Though I really only visited to do some snowboarding the service and slopes were good. Despite not having really any snow in the area the man made snow over the slopes were still in great riding condition and pretty well taken care of. I would definitely return.
I love wintergreen I go skiing alot and you should to again I loved it
Staff on lift lines were not consistent on taking people across all rows causing some lines to be skipped multiple times
Great place to stay, but could use more indoor activities
We stayed at the lodge and had to carry all luggage up three sets of stairs to check in. After checking in we had more steps to a landing and then about 15 to 20 steps to our room. Our bedroom was in a loft which is find but that was the only bathroom so we had to go up and down those steps through out the day instead of once at night. The toilet was barely off the ground looked like it was made for a child. Several restaurants on site were closed. The price for food was a joke but the food was excellent just too pricey. Everything you wanted to do had a cost to it even a trail map. The rooms did come with items not shown on their web page. The mountains and views were amazing.
The Edge Restaurant is a great place to hangout with friends and for drinks as well
Our friends and neighbors yearly rent a house on the mountain my sister and I have massages at the resort and the staff was lovely professional the whole trip was wonderful we also enjoy the yearly Labor Day bear on the mountain which includes Foods music and lovely handcrafted items to buy
The resort is huge. Make sure you pay attention to the many signs indicating the different areas and reference the maps. Download and print what's offered on the website as necessary. The tubing slope is a ton of fun. Can't say enough about it.
Wanted to visit the Nature Center but it is closed on Sundays. Hiked a section of the old Appalacian Trail. The weather and views were amazing.
Solid slopes, not too crowded the day I went. Experience was smooth and enjoyable.
The wife and I enjoyed one of their first weekends opened this year. Having never been here before I was impressed with the length of runs, quality of equipment and ability to produce snow fast. Will be back again for sure this year!
Just went for snowboarding, but mountain wasn't crowded, staff was friendly. Even though it was 60 out, conditions were pretty decent and maintained.
Romantic and kid friendly at the same time, great nachos at the edge
Fantastic place. Great rooms, great food, good fun!
We did not stay at the hotel, but went snowboarding here. The instruction staff was nice and knowledgeable, but my wife was having a hard time. Turns out that her snowboard rental had not been cut and waxed in a long time. The instructor let her use his private board it was that bad. Because they did not take care of their rentals properly and that effected not only the mountain pass but the instruction time as well, they don't get high ratings for how expensive they are.
Tons of fun and lots to do. A beautiful place to spend a family vacation.
Lots of things to do both on the property and in the area nearby. Highlights were the large indoor and outdoor pools, conveniently located cafes and markets, easy access to Shamokin Springs Nature Preserve, and many breweries, cideries, vineyards and pick-your-own orchards and berry farms nearby. Breathtaking scenery is everywhere. We stumbled across a wonderful scenic drive South on Rte 680. We stayed at the Highlands condos, a short walk from the pools. The views are amazing, and the kitchen fully equipped. The only problem was a hard but saggy mattress in one of the rooms. Without that, this would be five stars.
This review is specifically about the customer service department, just wanted to show appreciation for their incredible job of taking care of my needs.
The remote location of this resort sounds appealing on paper, but there's little-to-no cell phone service at this resort. Also, you really must have a car if staying there, as the main building and activities are not in walking distance of the condos and houses. They do provide shuttle service, but it stops running around 10pm.
The place is very nice and the ski area is absolutely interesting. It is small, but well organized and the snow making team is great: they can prepare the slopes even when natural snow is almost absent. Okay, it is not Colorado, but it is a nice place for Virginia and West Virgina skiers. There are several trails, great for beginners, but with a couple of slopes perfect for advanced training and local races, pleasant also for experts. Lines at the lifts are very long during week end, but local residents have a fast lane pass with basically no wait at all. There are some restaurants/coffee shops for a snack for skiers. Parking lots are very close to the lifts, easy and free.
I have been a Ski Instructor at Wintergreen for the last four years so my opinion is slanted. Come for a private lesson and have fun. You might even learn to ski. It is a wonderful place to play in the snow! Winter fun starts here!
Only went to snowboard with friends, first board that I got was faulty and ice chunks clung to the bottom so I had to go switch it out. Other than that everything was good, staff was professional and friendly
Beautiful setting, great hiking trails. Couldn't enjoy full experience with covid but a wonderful place.
Nice place, nice people, according to others attending the same event here, the rooms vary. Ours is fairly nice(except the crappy tiny tvs). It's been raining constantly and very foggy since we got here, so I can't comment on much more.
I love wintergreen, wish I had more time and money to go more. Would live there if I could
Stayed at Wintergreen for a batchelorette party. Didn't see much of the resort but seemed nice. May come back.
Good for beginners but the slopes are dull and easy. Not so good for any serious skiers. Food was pretty alright and not too overpriced.
Lots of fun during the summer. We were here for a company family weekend and had a great time. We stayed in the Vistas and had great views of the mountains. We hiked, bounced, and tubed. The kids favorite part was Lake Monocan but beware the water was freezing!
