Riding the Mawson Trail through Wilpena Pound. The resort is an oasis. It's the last decent stop before Blinman so stock up on water and food if you're running low. Good facilities and plenty of food and drink choices. It's pretty busy with tourist vans and annoying old demanding people towing caravans though.

Beautiful place. Relaxing.
Amazing country.
I had a wonderful time at Wilpena Pound Resort in beautiful Ikara, Adnyamathanha Country - Flinders Rangers. It was wonderful to see so many Traditional Owners working at Wilpena. The Welcome to Country done by Ringo was excellent with lots of information about Adnyamathanha Culture and history.
I went on the TTGG tour our tour guide Warren was also excellent, he showed us some amazing geological sites and gave us lots information about the history of the area.
All the staff were lovely and friendly.
My room was great, neat and clean and had everything I needed.
A special thanks to Rehanna, Rachel and Valerie and all the other staff who I met and spent time with while I was there. I cannot wait to go back and spend more time there is so much to see, do and learn.

Campground is very central to the sights within the Flinders. We had a lovely unpowered spot for our tents amongst the trees and along the (dry) creek line, with no neighbours. Not everyone is as lucky. More trees and shade in this park compared to Rawnsley. Abundance of wandering wildlife, emus, kangaroos for the kids (we travelled in Spring). Light and moderate walks are all accessible from the park. Scenic drive to Bunyeroo gorge, Aroona ruins etc are not far up the road. Food from Wilpena resort restaurant was fresh and delivered quickly. Beer was cold. Staff were pleasant considering it was peak school holiday time. General store has everything you may need. Only con, would be that over 4 days, I didnt find a soap dispenser in any of the toilets that had soap left in it so that could be improved, but again it was school holidays. Top part of the world. Get there!

trying to make a booking has been frustrating. dont answer phones. haven't replied to an email from 2 days ago. When you get through to Val who sometimes eventually answers the phone she cannot help with reservations and tells me to send an email. i told her i may stay somewhere else and her answer was 'OK, whatever". Trying to support SA but this is a joke....

Nice cosy cabins although the bathrooms could do with a bit of an update and some sort of heating in the winter. The resort itself is well located but I suggest bringing snacks and food if you are looking to save some money, the restaurant is lovely but expensive.

For camping enthusiasts only. By more than 40 degrees outside, "glamping" tents are more of a way of selling night tents at the price of good hotels. The tents are separated by a dozen meters. The outside temperature requires running a noisy air conditioning thoroughly and keeping the tent completely closed. All in all, the comfort and level of service is surely an integral dream for the real campers, but a bit below for the urban adventurers. The meals are correct, the breakfasts rather rudimentary. In short, nothing to blame the establishment that does its work, but it is better to be well aware of where you set foot.

This is a piece of paradise. An oasis in the desert. We stayed there in the Safari tent for 3 nights with our 5 year old and had the best time. Bush walks, 4wd, scenic flights...so much to do there. Or sit there quiet, relax and rewind and sip a wine. Would highly recommend this place.

We stayed in the caravan park where there were not enough amenities for the number of people. Too far from campsites & cleaning was non-existent! The walks were great. Sign-posted with small poles. The cafe and shop were well stocked and priced. Reception was very good and visitor information most helpful.

Ngara, Spent NYE in a Safari Tent. What a great way to end a year and start a new decade! Tent was clean and spacious with fantastic views and privacy. Our package included dinner and breakfast and both were excellent. Staff were very helpful and the Welcome to Country in the evening added to the overall unique experience. Would also recommend the 20 min flight to get a different perspective of Ikara. Hope to come back in Autumn and have time to do some hikes.

This is the centre of one of the most beautiful and ancient landscapes. Don't expect big city selection, accept it for what it is, listen and learn from the traditional owners and you will leave a richer person.

We were booked into the safari tents, however spent an hour on the front deck because no one could find the padlock key to let us in. The young man brought my wife a bottle of white wine while we waited to appease us and later a beer for me when we went for dinner.
The next upset was our guided walk which was cancelled as the guide was in hospital no back up, they offered to book us into another guided walk that conflicted with other plans. Instead of refunding our money we received complimentary dinner that took over an hour to get, while others who ordered after us received their meals. The meals, the accommodation and the effort made by all staff was exceptional. However we were constantly disappointed which has made us to decide to never return or recommend Wilpena Pound Resort to others. Wilpena Pound is an exceptional beautiful place that all should visit and enjoy.

Great location, incredible natural beauty but disappointed with facilities... Paid $245 per night expecting resort quality room and services. Room was not ready when we arrived just after 2pm. Told to wait 30 minutes. Room finally prepared 1.5 hours later. No room service provided to replenish basics when you stay longer then 24 hours. Facilities need attention - shower head broken, only 2 cups and 2 glasses in room. Needs microwave and additional self catering facilities in rooms especially as no midday catering in restaurant. Service in restaurant was slow. The staff were friendly and polite at all times but overworked - This "resort" urgently needs to hire more staff to service patrons if they want repeat visits.

The room was clean but old fashioned. The bathroom air vent and aircon in our room were noisy. Location was great for some of the walks in the pound. The dinner experience was chaotic, marked with long wait to order and receive your food and overpriced. One of the staff at dinner denied Accor discount for my partner even though I showed him my membership and was paying for the whole bill for both of us. The reception staff were helpful and friendly though. I wouldn't recommend this place. Definitely avoid during Easter as the kitchen and bar simply couldn't cope with the crowd.

Stayed for 3 nights in May 2019 in a safari tent, as part of a self-guided bushwalking holiday. Surroundings are beautiful, staff are pleasant, and the tent was comfortable (the zipper stuck a bit, but no big deal). It would have been a nice touch if my luggage, which was dropped off (by Rawnsley staff) at the resort ahead of my arrival, had been taken to my tent, rather than me having to carry it up to my tent (~800m from reception) after a 25km bushwalk.

