Simple classic menu, low prices. Service lately has been very good, but I have had a couple experiences where it took a ridiculous amount of time to get the order. Still, a KC institution.

Wow is all I can say be prepared to go back in time 50s style dinner and seems prices are in the past as well food was amazing and at 5.50 for a triple burger worth ever penny staff was super friendly and only thing missing was a pinup girl and a chevy belair from the place dont forget happy hour there half priced shakes and drinks including there massive milkshake feeding 4 people well worth going to a family of 4 could eat there for 25 bucks and be stuffed

Maybe my memory is faulty but I remember Winstead's as having much better tasting food. We make infrequent trips to Kansas City and it has been a few years since we ate there. The onion rings were okay but they must have been sitting around for a while because they were cold. The butterscotch shake was okay also but it was not as good as I remember. Again, it could just be a poor memory. Service was good, however.

Building could use some paint? Burgers are pricey for the size, but they sure are juicy! Overall, my boyfriend loves this place. I enjoy it. The shakes are good. They do have a happy hour. The staff is usually friendly.
I would recommend that they choose a different location, only because it is a headache getting in and out of the parking lot and and it looks like an abandoned building. I believe it would make them way more income!!

Our food was cold and burnt the cheese burger my son had was the size of a hair tie not off the kids menu the other two cheese burgers were disgusting for me not to FINISH a overpriced cheeseburger is unheard of plus adding lettuce, pickles, etc will cost you more $$ this place is sad the ceiling was gross to look at the floor was dirty as hell and the bathrooms has pee all over the floor not a place to go to. Save your money.

Very cute 1950's themed diner serving American eats. We had a group of about 20, did not have a reservation, and we were seated very quickly. It took a while to take our orders because we had one single server taking care of our entire party. Our waiter Josie was very quick to make jokes, insert his opinion, and sometimes say inappropriate things, so I'm taking off one star since it made our group feel a little uncomfortable. The food was very good, and we got it surprisingly quickly. I would eat there again.

Arrived at 2240, left at 0030. Took them over an hour to get the food out and even then the order was completely wrong. We weren t the only ones either, basically everyone were getting their orders wrong. Food was nicely priced, food was decent, service was just completely awful.

Six adults were told that we couldn't sit at a round table because it was for 7 people! The restaurant was 75% or more empty so we had to sit cramped in a booth for six. What ever happened to trying to accommodate the customer? We weren't eating dinner, just ice cream.

The chicken sandwich was dry and the fries were over cooked. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. An okay dining experience overall. Would not recommend except for the giant milkshake.

Still good, but things have changed, onion rings have a very hard crunchy batter, not as good as the old batter, bugers still very good. The cleanlisness definitely needs help, there's people back in kitchen w no hair nets, hair eveywhere lol. Kinda dirty.

So disappointing. We were excited to try this old fashion soda shop. Took forever to be seated, the table was dirty. Our gut feeling was to leave because it was packed and only 3 servers. It took forever..... Our server was sweet, but too busy to give refills. The ranch was straight out of the bottle. Fries and onion rings were straight out of the bag. God was cold. We thought it was going to be like In N Out not even close, low quality and dirty. Was recommended by locals. Spend a few more dollars and go to another place. Took 15 minutes to get my card back and no refills on water after asking twice.

I'm not sure what is going on but these people and place have stepped it up since last I've been here. Amazing customer service and friendly greetings as soon as I walk into the door. Nothing but smiles and greetings made me feel like they wanted us their. I left so impressed that I had left my keys on the counter. The lady in front called the number I had wrote on a key chain to alert me about it. I am very thankful as these are my work keys. As a concier on the Plaza for over 500 residents, I plan on recommending this place over and over again.

I've been going to this Winstead's literally my whole life. No place beats their steak burgers and onion rings. Even at lunch in the middle of the week when they are swamped with business people, I still get good service. Sue on the wait staff is one who especially stands out for her kindness and professionalism.

The ONLY Winstead's because their the ONLY ONE who can make a breakfast steak, egg and cheese sandwich with the meat cremated! That's a true art. Open 24 hours, yea. Great waitresses! Thanks, Tequilabud.

This place is a diner format from the 50's and has done nothing to catch up to the modern dinner. Greasy poorly prepared food lots of ice cream and soggy fries. I loved this place as a child but it's sad dated and wornout now. The night we ate there the food was cold and gross. Because at one time it was a Kansas City institution it got stuck in that idea and now can't breakout. For your health for your happiness skip it.

Simple American diner classics. Definitely get a shake. The staff is always friendly and the food comes out pretty quick. The burgers are awesome, I recommend a double. Everything is a reasonable portion so you can order a few things and share them without it being overwhelming.

I ordered call in online for pick up. Online price says 6.75 but when I get there my order is almost 11.00 so I asked about the price and all she could say to me was the prices went up and I can t adjust your price but if you dont want it you don t have to get it. So they would rather throw the food away then give to me for internet price. They don t have to worry about this customer anymore. On the PLAZA!!!!!

Nastalgic 1950-1960 deco. Relaxed atmosphere. Does get very busy at times. We enjoy the food. Simple menu. I always order a double cheese on grilled rye with the works, onion rings and of course a delicious cherry limeade. I feel kind of bad though for the workers who have to sing the little jingle when someone orders a skyscraper ice cream/soda drink. I'll never order one.
