or also called Yakitori, which can refer to skewered meat or specifically skewered chicken. Each order of Kushiyaki comes with 2 skewers that are grilled fresh for you when you order. They have a great selection of different normal cuts of meats and also what most Americans would consider strange, e.g., chicken hearts and beef tongue. This is a small shop and can seat about 25-30 people and some nights it is very packed; they do offer take out which is nice. Highly recommend checking this place out.

Plan to stay some time before being seated and taking orders. Ordered simple 2 orders took more than hour of waiting patiently while other who arrived after me were already eating. May be I was a low priority since I was alone. Food was not fully cooked. Ended up getting food to go and throwing them out. Not a good deal overall. Didn t feel hospitable.

Humorous dining experience. Walked in, was greeted. I tell the hostess table for one. Empty restraunt. Mostly empty bar. "Do I have a reservation? " She asks. "No." Hostess can't find a table for me on her map. Manager comes over. They argue in Japanese for several minutes trying to find a table that can acomidate one person. I wonder if I should offer them a calculator. Eventually the manager points to a table and I am ussered to a table in the back tucked into a corner. Again, a mostly empty restraunt. I sit for 10 minutes before a teenage goth asks if I have been helped. He takes my order and graciously corrects my bad pronounciations. 10 minutes later he peers around a corner and sneaks the water on to my table, glaring at me as though trying to poison me. He does the same for my drink order and them my appetizer. The rest of the meal was uneventful but the first 20 minutes almost had me laughing out loud. Decent $4 yakitori, but come for the atmosphere. Worth it.

Food, drink, and customer service was great as always. I thought it was a little too crowded though, and wasn't always very comfortable with the lack of social distancing or limiting on customers.

Yakitori for $3.90... you want it? You will get 2 sticks per order. The staff are efficient and they keep your water cups filled but the food takes a while because there's only 1 grill and 1 cook. They are located on Kapahulu Avenue and only open for dinner. You should make a reservation in advance because they get busy. The parking in this area is limited and I normally park on the street in the residential area; their parking lot is always full and the spaces are tight.

Awesome food for a great price. Tried almost everything on the menu and haven't been disappointed. We tried ordering a few small beers but the waitress insisted we order large since it's the same price...funny staff. The yaki musubi takes a little time to prep, but it's so good! Tip: there's some parking stalls in the basement of the next door building in the back.

lots of waiting. food takes a long time to come out. everything tastes more or less the same kind of bland needing more salt - super good for the patients right across the street from the dialysis center who need to be on a salt restricted diet!

Pretty good yakitory at good prices. Drink selection could be better, but that's mostly from a perspective of a mainlander who's not a big fan of sake and Japanese beers. Yakitory is the reason to come though. The menu is missing some of the more adventurous selections like chicken intestines and uterus but still have decently varied selection. The tastes are spot on though. Definitely a place worth checking out.

A great place to come with family and friends. Everything on the menu is $3.90 including the alcoholic beverages. Highly recommend making reservations as Yakitori Glad is very popular with the locals and wait time can be long.

The best part is that the food , drinks were so yummy, the staff were awesome, but it took awhile for us to receive our order. When we arrived, we were told there were no available tables. We were seated at one, only because the party's reservation was at 8 & had to be done before that time. If it hadn't been for yummy food, drinks and staff, I would have rated the restaurant more poorly. To say the least, I would go back again.

Usually I m a fan of glad. Not the greatest yakitori selection, but everything is pretty tasty most of the time. It s weird how sometimes it s insanely busy and sometimes it s totally dead. Anyway, my wife and I went in on a busy night and they said don t worry, a table for 2 just opened up so it should only be about 5 minutes . Although there were others waiting ahead of us, they were all in a large group waiting for a table for 7 to open up. We waited like idiots for 20-25 minutes as customers finished and left and at least 3 tables opened. The staff could care less that we were waiting and even though we checked from time to time they just kept saying just a few more minutes . As we decided this was enough and walked out the group of 7 said they had been waiting an hour. Sorry, but this place has the absolute worst waiting staff. They are just a bunch of kids who have no idea what they re doing and just run around accomplishing nothing.

Attentive, friendly, and helpful service. The menu is quite extensive and has all the classic yakitori dishes you'd expect from a neighborhood yakitori joint in Japan. The grilled meats I ordered were really fantastic and the yakionigeri was perhaps one of the best I've ever had.

If there's no street parking, there's free parking around the corner behind the restaurant and pizza hut. There'll be a sign that tells you to pay by going to a website but you don't have to do it. The restaurant is covering your parking charge. Your waiter should ask for your licence plate. Now, I had reservation so was seated right away. The restaurant was so busy and very very understaffed. No one acknowledge us for at least 15 minutes. Then another 10 min to get our water. Another 20 to get the food. The servers look overwhelmed and exhausted. You guys really need to consider hiring more people. Now, everything is $3.90 on the menu. It sounds good but it does add up rather quickly. I'd suggest to order some rice to eat along with the meat. There's 2 sticks of yakiroti per plate. And the sizes aren't big. The food is okay. It's on the greasy side. Some plates are flavorless. It's a good place for some after hour hangout spot. But definitely not somewhere you wanna go when you're starving.

It is a good place to hang out and the pineapple Cassis was the bomb. We ordered three of them. The yakitory was actually not that great. Most of them were pretty bland. The deep fried shrimp was the best and the raw octopus was very interesting.