My 3 dinners in the bistro were very nice - there were limited vegan options on the menu and staff were very helpful and happy to make a couple of changes here and there. The food is expensive (restaurant prices for what is essentially pub grub) but filling and, in my experience, tasty. Thanks!

Stayed 3 nights in Oct 2020 and we will not be back.
Campsite showers were not cleaned at all for our entire stay (I even took a photo of the cotton tip, rubbish, and soap scum). Often ran out of toilet paper, hand soap, and paper towel. It really makes a mockery of the covid hygiene signs everywhere.

Reception staff were friendly and helpful. IGA staff are great and they serve decent coffee, cakes (including a good selection of gluten free), and Villi's hot food. The store has an impressively wide range at reasonable prices I was happy to pay.
Diesel was only $1.20 so that was nice.

The campsites are well spaced and sized, but the amenities were a long walk (150m) in total darkness and when it rained the paths turned into muddy rivers.

I enjoyed my stay because of the location and the great walks available. If the amenities were cleaned twice daily (at least) I would be back and I would give 4 stars.

It's been 30 years since I was here last, so things have definitely changed.
But the views haven't.
Stayed in the Brachina room, clean nice and close to the restaurant.
Staff friendly, and good information shop.
Walks and the views were amazing.
Will come back with the kids next time and stay in the campground.

A fantastic park, great walks. The motel style rooms were clean with good heating. They are looking a little tired, paint, tiling, etc but beds comfortable and nice hot showers. Bistro food is good, however, very busy in school holidays. Fuel available and grocery items.

The resort is looking tired, they say they are going to start upgrading it but .............
The Glamping sites, whilst quite good, don't get cleaned well, there was always dust on the floor that could be removed by a daily sweep and mop.
Same dead flies on the restaurant window sills day after day.
The staff, whilst friendly and helpful, seem to do only their job i.e. take away the dirty plates and wipe the table, but dead flies in the sill - someone else's job. No pride in their surroundings, just a job.

The people they employ there are on the whole the most miserable people I have come across. Beautiful scenery that is matched by the most unhelpful and moody people i have ever come to have to deal with. They acted like everything was a chore, and if the cracked a smile they would explode. Such a shame as the place itself has breathtaking beauty.

Check in staff - awesome

Check in staff - awesome
Safari Tents - awesome (although could do with maintenance)
Location - awesome
Food - disgusting - the only thing really letting this place down. Such a pity as good food is one of the keys to providing a great resort. To the Venue - Easter is every year, please don t use this as an excuse for low quality. Employ more people for over this break and invest in a decent chef.

CAMPERS BEWARE!

CAMPERS BEWARE!
I paid a decent price ($45 for three adults- average price for a holiday park with clean facilities) for a powered site in Wilpena Pound Resort.
The website said "modern amenities". The amenities were public national park toilet standard. The building was a old brick, half opened, and looked like it had never been cleaned.
- the shower cubicles had mould and crawling centipedes all over the walls and floor
- the shower head holes (where the water came out) had black things sticking out of it (dirt? Mould?)
- the light was dim, had cobwebs and dead insects all over it
In general the bathroom looked like it had never been cleaned or maintained.
The website also said " cooking facilities " were available for use. There were none. Only outdoor gas BBQs that you could find in an average park. We had to throw our food because we thought they had a kitchen somewhat.

The company is not transparent and very misleading about the facilities and standards. Be prepared. Also, the water is yellow, smelly and unpotable!

Stayed in Heysen rm54. Cracked handbasin, cracked chair, split bathroom door frame, old fittings and decor. Lacking outside lighting when coming from Restaurant at night. Paved areas need extending to car parking areas for easier access for mobility challenged/old people. For the cost, way over priced. Staff friendly and helpfull but badly needs bringing into the20th century.

Great stay in the Ikara Safari tent - secluded and private - make sure you check the trails before planning your trip as the most challenging / rewarding trips are usually closed in hot conditions - The restaurant has a good selection of food but is a bit dearer $ wise. Breakfasts were buffet style and great to start the mornings.

Ikara is a wonderous place of cultural, geological and tranquil significance. And staying at Wilpena Pound Resort was a perfect base to experience all of this. The staff are delightfully helpful, the food was we'll presented and generous and the surroundings are absolutely marvelous.

Excellent location for exploring the Flinders Ranges. Pitches for Camperman in the forest, with animals wandering around. Very correct sanitary blocks. Very welcoming park guides. Good restaurant and well-stocked food store. Pleasant swimming pool available. Possibility of guided excursions. Really a good address.

Staying in unpowered camping area, very overcrowded, noisy and very smokey due to numerous camp fires, no hot water and very poor water pressure in showers, at times there has been no toilet paper in ladies toilets. Paying good money to stay here and it's very sub standard.

It's a resort but with a taste of a campground in some national park. Sites are located in a fair distance from each other so you can barely hear your neighbours. Well maintained toilets, hot showers and BBQs.
Be aware of kangaroos that eat toilet papers at night and approach to you while cooking. Fortunately they are not aggressive. Highly recommend that place.

Unfortunately our experience was not great. Beautiful scenery and reasonable camping sites. Unfortunately many broken washing machines and even the coke machine not working. Many toilets not clean with no toilet paper for over 24 hrs. Mould in many shower alcoves, Locks on toilet doors not working and even trees fallen over designated paths to the toilets. BBQ could not be used as full of water and or not cleaned. Sorry for the poor review however the place is in very poor condition and it is supposed to be a icon of our State.