Wintergreen posted a Spartan race there and it was fantastic
Loved renting a condo there for 18 days. The views were spectacular!!
I spent alot of time here over the winter. I definitely liked it alot and if you're from the Richmond area I would say it's the easiest place to go for the day. They also stayed open through the warm spot we had and somehow managed to keep snow conditions relatively good on the runs they had open. The dining is also pretty good here and they have lots of good beer.
Awesome community and resort. Love all 4 seasons at Wintergreen.
Week long summer rental. Hiking, swimming, biking fun.
Went to Wintergreen for snow tubing with the whole family, great fun!
Wintergreen resort is definitely on the smaller side but is packed with more than enough bars, restaurants and a nice little cafe! I was really surprised by how good food and bloody Marys at "The Edge" were. I really enjoyed wintergeeen and will definitely be back!
Very nice family resort. It's a membership, and membership has it's privileges... but that's ok. Staff is nice. Mountain is small, but fun. Doesn't have many lifts or runs, so lines can get long on the popular routes.
We stayed at a private rental in the resort area. Amenities were very nice.
Not as good at Snowshoe but last time I went slopes were perfect.
Longterm members - we love this resort and the people we meet. Skiing is only ok.
Great mountain for Learing to ski. Accommodations are cozy when the fireplace is going.
Room was nice, the man at the front desk was very helpful and there are lots of scenic views
Fantastic experience as always. I've been coming here since I was a child. The fire pits and Adirondack chairs are nice touches.
Well I've always gonna here at around 10:30 and gotten a 4 hour pass, but out of nowhere they don't sell a 4 hour pass until 12:30, so I cant just go and get a pass to ski at 10:30 and leave at 2:30. They wouldn't make a deal or anything and I ended up just leaving because it's not worth it.
Get an early start to your Saturday, the rental lines get really long after 10.
Perfect place to go for an extended weekend get away. Easy drive on mostly I95 from Smithfield area. I love the NC and Ga Mts but this drive is soooooo much easier. Staff is great. Many renovations done this year to the resort and it looks beautiful! More shopping too!
He is very father, but I saw an accident and there was nobody to help. it needs staff for emergencies in the mountains
Fantastic Resort! Absolutely beautiful views. Sports bar and restaurant. Gas station and Market Place
On a retreat with my daughter and her friends. Great time, great space.
Love coming here! We stay at the lodge and the swevoce couldn't be better. Room we stay in is spacious and the bedroom is a loft. 1 full bath upstairs and a half downstairs. The views are beautiful. Restaurants and staff are friendly food is great!
We own a home in wintergreen. It s the most friendly place and we love the year round activities. Skiing and snow tubing in the winter and hiking in the summer. The wintergreen resort area is a great place to relax and unwind after a busy day of hiking, skiing, or brewery/ winery visits!
Cozy stay in the one bedroom condo. We arrive to the resort late which was a bad idea. The roads were dark and dangerous. Luckily the weather was nice. The service was great everyone was extremely friendly. Kitchen was fully stocked with utensils and dishes. I would definitely stay again.
Great service, awesome views and great getaway destination.
So, they aren't Sharop on guest care, guest relations, and guest accommodations, but when it's below freezing, there's a chance of snow. If you have ever skied anywhere else, keep looking
Horrible. We had a wedding 2 go to. Shuttle was picking us up at 6 pm. I repeatidly call ahead 2 request a early checkin. When we got to the hotel we were told we should be able to check in by 3. At 3 we were told check in begins at 4 & we should be in our room by 6 pm. I asked 2 speak 2 a mgr. She was uncaring & told us to go get ready in the fitness center. We finally got in our room with barely enough time 2 get ready & make the shuttle.
The Edge restaurant is overpriced and terrible. They charge you 12 dollars for a iceburg salad with just tomato and croutons, the burger is 14 dollars with nothing so if you want cheese bacon and even bbq sauce on it you are looking at almost a 20 dollar burger. The kids prices are 7 dollars a meal and sub par. The sandwichs are small and expensive in the 12-14 range and if you want a side of fries or even plain broccoli they charge you another 4 dollars. The Copper Mine and Devils Grill are twice these prices. The Copper Mine is a little bit better quality food for the price no thank you.I had 30 dollar scallop meal at Devils Grill and got 2 burnt chewy scallops.
I did find a little gem in the Black Bear Cafe at the top of the mountain by our condo and the spa. It is a lot easier to get to than having to walk up steep icy steps in the cold and considerably cheaper than the Wintergreen restaurants. Went there for breakfast and found out they also deliver to your doorstep. So had dinner delivered instead of going out in the cold foggy weather. The breakfast bacon egg and cheese croissant and Salted Caramel Latte delicious. The pesto chicken bacon Asiago spinach wrap unique and very tasty. YUMMY smoked salmon and baked gouda melt. The salad, actually organic variety greens with a specialty sweet dressing to die for. Kids meals come with fruit and are only 5 bucks. When you go there eat at the Black Bear Cafe.
Beautiful views. Temperature was 70 degrees while it was 90 degrees in Richmond.
